  1. Did you call and report it?

My girlfriend and I have been having quite a few phone calls to each other where it's just dead air - neither one of us has any sound in the call but we stay connected.  We have to keep disconnecting and calling again until we get a call with sound.  Possibly an HD voice issue?

Anyone else experiencing this in the Shentel area?

I did have my first HD call in Harrisburg today to one of my co-workers with Sprint. Haven't reported it yet. I turned LTE mode back on and it's working now. Seems to be intermittent. Definitely annoying though.

  2. Well, Southern Europe is doing fine, since they don't actually have anything in Italy, and ΟΤΕ is doing fine in Greece. The only "problem" unit in Eastern Europe is Poland. They've got their work cut out for them there. The rest of the European units are stable, but network modernization efforts are underway to simplify the cost structure and add flexibility to the network architecture. European units with fixed networks are also receiving upgrades, particularly convergence upgrades to enable fixed-mobile convergence offers.

DT hasn't stated that it doesn't want to fund any business in the U.S., but it has said that it is pleased that T-Mobile US is self-funding in its own right, and the company does not need to depend on DT to raise cash for auctions or other business initiatives.

You can't add more channels to PCS G block. It's already full with the single 5MHz FDD carrier. Adding more PCS channels would be in Sprint's allocations on A-F blocks.

    According to this article:

DT is not willing to take on debt on behalf of TMUS. Looks like TMUS will have to raise the capital themselves.

  3. Sprint is most definitely not as good as Verizon (who have their own issues). If they were, they wouldn't have lost customers in the last 27 out of 28 quarters. That's going back to 2007-2008, 6 years of almost consecutive losses! I have friends in Dallas who moved to Sprint in early-ish 2012 from T-Mobile, and are now leaving again because of coverage issues.

For me in South Florida coverage has never been better, the difference from early 2012 is huge. The towers near me however are not wide band yet, just AWS 10x10 and there's no 4x2 yet so upgrades are most definitely not yet complete. And since only rich neighborhoods get upgraded according to you, then work must still be going on because T-Mobile's the towers is right next to the multi-million dollar mansions :)

I believe he was making the statement that areas where subs use their devices instead of a home internet connection are slow. These tend to be areas with people who are lower down the socioeconomic ladder. Not that Tmobile isn't upgrading these areas, it's just much more saturated.

  4. Volte on tmobile hands off to HSPA+ and its seamless. In 9 months the network will be majority lte anyway

But only VoLTE calls will hand off to Wi-Fi. So LTE dropping seamlessly to HSPA doesn't help you there. Also, even if T-Mobile gets LTE up and running across its entire network in 9 months, LTE doesn't have the same reach as HSPA which will still end up causing issues with handoffs. I agree they've done the best with what they have but it is not an ideal solution.

  5. I have an S4t and the call I was on was unmistakable. You will know when it happens. My wife has the original S4 and I've never noticed it while talking with her in the Shentel area. I was in Allentown, PA when I received a call from another Sprint customer in the Allentown area when I noticed it.

I've never experienced an HD call in Shentel areas either.

  6. I know this is not the thread for this, but.... My G2 is not a very good performer. The RF performance is somewhat deaf, the GPS sensitivity is poor and worst of all I hate the sound quality in the earpiece, not to mention the speaker. My Samsung GN3, really outperforms the G2 by leaps and bounds.

I agree on the speaker/earpiece being awful on the G2. And the LTE radio isn't anything special however the B26 connectivity is much improved. If I went into any kind of structure that wasn't directly next to a tower previously I'd get no LTE. Now, unless I'm deep in a building it holds onto LTE very well. Might want to give it a shot.

  7. So to be clear, the link was targeted… but if you HAVE the link, the deal will work, right?

    (Link meaning sprint.com/framilyswitch)

It's getting confusing, some people are making it sound like it only works if Sprint specifically sent the link to you. That doesn't appear to be the case once I click it.

I might be able to get 7 new Sprint customers on board with this.

If you didn't directly receive this offer, and see it under your "My Account", your Framily ID will not work when someone enters it into the promotion site.

  8. Okay, so I'm reading over the transcript of the call again to make sure I typed things up right and I caught this passage from the Q&A:

So Shentel customers have been complaining about lack of LTE once they hit Sprint's native network. Man, Shentel customers are spoiled. Lol.

It is a stark contrast to go from an area with LTE/800mhz live to slow old 3G. I can see how it affects their sales since many people who live in Shentel areas work in Sprint Corporate markets. This is especially prevalent in the Frederick, MD. area.

  9. I believe for now all they did is connect the current bonded T1's that are there for voice to the future 4g LTE equitment so data and voice run off the same connection. No new data has been installed at the site yet.

I am not 100% so someone correct me if I am wrong on this.

I did notice Robert mention that the new cabinets can split the T1's for voice / data when it's not all required for voice traffic. Either way, it's a welcome addition!
