  1. On Signal Check Pro, you can tell if you're connected to second carrier by number 2 after b41.  Two carriers are required for CA, but that still won't tell you if you're on CA.

I did a speed test yesterday with Sensorly/Signal Check Pro and I had the B41(2). I was getting 30+ down. I thought that little 2 was an indication that I was on CA :/

Either way, I did more tests around town (with my new N6P) and a lot of the towers seem to be much much faster. Some locations had 50+ down! :o

Last time I checked tower speed has been over a year so a lot must have changed in my area!

  2. Hello!

I was snooping around in the settings an noticed my preferred network type is set to "global" even though one of the options is labeled "LTE (recommended)".

My LTE data seems to be flowing smoothly I just don't want to miss out on any LTE bands or waste battery life.

Here is the pathway to the setting:

    settings->wireless & networks->more->cellular networks->preferred network type

Thanks for any info or thoughts on the matter! Love this phone!!! :tu:

  3.

WARNING: Do not buy the car charger linked in my past post! It does not look like it will use quick charge.

  4. Once you get the correct sim, you should not have any problems activating the phone.  I activated my 5X online without any interaction from Sprint.

I cant seem to find any information on the exact process of activating a nexus 6P on the Sprint network. I have the correct sim card in hand but am not clear if I have to call, web chat, or just plug in the sim. Sorry a bit new to the whole sim card thing as my S5 is my current and only phone I have ever had a sim car for.

Thanks for any info on this.

  5. What car charger are you using? I found none that charged at the same voltage as the wall charger that came with the phone. Btw, I don't think your phone can actually charge faster than 5v/3a.

Not sure which one @S4GRU is using but here is one that is 3amp:

Edit: Also here is a battery pack with 3 amp out:

  6. I just purchased an 32gb nexus 6p and I'm a little nervous. Im not familiar with sim cards and seeing different sim cards being posted to use in this phone I'm not sure which one i need. Do i need to purchase one before hand or can I take the phone into a sprint store and be able to activate it there? Im sorry if this is a repeat question but Im just nervous about that and want to make sure ill be able to activate it. Btw this is my first non subsidized phone Ive bought so I'm not very familiar.

I have the Sprint nano sim card on order from this phone number:

    888-882-4030

    With this SKU:

    CZ2144LWC

They didn't need the UPC but if you need it:

    019962040146

    Reference:

    https://community.sprint.com/baw/com...exus-5x-and-6p

(the phone number is different. I tried the one in the link first and they transferred me to the number I listed above)

All in all it was pretty easy and there was no charge for the 3-5 business day shipping to my house.

  7. Careful with SERO questions here, it's a sensitive subject. When I used to work at Sprint people would swap phones all the time while in contract. Will be able to swap phones with no issue and it should not change your plan since you already have an iPhone 5s on it.

You don't have to sign up for a new 2-year contract (I'm on SERO Premium from being an ex-employee and I have been eligible for an upgrade for months with no changes. In this case, doing away with contracts most likely means you will not be able to buy a phone at a subsidized price in exchange for a 2-year contract.

Changing devices is best done either calling Sprint or using the chat system. It should be pretty easy, however, doing swaps by logging in doesn't work because your plan is different and depending on how new reps are in the store they may not know what they are doing. Also, only corporate stores can handle SERO customers.

    Hope this helps!

Ok thanks that is what I was thinking /hoping. I just don't want to mess with my current plan considering I would be getting a new phone before the contract is up. I kind of would like to just go month to month and buy unlocked phone from here on out tbh.

I am on Sero. Here are my answers:

    1. When I swapped in my Nexus 5, my contract was not renewed and my plan was not changed at all.

    2. I've never had to sign up for a new 2 year agreement after my agreement expires. But if a policy is changing, I don't know.

    3. I have swapped phones pretty easily in the past.

Thanks! I thought I would save some money by not having the insurance. I figured the S5 would be a decent backup phone if something were to happen. I have the proper phone numbers to call for my specific plan so it sounds like I should be good to go! :D

I don't think that's accurate. I've never attacked anyone just merely for having a SERO account or asking a question. Problems usually arise when people have the gall to complain about not being able to get X from Sprint or be able to do Y because they are on SERO. And then when someone rightly reminds them of that fact they get mouthy or butt hurt.

Please don't issue warnings like that to people who come to my site. It's not cool.

99% of Sprint customers are not on SERO. Many of them may be envious. So you can expect they may complain when you discuss it publicly. It's human nature.

Thanks for your reply! I love forums (this one specifically) and abide by the rules and etiquette. :tu:

Well, now I suppose I will save up and read up on how the 6P is treating everyone until they get back in stock!

I have some concerns about the nano sims card but I believe I read about the specifics on the first page. I think the S5 has a different sized card unfortunately.  I probably would want to order the nano one before I buy the phone just so it is ready when it arrives. Probably wont be until December now though.

Thanks again for all the info!

  8. I have a couple quick question about the Nexus 6P in regards to Sprint Sero Premium plan. I am looking to get the 6P when it comes back in stock and I am in no hurry.

1.) My SERO plan is up in April of 2016. Can I swap from my old phone (S5) to the 6P that I would get from Google before that contract is up? Will my plan change at all?

2.) When my contract is up will I have to sign up for a new 2 year agreement? I've read Sprint is going away from contracts and the end of this calendar year. How will this affect SERO customers?

3.) I am planning on using my S5 as a backup phone and getting rid of the insurance plan. How easy is it to swap back to an old phone if my 6P gets damaged or lost? Different for SERO customers?

Thanks a ton for any information! I love this site!!! :D

  9. Is there something going on in the greater Cinci area? My Galaxy S5 is not connecting to LTE any more. Its been going on for days. In the north east and west central Cincinnati.I've updated the PRL and Profile. Are they adjusting the towers now?

    Thanks for any info!

  10. Some food for thought/testing....I snooped around the phone via ##3282# and found what looks like a LTE scan time field. It looks like you can decrease the time it takes the phone to search for LTE:

    1.) Dialer app

    2.) ##3282#

    3.) edit

4.) enter MSL number (you get this from sprint) (just say you are running diagnostics)

    5.) BSR

    6.) Timer Menu

    7.) nextLTEScan timer

8.) Mine was set to 5 (minutes?)

9.) Change to lower minute value for quicker scan.

    10.) Restart the phone.

Can anyone confirm if this in fact helps? I may change mine to 2-3 minutes when more towers light up in my area and/or if I travel.

  11. What PRL are you on? The current stock PRL scans for 1900 before 800, so you won't get 800 until 1900 is unavailable.

    I am on 25018.

On my Galaxy S5 the PRL version is 51100. When I update the PRL it still stays at 51100. Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks for any help!

  12. Was in baltimore in spark area did not change b41 had airplane it and got 37 down thwn next tower back 25 .

My question is this: why do we have to airplane toggle the S5 in a Spark area just to get LTE??? Sorry if im beating a dead horse here but it just doesn't seem right.

  13. Well just so happens I went through a different LTE populated area and I held LTE for quite some time. I'm ok with waiting for NV to be completed in my city.

Like others have suggested, I don't think it's the hardware in the phone. It's just that the network in my area is not complete yet. I also saw someone working at a tower by my house so excited for the time to come. Love the phone and when on LTE it's pretty fast.

    Thanks everyone!   :)
