The radio you need is the one from 4.4 which ends in .17. The radio in 4.4.1 and 4.4.2 is the same.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I just assumed it was 4.4.1 since I didn't have any issues.

Not even 500 yards from the sprint tower on 64 near ski

Have you updated to 4.4.2? I initially thought it was OK, but after driving around town, they really messed the modem up. I'm going to flash back to the 4.4 modem as soon as I can root over Christmas break....
Is it the Vandelay app?

I can't believe this post didn't get more lols

hangouts exclusively.

Try uninstalling the updates and reinstalling? This is just a shot in the dark.

Unfortunately I'm with Tmobile since sprint kicked me out cause I was roaming too much
That happens?!

I used to get a weak LTE signal near UPS before the update.not anymore
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
What was the signal strength in dBm? I think the threshold is about -115 to -117 dBm before it starts looking to 3G.
My phone still shows 3 bars at -112dBm.
-
Did the 4.4.2 update last night. Signal strength according to SignalCheck app is about 8-10dBm lower than before, HOWEVER, I have been able to hold LTE in all places that I was able to before. This leads me to believe that if you're having problems holding LTE with the new update, its more of a market saturation issue, building you're in issue etc.... Just my $.02.

That's a Samsung thing I think. Just load the modem zip file via a custom recovery.
That is what I thought, I just don't want to go through the hassle of doing it. Sounds like unlock bootloader and root is the way to go. Just don't want to lose all my stuffs.

Can a different modem be loaded with ODIN?

It would be interesting to see what the "SPARK" devices band priorities were set at. Seems to me that SPrint is in control of band priorities through the users profile update.
I don't know if they have included that information in their profiles yet....

I saw that but didn't think LG would add a magnetized lens for a 3rd party accessory.
The lenses have been around for a while, I think they just did it to make their product appeal to that niche. But who knows.
-
I meant magnetized, not magnified.

Enable developer options, switch runtime to ART.
My battery life has improved quite a bit. Used to be sitting at 60% after 8 hours.
Now...
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Yeah, ART gets better battery life. I have seen a few more examples of this as well.
-
still no luck yet?
Nothing, I tried 1 tower in Carol Stream, 1 in West Chicago, and 1 in St. Charles. Nada.

Tried zooming out?

7% bat. 1 day 11 hours here.
BTW sprint LTE doesn't reach south 1 st and harvestore Dr near UPS ?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Nope, the 3 towers on NIU's campus don't have LTE....yet. You might be able to pick up LTE from the tower on University Road south of Malta.
-
Hmm... I must admit the battery life I'm experiencing is not real great.
Works great for me....
-
I'll just leave this here again since it's relevant again...
Yep, all depends on how you use it. (giggity)

My Nexus 5 gets here in 2 days but I'm honestly thinking about sticking with my G2. The battery life of my G2 is so awesome. Had a friend over the last two nights and he's been using my only charger each night for his Droid X2 while my G2 sits there barely sipping juice. Two hours and 45 minutes of screen time, 30hrs off charger, and still had 67% battery left.
Nexus 5 sounded good to me because of AOSP and RF performance but Idk. Usually when I have this uncertain feeling, I don't stick with the device for long. What's it called, buyers remorse?
Sent from my LG-LS980
I'm sitting at 1d 9h 28m with 9% battery left. Screen on time is at 2h 5m. I'm going to post a screen shot when I get down to 2% battery left.

Good to see other users finally connecting to B41, this looks to be in chicago!

I would be interested to know where that is. I went to 3 B41 sites last week.....got nothing....

Baloney, he sees what I see all over the city. He just didn't show is signal strength and SNR. Strong LTE signal, weak SNR, sub 100K download speeds. Those are the symptoms of the ongoing "Chicago problem" we have been discussing for over a month.

I get the same speeds in my office in the loop and in my home in Lakeview.
You're right, I misread the speed. That is terrible.

It works spotty for me, works when I call my apartment complex, but not when they call me. Haven't seen it work any other time.
