  1. I went to the Sprint store this afternoon to actually try out the Sharp Aquos and long story short ended up with the Note 4. I was surprised they had any since I thought there were shortages. Couldn't connect to an LTE signal at all at work while my Mega did. I had to call in to get it fixed. A few minutes later, it was working.

    So far I love it.

Congrats! How did they fix it? I'm having a very hard time connecting to lte also...my nexus 5 just stays connected to lte all the time even on the train
  2. Ok so I got the iPhone from tmoble to test drive today. I'll start with speed at my apartment. I live next to luna park in Brooklyn. Speeds inside are very similar between sprint and t mobile. Average is around 3-5 mb/s. I went outside for some time to see how it was around the neighborhood. Basically they are good in different areas, one place sprint would get 14mbs and tmoble would get 4mbs. Another place it would be reversed. Though I did notice that tmoble has better coverage on the boardwalk. So far not totally impressed with tmoble considering I'm not even using a triband phone. I'll see how speed is at work on Monday and will update.

That's so weird... I just got my iPhone 5s test drive today also and I live 2 blocks away from luna Park... I consistently get 15 to 20mbps with my nexus 5 on band 41..tried the T-Mobile lte on the iPhone and got 8 to 18mbps but the upload on T-Mobile was a lot faster.. 10 to 15mbps vs sprints 5mbps..was gonna put the sim in my nexus 5 but needed a nano to micro sim adapter -_-
  3. Are you both running 4.3 (MK4) or something older?

Yep running lorjays root 4.3 with Knox removed and some note 3 features from xda. Although there's still kinks that need to be ironed out like you can't go into settings and check the prl and mms on stock messenger don't work but you can use third party for that like hangouts with sms integration

  4. Huh... I reported in the Nexus 5 forum that a new version of Roam Control was recently released and added N5 support. It looks as though it may have quietly (ie. FINALLY) added Note 2 support as well. I tried messing around with the different options and it works under the Samsung GS4 option under phone manufacture. I haven't tested on older versions other the newest that was just released (4.3-MK4).

I can confirm new roam control works for the note 2. I set the phone manufacturer to the s4 and when I roam and go back to auto it connects to 800 smr!! Too bad note 2 don't have triband

  5. On what parts of the line are you testing. Some parts are underground and other parts are in a trench. Unless you are at ground or above ground level I would not expect stellar service.

Tested above ground train stops from fort Hamilton through stillwell ave

  6. This is true about Verizon copper lines my area was upgraded to fiber after sandy hit. I have a big ass fios box just for a phone line... I use optimum for Internet 55 dollars a month for 50/25mbps (actually more like 59/25)..Actually nd no tax!

  7. Im starting to get the feeling that any other backhaul vendor besides Optimum, are taking their sweet ass time! Also read an article about how verizon is giving up on patching up the old copper lines and opting to go all fiber and that could also be causing more delays due to an influx of more work because of Hurricane Sandy.

  8. Service in Coney Island was....interesting. My phone was on 1x for the vast majority of the time. And it died quickly.

Been like that for the past 2 weeks. I live near Coney island and the whole area has been on and off with lte

  9. A lot of on/off in Brooklyn with lte. Hope they are adjusting the tilt on the panels because my late speeds at home next to the Window isn't impressive compared to last winter where I was getting 15mbps.. now only get 2-3 mbps

  10. Hi, I have a question guys,

At my home I get -101 to -103dbm signal(According to SignalCheck app from the market) with a download rate of 1-2mbps, pings are around 60-70. Almost everywhere in my neighborhood has LTE. Will the signal quality get better as LTE gets to final completion? Or is that the best I would be able to obtain given that I am indoors but right next to the window.

  11. So for those who have LTE onair nearby, how's the handoffs between LTE and EVDO?

Hand off between LTE and evdo is pretty good. I was at dyker golf course yesterday in brooklyn streaming the golf masters tournament it was switching between 3g n 4g on and off but the stream was pretty good and fast enough on 3g

The Grey x is from Google Talk. When they are online it is solid green. If they are idle it is yellow
