How bad did the Epic 4G bring down the average for Sammy? LOL

Hey now!! love that phone. Runs ICS even with 4g working very well. And best of all it has a keyboard. My daily driver. Now of course Samsung didn't do the ICS part.

A US map could be done with the markets in color for the order they are going. We could do annotations or a map key for the text.

Wouldn't be that hard to do.

 

I actually do pretty good to text and not pay too much attention to what i am writing. Plus i can send text messages without someone knowing i'm typing on a physical keyboard.

Kind of hard to use that in a meeting when you are trying to text on the DL below the table.

 

Umm I'm pretty sure my EVO will show its 4G as a separate signal bar...

Makes sense to do it that way because your 4G signal has zero to do with your cell signal but still valuable to know so you have idea of how strong that signal is for data itself...

If you move to ICS it won't show separate signal bars for 3g and 4g anymore.

 

I love it. So much faster for me to type when texting. But that is only on the iPhone keyboard.

Close your eyes and type a very long email with it. :-)

I might give the iPhone 5 more thought if the rumor is true about the larger screen. My big sasquatch paws just don't work on a keyboard that fits on a 3.5 inch screen. Even the icons and links. Nothing wrong with people liking the iPhone, but when people act snobbish and think everything on the iPhone is superior to everything on an Android phone, I have a problem with that. The people that would stab their own mother for a launch day iPhone bother me too.

 

And as far as Mac OS vs Windows, its a matter of betamax vs VHS. Mac OS may well be better than Windows, but there are about 7 programs that work on a Mac and not Windows and there are about 7 billion that work on a Windows computer and not Mac. Yes I know there are programs that you can run windows programs on a mac with a virtual OS but that is cumbersome and slow and why would I want to run a virtual machine?

I hate typing on screen keyboards. My A.D.D. kicks in real quick with on screen devices.

The thing that gets me is that when the evo 4g came out all the haters were saying how the screen is too large, you need two hands to use it, how is it gonna fit in your pocket, no one wants a tablet for a phone......I could go on, but you guys know where I am coming from. Now that apple is coming out with a larger screen those same haters are gonna be saying how awesome and beautiful it is and that 4.6" screen is gonna be perfect. It's like when apple does it, it's cool, but when anyone else does it, it either sucks or people say they stole the idea from apple.

You are learning grasshoppa'! I could probably list about 10 different things people showed me on iphone that I had for at least a year or more. Its the brainwashing!

I used the video chat on my epic when I first got it...almost 2 years ago...another thing ios is going to catch up on. It was okay, but more of a novelty for me. I haven't used it once since then unless I wanted to show somebody.

I think it sucks. You can't see your voice coverage anymore. You can't see whether you are roaming when using number display. You can't see everything you used to at glance. Hell if you go to roaming on 1x in rural towns where you have 4g coverage you would never know you are roaming.

 

I'm just curious because on my ICS, the ICS 3G signal indicator doesn't change to 4G, it creates a new 4G triangle icon that is turned on it's side. So I just was wondering if CM9 keeps it on the same one.

I am betting it changes the icon on the signal indicator. On CM7 I ran the actual signal number and not the stupid bars. When I roamed it put the triangle next to it. When you roam on CM9 and run the actual signal numbers you can't tell if you are roaming or not. You have to have the bars to see the 3G turn to R. And yep, you guessed it, you can't see if you are roaming 1X or 3G. You have to go to the phone status screen to see how you are connected. My biggest beef with CM9.

I almost spit my coffee through my nose on that one! Holy moly, that's funny!

 

Hey Digi...on CM9, when you are on WiMax, does the signal indicator look exactly like the 3G one above, only with 4G displayed?

I don't know, I haven't used 4G since I went to CM9..and I do not go through the 2 areas that have 4G near me, not my cup of tea to go those uhh...areas.

I'll have to see if I can catch a whiff of 4G on my way out of downtown...sometimes I can.

I hope that is just a mapping error. Downtown has been grinding to a halt lately. I have been having issues texting as well. I can see the tower out my window and there have been no changes to it. I see it many times a day when I am walking down the hall as it is directly through the window and almost level with my floor.

Rocked CM7 for while then now I am on CM9 and couldn't go back. Love the features and bone stockness of them so you can make the phone your own without any bloat in the way.
