1. Worked around 10:30AM Pacific Time (SF Bay Area)

Checked at 6:30PM on two FreedomPop Freedom Spot Photons and 4G connects, but any request just redirects to a 4g.freedompop.com portal.

At last, I can stop using them :)

  2. i really think they should make the data plan like tmobile. make it unlimited no throttling until 5gb, and after 5gb, 3g speed only. I forgot to put wifi on the other day and youtube/netflix ate up so much data.

Throttling sucks , & you said 3G speeds , 3G speeds are nothing special , NV 3G goes from 1.50 to 2.30 from what i've seen I wouldn't want to go from 10 (Providers Varies) to 1.50-2mbps pshh ain't nobody got time fo dat lol .

    It's 2G/EDGE speeds after the throttle-point. Basically 56k. (Hey, that's like Sprint 3G sometimes!)

Throttled to 0.5-2Mbps "3G" instead would be much better - 56k is unbearable to use (how did I do it before?), but it's less unbearable when it's 56k on LTE latency. Sounds strange as hell, but I had to experience it myself..

If I'm not mistaken, tmobile changed from 5gb to truly unlimited.

They have tiers, and truly unlimited is now one of them. Most customers are okay with getting throttled after 2GB or 5GB. The option of switching on demand is nice, too.
  3. <

Are you selling your sprint phone

Cause if you aren't I think you can still map on sensorly with a deactivated sprint phone. Just have it upload via wifi only. Worked on an old 3g sprint phone of mine. But that was 3g. I'm not sure sprint allows 4g connections over deactivated phones. Test it out and let us know.

I tried already :( no LTE, not even eHRPD. EvdoA all the time. SignalCheck can't even see LTE.

At some point in the past, I mapped with my deactivated EVO Shift 4G. I was able to map WiMAX intermittently, but mapping WiMAX wasn't worth the trouble.

  4. May I ask where in San Jose you are? If T-Mobile is as good as you say, I might need to give them a try. What is the phone you are using on T-Mobile?

North. Nexus 4. I'll let Sensorly do the talking (mapped mostly by me): http://sensorly.com/map/4G/US/USA/T-Mobile/lte_310260#q=95131

I believe this is now too off-topic, so if you want to continue discussion about that, shoot me a message!

(or if there was an appropriate forum thread, that'd work too, but I wouldn't expect one on s4gru)

  5. That sucks. Doesn't seem like there's that many vocal mappers in the bay area. Thanks for the help. Enjoy T-Mobile. Maybe see you again.

I'm still lurking because I want to see Sprint have that "4G everywhere" network that I'm waiting for (that T-Mobile somehow delivered here.) I just can't contribute to the search and the Sensorly mapping. :)

  6. From Oracle Arena:

    5/2 - Game 6 vs Denver Nuggets

5/12 - Game 4 vs San Antonio Spurs

I'm pretty sure I was connected to the Oracle Arena site, which is listed as 3G/4G complete and the only one in the area, yet for some reason, LTE strength was solid, but speeds were really slow. It got up to around 1Mbps while the game was on (meaning people were off their phones), but I was expecting more from a complete site. :(

Unfortunately, my time here has come to an end.. I've disconnected my Sprint line, since T-Mobile has been working great for me. It's been fun times for the past year with you guys, getting excited over newly-completed towers and mapping a ton of Sensorly.

Now I'm having fun mapping T-Mobile (the majority of the bay area was done by me) :)

  7. The Sensorly data at the moment shows stuff from other nearby towers. I'll do some more plotting later.

Sensorly must have been backed up.. yesterday's data is finally up (last checked about an hour ago)

Uploaded a bit of T-Mobile LTE this morning as well! Can't wait to see it on the maps.

edit: oh weird, it's visible at certain zoom levels

  8. Getting LTE at Mission College! (last checked on Wednesday 3/20)

The tower here has been NV Complete for quite some time/many months.

The Sensorly data at the moment shows stuff from other nearby towers. I'll do some more plotting later.

I believe this tower also serves the nearby Mercado shopping center as well, so finally, some relief there!

  9. What puzzles me is that I've been mapping since like the end of February and nothing has been showing up on that path to my school. I don't get it o_O.

Second, you could have Sensorly configured to only upload data collection over WiFi, but not ever connecting to WiFi.

This, and you can hit Menu>Details to see the datapoint count that's pending upload ("Messages to send"). It should increase when you're collecting points, and decrease when you're uploading them. This will help determine if you're uploading them at all!

  10. Awesome! I have some friends around there that would really like that. Does that tower cover Union Landing?

There are a few towers between the completed tower in that area, and Union Landing. The ones that service Union Landing aren't complete yet.

  11. Thanks. I stay mostly above 101 in mtn view. But I go dinner once or twice a week on Castro, never got any signal. So must be a new tower.

Unfortunately, the tower closer to most of the restaurants is still "in progress", and wasn't broadcasting LTE when I walked by on Thursday 1/24.

I don't think all towers around MV are upgraded yet. Some definitely are, as I do see LTE periodically, but even if you're standing outside at the Caltrain station, there's no LTE in sight.

Yeah, definitely not all. The one near the Caltrain station is the same one I referenced above :D

  12. I have a dropbox & im talkin about posting pictures to the website , it says I reached my global upload quota , im asking if it resets ?

Unfortunately, the limit for members doesn't allow for more than a handful of screenshots - I brought this up to Robert and he raised the limit for sponsors to hold a bit more. If the server is this pressed to hold images, it's a good idea to host them externally (imgur? dropbox works too)

  13. I uploaded a bunch of results today (12-15 hours ago), but they haven't appeared on Sensorly as quickly as they usually do. Anyone else seeing this issue?

I'm uploading another few thousand as I type this. Don't want them getting lost..

Alright, points I've uploaded ~24 hours ago are up, but not the ones from 12-15 (again, coincidentally) hours ago. Think it's just a huge delay.

    Edit: now those are up

Edit2: and now my most recent set of points appeared almost immediately.

  14. Yes, I saw that after downloading the app.. and I have read that. Good info.. I came to this site for coverage in san Jose anyway since I've been seeing one of the spots I am usually at light up as 4G for a little while. I'm not too concerned about the rest of Fremont area as where I work is covered. Now just to wait for where I live and locations I am most often at..

Sorry, I totally posted that before I saw your second post. :P Welcome! I wish my office was covered..

  15. Well I looked through the last nine pages of this thread and haven't seen anyone mention this .. I have been getting a steady strong 4G LTE signal where I work in Fremont, CA on the corner of Grimmer Blvd & Fremont Blvd. I get it inside the buildings and much stronger outside fastest test result was 30 up 22 down. Been getting this signal for about 6 weeks straight now.. I will download that app and see what's on it and try to post or whatever more areas.

Those areas have been plotted on Sensorly for a while; perhaps indeed no one posted about them. Definitely check out Sensorly, and contribute when you can.

If you donate, you can see the exact locations of towers, and which towers have completed work.

  16. Is airplane mode really necessary? I see everyone else doing it, but for me, switching between LTE/CDMA and CDMA/EvDo works really well. Usually I'm connected to LTE within 1-2 seconds of hitting LTE/CDMA (If I'm in reach of an LTE tower of course.)

Whats the news on the Galaxy Nexus? Is it playing nice with LTE? (though I suppose I am running ROMs so that could effect that)

It does, but I've also experienced a bit of hanging on to 3G in an obviously-4G area. I think it just varies. Plus, it doesn't help that I'm usually in a moving car.
