  1. I just picked up the Nexus 7 today. It's charging up waiting to be put through its paces.

Now I have a big laptop, a small laptop, a netbook, a tablet and of course my EVO.

    Mission complete!

  2. gesshh!! that is pretty good i was getting 1.00 MB/S the other day and i was souped! :) i got LTE the other day in pawtucket was on the highway only lasted like 1-2 mins but i was so happy to see it light up on my status bar.. if u go on sprints website and find the coverage section and check RI u can see on the map that central falls/pawtucket area LTE is lighting up.. wish they would start down my end.. lol

You must have been hitting towers in MA as others in Lincoln have reported sightings also.

I'm in South County, I wish they'd start even further down. :)

  3.

Sprint to buy cricket, us cellular and more?

I've often thought US Cellular was a good fit as well as C Spire. I had all but forgotten about Alltel.

Cricket I'm not so sure of. I don't know what benefit they would provide being a prepaid carrier. I think somebody acquires them down the road as they are not tearing it up. Maybe T-Mobile will look at them, I firmly believe they are going to end up a prepaid carrier anyway.

  4. Do you guys think I should pick up a used Viper to play with until my contract is up in June? I am on the NS4G, we are finally getting some LTE here in Charlotte and I want to start driving around and doing speed tests. I'd feel vaguely guilty going backwards to ICS from JB, but judging by the screenshots you all have put up it looks pretty nice after the update. (Except Josh, that font is hideous.)

    Yes!

They are fairly reasonable in the secondary market and not a bad little phone.

  5. Well I'm very pleased with the OG, very solid phone, plenty fast,,,

Call quality is better than any other LTE Sprint device I used too. Its a keeper

I just unloaded mine yesterday, I just don't like all that real estate

I do like the LG product though as I have a Viper too. I just hope the industry doesn't adapt to having 2 sizes.

    4" or enormous.

  6. The carriers take it on the chin with the iPhone more than the subsidized customer does.

They don't always know (or care) that you might get more for your 200.00 by getting an Optimus G or S3.

I'd be willing to bet a Windows phone or even the new Blackberry would be 199.99 out the door with a 2 yr. commitment.

  7. They have less of an economy of scale than Apple, but they are gouging the consumer as well.

Isn't the S3 outselling the iPhone? I'd have to think Samsung has some clout as well.

The S3 is 549.00 on Sprints website. 599.99 on Verizon and 599.99 on T-Mobile. Still a rather expensive device looking at full retail.

The disparity of a phones value gets even murkier here:

Samsung Victory is 399.99 MSRP on Sprint postpaid but 249.99 on its pay as you go offering.

Optimus Elite is 249.99 on Sprint Postpaid but yet 149.99 on its new pay as you go offering and even cheaper @ 129.99 on Virgin Mobile. Same phone, same carrier, 3 different prices.

  8. Not to say one is better than the other (I have both) and to avoid an OS debate there seems to be more information on Apples cost than others.

"IF" (according to Google searches) it cost Apple around 200.00 to make an iPhone 5, does the Samsung Galaxy S3 or Optimus G have anything that would justify a much bigger cost?

Doesn't Foxconn make handsets for various vendors?

  9. If there were no device subsidies, I would not be able to afford a phone ever. So I like the subsidy model.

    Sure you could.

There are some pretty decent phones on Boost Mobile under 200.00

Is it an Optimus G or Galaxy S3? No, but if the carriers all moved to a non subsidy model (which they won't) the handset manufactures would have to adjust pricing. That even includes Apple.

  10. Maybe I'll go buy the G before it gets too old then.

Does Sprint cap roaming data? Or just term your service if the ratio is too high?

I believe it was in the neighborhood of a 300Mb allowance and it's 2G.

That could have changed but use too much voice or data while roaming and I believe it's one warning then a service termination notice.

  11. The update for the South Florida Market sucked D=

I hope they ramp up installations like they are doing in Chicago.

I understand the frustration in SE Florida as 3G is unusable where there have been no upgrades. I couldn't be a Sprint customer if I lived here year round.

Parts of Hollywood aren't too bad but it can't come fast enough.

  12.

Are you saying Sensorly isn't mapping your data? Or nothing is showing up at all? iPhones are unable to map due to a limitation imposed by Apple. In case you hadn't seen that yet. If nothing is showing up... not sure.

Well, I got the app figured out now and I guess it's due to the limitation of my device like you stated.

I'm almost on Halandale Beach BL @ 1A and must be picking up LTE from US1 in Hollywood.

  13.

Yeah that ain't gonna happen... I actually keep a T-Mo phone in my glove box as a backup/loaner for friends,

Are they still your friend after using it?

A back up T-Mobile device? That's odd, I thought if one used T-Mobile THEN a back up device from another carrier was warranted.

    :)

  14. One thing you folks arent talking about is customer service. Verizon has so many loyal customers because their customer service is leaps and bounds ahead of Sprint and AT&T (I have no experience with Tmobile to give an

Oh I don't know about that.

Sprint was terrible under Forsee but it was a top priority under Hesse and I think it's excellent. Verizon and AT&T were good also.

Sometimes people rate customer service low because they can't get what they want.

  15. I like Sprint (obviously) and I like the fact that I don't have to watch my usage. I know what my bill is going to be every month.

Word of mouth is still the best form of advertising there is and maybe it would behoove Sprint to bring back some type of referral program. I don't see any mention of it on the website anymore.

I own a small business that generates RMR from my customers and I offer billing credits when a customer refers someone to me and I get the account. It works out well for both of us.

  16. You should consider doing what I am doing.

You can put your sprint plan in seasonal standby @ 8.99/mo and do prepaid t-mobile (starting at 30/month for 5GB 4G/100 minutes, ending at 70/month for unlimited everything)

But that's assuming T-Mobile works for him.

I'm just below you in Providence and T-Mobile (to use a popular Don Imus saying) can't suck enough.

If Sprint is damaged goods then T-Mobile must be destroyed.

  17. It's disturbing to hear people that left Nextel (and there were millions of them) when it was imploding don't know/understand/realize that it was not the Sprint network folding. But yet, I have friends that left Nextel and would never ever try the Sprint brand because they believe they were one in the same.

Even the dim wits at my local Radio Shack would tell customers that since the merger Nextel and Sprint use the same exact towers.

We know the merger is history, we know the difference and what lies ahead but it's tough to change peoples perception.

  18. Although T-Mobiles network is tiny, where you get connection, it is far superior to ATT. Data speeds are higher, voice calls are clearer and they don't drop as often (still drops but not literally every other call), and customer service is substantially better.

T-Mobile is beyond pathetic in the big picture. Almost the entire State of Delaware is EDGE/GPRS with poor coverage.

Why not just pull out if your going to half bake something?

They are fine if you live in a major metro area and don't ever leave it.
