  1. Does anyone else watch BBQ Pitmasters? I am always hoping that someone would do ethnic variations of BBQ (like Char Siu).

Does anyone have experience with Turkey Fryers? I am thinking of purchasing one.

Just bought a turkey fryer today for tailgating and maybe Thanksgiving. Hope to try it out soon.

Is it an electric (indoor) one or is a (propane) outdoor one?

I am thinking when I get one, I will also try to make carnitas.

We've used a propane turkey fryer for years.

It's not turkey until it's deep fried with a garlic butter injectable seasoning and a Cajun Rub.

Stuck on the Poor Man's HTC for now.

How do you filter your used deep fryer oil?

  2. I make carnitas in my smoker.  I use a Chimayo red chile/garlic rub on a pork shoulder and then smoke it for 10-12 hours with mesquite lump and tabasco white oak chips.  Emmm, emmmm, yumm.  *drool*

And then cook it in a crock pot in a red chile stew for about 3-4 hours.  Then shred, and skillet brown it.  Best carnitas in the world.  Fry up some fresh tortillas, and you have one of the best dishes in thee world.

Did you build your own smoker? If so, can we see pictures of it?

  3. What would you consider putting a strain on the network. I hardly use more than 2GB a month. I am not planning to watch YouTube/Netflix everyday. I would appreciate an answer to my original question and stop this thread-jacking.

  4. Why should LTE matter in your house? This is mobile broadband, not a home broadband replacement. You should have a separate broadband provider at home with a Wi-Fi access point for your mobile devices.

    AJ

Why should I have to have a separate broadband connection at home? I am allowed to consume unlimited data by Sprint, so there is no worry there. I want the ability to watch YouTube and Netflix on my phone. That being said, for argument's sake, let's say the same situation applies to work (instead of my home) and I definitely don't have a wi-fi connection at work. Wouldn't it be nice for me to be able to watch videos on an LTE connection on my phone during my lunch break? Just saying...

  5. So there is no way to tell if a Alcatel-Lucent tower has been upgraded to LTE without testing a LTE connection? In other words, I would like to upgrade to an LTE-capable phone, but if the tower closest to my house will not produce an LTE signal that I can receive in my house, then I will not upgrade. Right now, the tower in question has been NV upgraded to faster 3G speeds. Would I be able to differentiate between an upgraded NV tower versus one that been modified with an LTE panel?

  6. thats from the ones on san fernando..if u botice its pretty weak..I work at portos bakery and inside I dont get any 4g as soon as I go outside I get.but barely reaching 1mbps down.

You work at Porto's? So when you going to give us the S4GU hookup? ;P

  7. I've had the same issues as this. Phone calls usually work, but there is pretty much no data. Text messages don't send or receive either. Its usually fine before the game but when most people show up in the 2nd or 3rd its pretty much completely gone.

I always show a great signal when these issues happen. it just doesn't work because the massive amount of people.

Robert - Will NV benefit us who try to send text messages at sporting venues like Dodger Stadium and the LA Coliseum? I usually get very good to great signal at both venues but it's always a challenge to send text messages when either is close to seating capacity.

  8. With Baseball season coming in a few weeks, it will be excellent. Now i can drive people crazy with my at bat app going and watching the game. Go Dodgers!

I'm guessing you will be using the At Bat app around town (as opposed to at Dodger Stadium) because one of the improvements the new owners will be implementing for Dodger Stadium is Wi-Fi. Then again, who knows how good the Wi-Fi will be, especially when a game is a sellout. I too can't wait - love the new ownership and can't stand that the Hated Ones have won two of the last three World Series.

  9. 3G is improving there it seems.

Epic 4G Touch? My wife has that one. Is there an issue with the virtual lit haptic keys going out and pressing themselves? Ugh. 2 phones and several hard resets later...

I haven't had that problem. My biggest issue is one that is pretty universal for most E4GT owners - weak GPS signal/not getting a GPS lock.
  10. Anybody in the Venice area notice any improvement in signal (cell, 3G or 4G)? I have relatives that live off Lincoln in the Venice area and service has always been sporadic for me, when I'm around there.

I live close to the tower near the IHOP on Lincoln, and I noticed a great improvement on 3G service since that tower was upgraded. I always get over 1K down even during peak times, and close to 2.5K at night. I can't comment on LTE since I have an Epic 4G Touch.

  11.

Right now on my back yard. Its incredible how fast this is.I just downloaded a movie on my phone,it was almost 2GB and it took less than a minute.

I hope that's not really your real residence. Some shady people might your address against you. Maybe you sensor this part of the screenshot?

  12. if you're willing to spend about $100, there are plenty of Galaxy S IIIs supposedly in excellent/mint condition on craigslist selling around $300. Then, turn around and sell the Epic 4G Touch for about $200. Now, you have an LTE phone AND still have your upgrade in 2013.

I a little weary of buying cellphones (or anything expensive) off of Craigslist. I feel I have a little more peace of mind with eBay but the prices are more expensive.

  13. that are should have,u are surrounding for LTE all around, the reason might be that anyone has not drove by that triangle.

I guess I am still miffed that I cannot get WiMAX outside of my residence, let alone inside it. I realize that LTE has greater signal strength, but you can color me skeptical.

  14. The suspense is killing me. Whereabout are you looking to fill in? I'm in Glendale (nights and weekends anyway).

Sadly I'm in the Marina del Rey area between Admiralty Way/Lincoln Blvd/Washington Blvd. Seeing a spot that should be filled in is totally like me. Like if I see a loop in a cord, and although it's not doing anything to affect quality, I will go out of my way to straighten it out.

  15. Are there any S4GRUers willing to filling a blank spot on the map? (I'm looking at your rayluis1988) LOL I'm still under contract til mid part of next year, but I am still interested to see if a patch where I live has LTE coverage. All of the areas I'm surrounded by do.
