  1. I wouldn't say this area is complete, although I would agree that it's pretty damn close. If you're talking about the western part of Cleveland proper I might have to agree with you. That's the only place I've been able to pick up eHRPD in months on Sprints network in Cleveland along with 2 Mbit+ download speeds.

In downtown akron off rt 8 there is a nv 3G complete tower, other than that I haven't seen any work in the Akron/canton area on sprint towers.

That's the way it seems! I prefer it that way! The whole choppy move your head this way, hold your phone that way, does not work for me! Hopefully the NV 1.0 will bring me pretty stable LTE and NV 2.0 will give me my in building voice! Fingers crossed!

You should definitely get better in building coverage after NV. Now in terms of LTE, you may or may not get that in buildings. Due to the more fragile air link, LTE will drop at low signal levels, even on 800 mhz. On at&t for example, I've had LTE drop a couple miles away from the tower outside, with trees inbetween me and the tower and switch the HSPA+ on 1900 mhz. If it wasn't for the increase in efficiency, capacity, and speed; LTE would seem like a downgrade from older technologies.

I've never had this issue. I have no idea what it means.

I believe it means you've had a memory leak in Firefox and ran out of RAM. I've had this happen when I've been programming and accidentally wrote an infinite loop.

  4. I don't give this site much credibility. Most of the people giving reviews don't know anything about how cell phones/wireless networks work. Their tower locations are also very inaccurate, not even showing half the actual towers. I'm 99% sure it just pulls them from the FCC database. Bottom line: don't go by what people say, judge a carrier by your own experience and get what works.

It seems like sprint has about 60% of the towes at&t does in my area, but still works fairly well (still some holes I'll admit, but I think NV will fix that greatly). I've had access to at&t's internal mapping software, so I've seen their towers.

How are you using 100gb a month on a wireless connection? What ISP do you have that throttles you?

Makes me glad I live in an urban area where Verizon has deployed FiOS.

At&t throttles DSL at 150gb and uverse at 250gb, though I'm not sure it's actually implemented, they haven't even figured out a way to meter it last I checked.

  6. Here's a pic of [site redacted]. No NV yet, but I thought I'd share the picture anyway. Not sure which panels are sprint. I know the bottom panel is at&t LTE. I've never seen any panels like the dark grey ones at the top before. Not sure about any of the other panels, except that sprint, t-mobile, and verizon are also on this "tower". Is that not the prettiest tower you've ever seen

  7. Hopefully they will continue on South into the Akron area. I am in Cuyahoga Falls, Wimax stopped a bit North of me so I'm a bit salty!

I saw a tower right off of rt8 and Howe ave. that had a whole array on antennas removed. Not at&t or verizon on that tower. Maybe it was Nextel equipment? Ill see if I can snap a picture.

  8. Ya that would be very helpful. I just need an idea where to start to get in contact with people. It's been a few years since I've worked in the industry, so I don't haves many contacts, especially on the network side.

Edit: I would really love to use this as an excuse to visit a cell site to talk to some engineers :D

  9. I'm writing a research paper for school on the effects or lack or effects of mobile phone radiation on humans. I would like to interview professionals in the industry to get some additional insight. Anyone know the best way of getting in contact with someone who may be interested in speaking? Thanks in advanced!

No single provider should be able to hold the licences to more than 50% of a spectrum in an area in my opinion. Holding both sides of the Cellular is just plain wrong. Having that along with ~ 30% of the PCS and all of the 700? And throw in a bit of AWS for good measure, it's just ridiculous. Regulators should never allow something like this.

Comeetely agree with you, where I live, verizon owns 100% of the 850mhz spectrum due to the alltel merge. Regulators simply don't do their job.

  11. Battery life has been superb on my iPhone 5. I stream about an hour of music, at least an hour of browsing a day, some texts, and I can get throughout than a full day. In fact, sometimes I get more than 24 hours from a single charge, I'll just charge my phone before leaving for work in the morning. All while connected to LTE 99% of the time.
