  1. Go to evasi0n.com to download it. Compatible with all devices that can run iOS 7.x.

NOTE: Make sure your make a back up of your device. If you are having trouble with jailbreaking the device, and your method of updating your device is OTA, then do a full restore in iTunes and you should be good to go. BTW, any tweaks relying on Moblie Substrate may not work correctly, so watch out for that until an update is released.

    Jailbreak on!

This will help me get to the engineering screen on my iPad.

I've been planning to switch to Sprint for the $15   2 gig plan for a while. Now I can track the 800mhz lte deployment.

  2. My wife has had the same issue with AT&T too with the Nexus 5. I haven't. But I am not in LTE coverage very often either. Except with AT&T, it doesn't appear that texts are going through LTE like they do on Sprint. So when she gets back on WCDMA, she will get all her texts at once.

And if you call AT&T customer service, they will just cut you off and tell you it has to be the device and they do not support the Nexus 5. Then they they to sell you a phone they do support. I hate AT&T. At least Sprint (and Tmo) are doing something about it.

I use Google voice to make up for issues like that (only having WiFi in some areas).

Since my number is with them I can see if I've missed a call and can text without cell service.

If you have a way to port out without an ETF Google voice can fix that issue (at the expense of MMS and group texting functionality)

  3. 1x is 3G. Google is probably trying to clarify the correct technologies since a lot of people confuse 1x as 2G. If you want to see 1x listed separately, I suggest you try Signal Check. It's definitely worth it.

No, that would be a Sprint thing. Sprint always requests that phone makers do that. Many of us would really prefer they didnt.

  4. In most areas, Verizon is significantly faster and they have better coverage more places. Also, the majority of people are going to use less than 1.5 gigabytes.

As I have observed, with a faster more reliable connection data usage goes up. Since Tulsa got LTE for most of the area, I've seen each of my family members data use roughly triple. My brother now uses around 9 gigs a month where he used to use 2-3. My dad's usage has skyrocketed from 300mb or less to 4-5 gigs (probably because he now trusts that streaming will work).

  5. When will Sprint expand LTE on 1900 across A-G blocks?

I know it's on the G block only now

I think LTE in the PCS B-Block may be live at my cabin. I can attach to it through my Wilson signal booster which only operates in PCS A-F (and I didn't used to be able to back when LTE first went live on some of the cell sites covering the area)

I'll have to get an engineering screen to confirm.

  6. There are real problems. And 90%+ are the network. Nothing they can do but keep on it. Keep trudging forward. And for some, it won't be fast enough. And they should leave. No sense in having an aneurism over a wireless carrier.

However, after 30 days of AT&T, I can tell you the grass is not greener. With every carrier it's about weighing pros and cons and going with the one you can best tolerate.

Are you having issues with VZW or did you just want to try AT&T (it looks like they're HSPA only there) ?

Are there other carriers in Rapid City?

  7. True, but there are some downsides to Lower 700 MHz A block -- and I do not mean just the DT channel 51 issue.

One, T-Mobile is already running out of rack space on its sites because it usually employs one legacy antenna in the middle and two modernized antennas on either side. I have seen no evidence that the modernized antennas have low band ports, so if true, then new antennas would need to be squeezed in or mounted on a different rack.

Two, T-Mobile has decided to ride AT&T's coattails on device procurement. In most/all cases, there is no T-Mobile variant any longer -- it is just the AT&T variant repurposed for T-Mobile. And AT&T has its boutique band 17 that excludes the Lower 700 MHz A block. So, AT&T would need to have a change of heart on band 12, or T-Mobile would need to break away for its own variants again. Regardless, current devices would not support band 12.

    AJ

Supposedly AT&T has agreed to support spectrum interoperability in the 700mhz band which seemed to signal the addition of band 12 to their devices in the future.

I'll try to find a source for you after I get back from this football game (it may not be long, we're losing badly).

  8. That would have to be done in and RF cancelling box, with only a airave and a verizon phone in it. So that all rogue verizon signals are supressed. Does Verizon have a roaming agreement with Sprint? I guess their agreement works both ways.

At my cabin, the USCC phone does it everytime I go indoors. I can catch a US Cellular native signal outside but inside it would be no service without it (same goes for VZW). The only cellular signals that are strong enough to enter parts of the house are AT&T's HSPA and T-Mobile GPRS/EDGE networks (which really just connect and only work when your not holding them).

The house is right at the edge of a cellular 850 license boundary and in a very rural area which means there is little incentive or means for a cellular 850 licensee to serve the area (meaning very marginal USCC, or VZW signal (which is actually PCS in this case)).

It's an extreme case and thats why I'm able to test all of this. I wish someone would install a small cell or repeater in the neighborhood (hint hint, Sprint).

  9. Have anyone tried this? Have a Verizon phone Roaming on Airave!  Not sure if it is possible? So want to see if anyone has tried it.

When there is absolutely no native signal or roaming CDMA available, US Cellular and Verizon devices will roam onto an airave but it will keep looking for another network and will pick up that other network even if it is with an unusable signal.

So, generally, if the airave is being used in an extremely low signal area (for all CDMA providers), then yes VZW and USCC devices will roam onto it but if any and I mean any other CDMA signal is available they will not.

  10. If you're going to stay with Sprint, you might as well get the phone for $200-$300 cheaper by renewing your contract or signing a new one. Cheap phone is the added bonus.

I would look at resell prices and what sprint charges then buy the phone that nets you the largest difference then use that to buy a play store nexus 5 and pocket what's left over. Do the math and it might be worth your while.

  11. Does anyone know if there are any Sprint LTE Boosters out yet. I found one by wilson but I have tried there boosters in the past which didnt work. When I asked Wilson about the problem they said there boosters are not guaranteed to work. Since then I have a Surecall 40db which has been a signifigant improvement.

With Sprint upgading alot of the towers out here I am keeping my eye out and was curious if anyone heard anything?

Wilson Sleek 4G claims to but I didn't get nearly as much of a signal boost from it for LTE (basically nothing) as I do for 3G (which it does very well).

  12. Can someone please tell me what is going on with Sprint LTE in N Oklahoma City/Edmond, even West OKC? I have to routinely manually switch my phone off 4G because I cannot get data at all or it's slower than just normal 3G. My wife is about to strangle me over this, and I'm ready to strangle Sprint...

    Botched install

We've had one in the Tulsa area. Thankfully other sites were upgraded around it to reduce the impact.

    Call Sprint and report it.
