  1. Well the site would just send what networks it supported. So if it was still legacy, it would send data saying it only supported 1x and evdo. When it gets upgraded, it would send data saying whatever it supports. So it might say 1x, evdo, 1x 800, LTE, and LTE 800 if it was completely finished with 800 accepted as well. And if the device did not support LTE 800 (like no current phones do) it would simply ignore that. Haha. All dreaming aside, you are completely right. In a little bit it won't matter one bit because every site (except a few exceptions) will be completely upgraded. But this would be nice for future upgrades and new data technologies. Sorry to get off topic, but I read a little while back about (I believe it was Samsung) a company successfully testing a 5g network. Now it won't be ready until like 2020 or something a long time from now, but I'm still excited for it. I can try to post the article on here if any of you guys are interested. edit: here is the link to the article: http://www.technobuffalo.com/2013/05/12/samsung-successful-5g-test/ Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  2. It would be awesome if a packet of data was sent to the device from the base every time a device connected to that base that told the device exactly what was supported and what networks it could connect to. Then the device (phone, hotshot, etc.) would interpret that packet of data and connect to what it could. That would stop the device from having to scan for LTE. I know that is not a realistic possibility, but it would be awesome if it was. Hey, one can dream, right? Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  3. That's what I was afraid you would say. It just doesn't look like there is really any room for any more antennas. I'll keep an eye on it and other sites in the Wentzville area and report anything I see, but I haven't seen anything yet. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  4. So when sprint puts NV equipment on a Sprint/Nextel synergy site, will they take down the iden antennas? There is a site near me that I believe is a sprint/Nextel synergy site. It has 3 panels per sector that are the same, and one other panel per sector. So it looks like there are 3 iden panels and a cdma panel. I can upload a picture if you want. I was just thinking it would be really easy to spot any progress based on whether or not those iden panels were still up or not. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  5. If you want to rant about Sprint, this is not the place to do it. The rest of us are all waiting patiently for the rollout go be complete. Now you are saying that you were mapping your trip with sensorly. If you are using data (sensorly does in fact use data when you are mapping a trip because it is uploading your 3g points that you are plotting. It is also loading the map.) you're phone will not switch to 4g (or at least has a very hard time). So it's not that there was no 4g coverage there, but your phone did not connect to it because it was being used. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  6. Ok. That makes sense. Sorry for such a dumb question. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  7. Ok, so I have not posted anything in a while. I have been keeping up with this thread and the one in the sponsor area. I have not really had anything to say since I have not seen any progress around here (in Wentzville). But I have a question about the antennas/panels. The legacy sprint panels seem to always have 3 panels per sector. Does that generally apple to NV sites as well? I was just wondering because from what I can remember from what has been posted on here, there have been multiple sites that only have 1 NV panel per sector. Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 4 Beta
  8. Awesome! I apologize for saying I would be able to check it out, but I ran into some unexpected issues and was not able to go on Sunday. I would be able to go next Sunday, but it looks like you're going to beat me to it! Haha. Anyways, my apologies.
  9. I saw the discussion, but didn't know it was about this specifically. I thought this blip was new. I was wrong.
  10. I have some good news. My brother got LTE on his SGS3 at Lewis and Clark Blvd and Chambers road. He said that he ran a speedtest, but he lost LTE before it finished. It was either a weak signal or they had just finished testing. On sensorly, I also saw some points for LTE on Hwy H and some in Clayton. I will see if I can get LTE where my brother got it tomorrow since I will be close. I'll post back and let you know if I picked up LTE in that same location.
  11. I was not aware of that. I thought it was the bsids for the lte towers. Thanks for clarifying.
  12. I just plotted a couple hundred points in sensorly in STL. I mostly only picked up LTE where it had already been plotted in sensorly, but I did get a little bit where it was not on the map while mapping the trip in sensorly.
  13. i know that official announcements do not mean anything, but for those of you in Joplin...http://www.technobuffalo.com/2013/04/11/sprint-lte-markets-april-12/
  14. I saw it had been mapped on sensorly, I just didn't know you got pics. That's awesome that you did!
  15. Oh man. What have I started? Haha. Anyway, I might be able to go to the towers with live LTE in STL this weekend if nobody else beats me to it.
  16. Opening Day for the Cardinals, and opening day for Sprint LTE in STL! Haha. Sprint sure timed that good!
  17. yes, that's the tower i was talking about. you can kind of see what i was talking about on the other side.
  18. The tower at hwy 270 and 70 near Florissant has what looks to be a trench dug going into it. I was driving and was only able to get a quick look at it, and it may not even be for sprint, but I am willing to bet it is getting new backhual run to it. I did not see any of the rrus or new panels on it, though. But I'm sure that if I'm right about the backhual, the rrus and new panels will come soon.
  19. if it means anything to you guys, in the LTE file, i only have the sid of 4157, which according to this site: https://sites.google...w/wireless_sids is Nashville, TN. i was in nashville and did connect to LTE there. so that is correct. i have also gone to Huntsville, AL and Branson, MO and nothing other than the Nashville records in the file. so not great news for anyone in Branson, MO, Wentzville, MO or Huntsville, AL. Now its not terrible news, but its still not overly good. I will post back here if i get a record of a place that has not been announced by Sprint or if it has not had much being said about it when it comes to LTE (of course if it is not in the MO market i will post it in the thread for that market). also keep in mind that the list is from 2003...so it is probably not completely up to date anymore.
  20. awesome! thanks! edit: i cannot seem to get it to work. it just returns to the dialing pad after i press the last # sign. i will keep trying things, but im not sure whats going on. do i need to grant it root access in supersu itself? it never asks for root access. edit: ok, got it working. its ##3282#
  21. how did you get it to be LTE only? i have been curious about trying to do that, but never really looked into it a whole lot.
  22. Thanks for the information, Robert. that is very helpful. i am trying to learn as much about this stuff as possible, and i did not know that. thank you!
  23. exactly what i was thinking. something to compare those towers to later on.
