They released it, just like they have for other cities, to show they are working on their network. To give their customers a peace of mind. One of the big complaints Sprint got was that they weren't letting anyone know what was happening.
Anyone else get the feeling something is launching April 15th? April 15th happens to be a Sunday, which is a day Sprint uses regularly to release devices.
I forgot to mention, the original Epic 4G is model number D700, while the Galaxy Nexus will be L700. So just because it has the model number 710 doesn't mean it will be a re-hashed Epic Touch at all.

While I hope that the Note or whatever it will end up being called will come to Sprint, the same analyst also said Verizon would be the first carrier with the GSII, and that it would be called the Samsung Function. We know how that turned out...

Considering they attached the "Razr" name to it I would say all carriers will end up with a version at some point.
