  1. Well sorry guys but it makes me feel a lil better knowing im not the only one with horrible data.. Im in warwick/west warwick area and my 3g is horrible.. Im pretty upset over this because i pay for 4g data and there is none..  just got the galaxy s4 and still no good.. somethings gotta give

Well in the spirit of not turning this into a rant I'll say this:

We pay a premium data fee because of the device, not the network.

I moved from the South County area to Cranston this week and it's a night and day difference (for the worse) as far as data speeds go. However I do think the pattern is to upgrade outside the bigger city areas first here as is evident by what's been done.

If you were eligible for the S4 (on upgrade) why not return it and bounce to T-Mobile for a while. I have several friends who left Sprint with the intention of returning once NV is completed.

  2. Man, I like this phone so much, I'm having trouble restraining myself from posting in every thread where people are asking "should I get a Samsung or HTC" and evangelizing for LG

I certainly think it's as good as (actually better than) the S3 and simply suffers from brand recognition.

I liked my EVO LTE as well.

  3. Djw39, I like the phone a lot, can deal with the ergonomics but I don't see myself wanting anything bigger.

  4. I'd like to share a little story with my fellow RI peeps.

I had reported a service issue on Block Island (where I spend a lot of time in the summer working) and I received a call from someone who identified himself as being from Sprint Ericsson who was on the Island. I was impressed that I had only reported the issue on May 17th and that they had "Boots on the Ground" on the Island in only 3 business days.

We spoke for a bit about the service issue out there but of course I could not help but to try to pry some LTE information out of him.

What I learned is that by and large the majority of RI will be GMO sites (which we sort of knew anyway) and it's been progressing well but that the big delay right now is the back haul. From what I gathered, they are not going to light up LTE sites until most of the back haul has been completed. I guess it makes sense to not have one sight go live in Narragansett then another in Johnston with one in Warwick a few days later. I couldn't get a timeline as it's mostly dependent on the back haul providers right now.

  6. Best signal phone I have ever seen. I am on Sprint. Zero complaints all around. Consider it vouched

Thank you. I don't always understand why there is such disparity at times between handsets.

  7. Phone runs very smooth for me. Very good radio peformance also.

Not to bump an old thread/post but I'm thinking I want an Optimus G.

I have found the signal on the S3 to be pathetic, the EVO LTE to be so so but the iPhone 5 is stellar.

Can anyone vouch for the signal strength in comparison to other phones?

  8. My Airave 2,5 keeps loosing the GPS lock as of the last few days. It's been fine for 4 months.

It's frustrating at the very least and tech supports solution is to send a replacement antenna.

Anyone ever hear of the antenna going bad?

  9. still waiting for LTE in Central Delaware (Kent County) I cant stand being in the middle lol it always seems New Castle County and the beaches get everything first for reasons that I DO understand but still lol End gripe session.

I was just in Sussex County for several days and while LTE is at the doorstep in Salisbury MD I did find 3G speeds very good.

  10.

In my aunt's house in Hialeah (around W 60th St and W 18th Ave) Sprint service has been atrocious (no bars and around -103 dbm) for the past year, making the 3G unusable to pull up even the simplest of webpages and calls dropping etc........So it looks that Sprint service has improved SIGNIFICANTLY and it seems its going to stay. Now my question is, what could have made such a significant increase in signal strength? There haven't been any 3G/4G towers accepted near this place that would provide an increase to the signal.......

Do you know if new panels were installed at the tower that serves her location?

They may have the "tilt" adjusted differently as well.

  11.

Does anyone know what Sprints plans are for rolling out 4g in MA?

I don't want to sound rude but I'm about to switch carriers because of the slow 3g and lack of 4g.

    Anyways thanks for the help.

    :)

  12. I avoid both of them like the plague. US Airways has more modern planes. American has the MD 80/88 fleet that's like a noose around their necks. They also have way too many other plane types, making maintenance difficult and mistake prone and expensive. I hope they get to modernize their fleet.

Not to mention pilots having to be trained/certified on different aircraft.

Southwest operates the Boeing 737 and that's it. Saves money all the way around. It will be interesting to see what they do going forward since the merger with Air Tran.

I'm lucky, Southwest has a big presence here in RI and offers direct flights to Fort Lauderdale (I winter in Hallandale a lot.) as well as Tampa and Vegas .

Jet Blue just started flying out of PVD and it's been great since they created fare wars between the two.

My last purchase was 140.00. R/T.

  13. For me, I use my Nexus 7 at home and at the office now. It is so much more convenient than a phone for me. In fact, now my Note 2 has been just relegated as a phone. I may not even really need a phablet anymore. I'm thinking a 5 inche smartphone would be perfect for my meaty paws!

    Robert

The 4.7" screen on the EVO is perfect for me but if I stumble upon a Note 2 I might give it a rattle. I may even try trading the iPhone 5 on CL for one.

  14. I returned the Nexus 7 today.

I just couldn't warm up to it for some reason. Maybe I'll try a Note 2 but I doubt it. My EVO LTE is perfectly fine when I am not near my computer or Laptop.

Maybe I'm a dinosaur, maybe I'm old school, maybe it's because it was more of a want than a need and I bought it out of curiosity.

It's funny, I have an EVO LTE, an iPhone 5 and a Nexus S 4G that are just for me that I switch around.

My wife on the other hand has a basic Flip Phone and last year I bought her a Vizio Tablet for X Mass as I wasn't even sure she would want or use it. Now, you can't get it away from her while she's home.

    Different strokes for different folks.

  15. I regrettably spent a little time over at the sprint community forum this weekend end. Its ridiculous how pissed off and impatient some people are over there. It is almost depressing.

Probably just a bit of human nature in there. AT&T and Verizon are well ahead no doubt even T-Mobile has decent network speeds if your lucky to be in their coverage area. It's just nobody likes to be last.

It's the same on other forums as well and no bigger complainers than those on Virgin Mobile prepaid whining about slow data speeds on their 25.00 a month plan. Ironically, those who tether while circumventing the tethering fees are the loudest.

  16. I've been with Sprint since circa 1998 when they were a 2 tower operation in Providence. What got me to join them was there was no roaming as long as you were on their network. I used to think it was robbery to be on your carrier but be outside of your home area (even a State away) and pay roaming plus long distance.

I thought my single band Denso Touchpoint was cutting edge coming from what seemed to be a 2lb (due to the extended battery) Motorola analog flip phone. Let alone the "transportable" I had before that.

Patience can wear thin but I really like the path that Sprint is on right now. I think Hesse & Co. have done a tremendous job considering what was inherited from the Foresee days.

Sure, I want it done yesterday like most of us but I can remember being in many places that had no service at all and that's not the case any longer. Another good thing that came out of the failed Nextel merger besides 800Mhz was the co location of antennas. Coverage where I need it is on par with the Big 2. I certainly can wait a bit more for a brand new network.

  17. I don't know but I'm having second thoughts with my Nexus 7. I just might return it.

If I'm hanging around the house I'm usually on my desktop. If I'm in bed and trying to fall asleep my EVO is all I need to check stocks, the forums, etc.

If I go away, I bring my small Laptop as I need a Windows based program for some of my vendors and client software. It's a rather small (11" screen) Acer that's only about 8 months old.

Just undecided I guess, I've got 12 days to decide.
