  1. Has anyone actually seen the caller ID feature work on their device?  It was such a cool idea (after Google effectively nudered Mr. Number), but all I seem to get from it is the state the area code came from.

It works spotty for me, works when I call my apartment complex, but not when they call me. Haven't seen it work any other time.

  2. Not even 500 yards from the sprint tower on 64 near ski

Have you updated to 4.4.2? I initially thought it was OK, but after driving around town, they really messed the modem up. I'm going to flash back to the 4.4 modem as soon as I can root over Christmas break....

    Is it the Vandelay app?

    AJ

I can't believe this post didn't get more lols

  3. I used to get a weak LTE signal near UPS before the update.not anymore

What was the signal strength in dBm? I think the threshold is about -115 to -117 dBm before it starts looking to 3G.

My phone still shows 3 bars at -112dBm.

  4. Did the 4.4.2 update last night. Signal strength according to SignalCheck app is about 8-10dBm lower than before, HOWEVER, I have been able to hold LTE in all places that I was able to before. This leads me to believe that if you're having problems holding LTE with the new update, its more of a market saturation issue, building you're in issue etc.... Just my $.02.

  5. That's a Samsung thing I think. Just load the modem zip file via a custom recovery.

That is what I thought, I just don't want to go through the hassle of doing it. Sounds like unlock bootloader and root is the way to go. Just don't want to lose all my stuffs. :(

  6. Enable developer options, switch runtime to ART.

My battery life has improved quite a bit. Used to be sitting at 60% after 8 hours.

    Now...

Yeah, ART gets better battery life. I have seen a few more examples of this as well.

  7. 7% bat. 1 day 11 hours here.

BTW sprint LTE doesn't reach south 1 st and harvestore Dr near UPS ?

Nope, the 3 towers on NIU's campus don't have LTE....yet. You might be able to pick up LTE from the tower on University Road south of Malta.

  8. My Nexus 5 gets here in 2 days but I'm honestly thinking about sticking with my G2. The battery life of my G2 is so awesome. Had a friend over the last two nights and he's been using my only charger each night for his Droid X2 while my G2 sits there barely sipping juice. Two hours and 45 minutes of screen time, 30hrs off charger, and still had 67% battery left.

Nexus 5 sounded good to me because of AOSP and RF performance but Idk. Usually when I have this uncertain feeling, I don't stick with the device for long. What's it called, buyers remorse?

I'm sitting at 1d 9h 28m with 9% battery left. Screen on time is at 2h 5m. I'm going to post a screen shot when I get down to 2% battery left.
