  1. It's probably happening when it changes towers to compensate and provide better service' date=' which is more draining on the battery when I am equally distant from 2 towers.[/quote']

Yeah me too. It's the Sprint crap zone. I get -93 in my apartment and then I step across the street into -70.

  2.

That would still be no service' date=' it's just that your phone was no where near a tower. Are you on at&t or T-Mobile, as you mentioned GSM.[/quote']

Sprint, I just thought that's what the signal indicator was called. It was weird though because now its back to -83 and I haven't moved at all.

  3. I will look into it more and let you know.[/Quote]Thank you, I'm curious as well.

My gsm went -122 for about half a minute. No service is -105, does that mean I had negative service? ;)

  4. Thanks for the reply Scott. Turns out he didn't have the phone I thought he did. (He's 11 and wasn't sure what service his has.) But for future reference, is there a general “go to” procedure or tutorial I can check out to get a basic idea of how to get data working on these Metro flashed phones?

  5. For some devices' date=' NetMonitor will be a better app than CDMA Field Test.

    Robert[/quote']

Is their anything iPhone friendly? The only NetMonitor in the app store is for wifi networks and I'm not sure how field test mode will help me here. Also, Signal (in Cydia) doesn't work on my firmware version yet.

  6. My cousin has the Sprint version flashed to Metro PCS. Anyone know how I can get data working for him? Or know what I should search for?

  7. Frankly' date=' I like the keyboard more than Android and Windows Phone.[/quote']

The keyboard was the main selling point for me on my iPhone.

Close your eyes and type a very long email with it. :-)

I types this without looking. :P

I hope both continue to do well so it will keep Apple on their toes and improving its mobile ecosystem. That's a net win for everyone.

    Good point.

    ..........................…….…………

I think (hope) that Apple will start incorporating “features” that have been jailbreak tweaks for quite some time such as Sbsettings and 5 Icon Dock, as it would go with their image of simplicity. They should also bring back CallLock, the ability to lock the phone during a call without hanging up on your mom.

  8. In other words' date=' they are going to jack up the prices and offer their products to businesses on the premise of less apps and more security than the Apple and Android competition. It may be their only chance at remaining viable.[/quote']

    Pretty much.

  9. I never download "large" files via 3G. I even have 1Mbps+ speeds. Its too slow for large files. I download large files on WiFi.

I usually don't either, but I have absolutely no wifi anywhere near me (trust me I'd be using it) so occasionally, I have to tether my laptop to my phone. This is where simultaneous data and voice capabilities would be very handy.

  10. I can just imagine a bunch of people using speakerphone in a nice peaceful restaurant so they can also use data.

Yeah-- or those stupid Lt. Uhura earpieces...

And when they fully implement PTT on CDMA and you have to listen to someone blaring their conversation on speaker in the checkout line at Wally World.
