  1. Is there any updates with the Bethesda - Frederick - Gaithersberg MD site? I know I can go to Baltimore and get Sprint LTE, also I can get it pretty well in Hagerstown MD too. Just nothing in the middle with Frederick.

I can't give you specifics about Frederick Md and Gaithersburg but I can't give you an overview. Gaithersburg and part of Frederick is being deployed by the Washington DC Oem (tower guys).

Then the Baltimore Oem guys come west on I 70 and fill in. Frederick is right on the line of the two markets. Evidently Maryland has two switching stations near Hanover which control the Baltimore and Washington markets. Some of Frederick towers have received Ehprd enhancements some have received backhaul enhancements. Other than that nobody seems to have a handle on when they flip the switch.

As a side note Shentel or Hagerstown is a separate Oem and It's not considered Sprint corporate. They have deployed very quickly.

It's a huge task to coordinate

  2. I get it that the Sprint Corp Washington DC market has no relation to Shentel. But I am curious if the Alcatel-Lucent resources that have installed the Shentel Antennas and Ground components were rerouted from the Washington DC, NOVA, Maryland DC Surburban area because they just were not ready to make the upgrade. I would believe Alcatel-Lucent has finite resources. You would think sprints deployment would try for the biggest population 1st, but a glitch at the most densely populated area would require a plan 'B'. Shentel is so close to Washington DC that the two market can not be entirely seperate. You never know what deals may have been cut. The Summer storms in the DC area were very rough. Shentel may have assisted in repairs and got moved up on the LTE list. Shentel is not doing its own tower work are?

  3. After poking around some other sites and not getting a Jelly Bean update. I found a way to get my update. This may be old hat to most but was new to me.

    Anyway to get the update.

Settings-applications - all-goggle services update - clear data -force stop- back to update - mine came up with last checked 12/31/1969. That didn't work. What I read was most people had to try twice which was my case FWIW I didn't force stop he second time. So.. I got the Jelly Bean update.

  4. Robert, now that we have a little bit of historical information.

What is the 4G LTE tower completion rate / week in the Baltimore area. Doesn't seem to be real aggressive if you don't average in the initial roll out towers.

Also, I have been trying to fill in some of the LTE spots on Sensorly but that seems to be meeting with limited success.

The tower handshaking between 3g/4g/3g signals seem to struggle in the Baltimore area.

Washington area while traveling south on Rt 29 close to the Beltway i-495 I was getting full bars good pings around 110 but d/l speeds in the single digits. Probably 6 towers worth. Similar to when the 4G LTE was 2 weeks out in the Baltimore area. Just an observation. No scientific backup.

  5. From the peanut gallery. 4G LTE

    Not moving, full bars

YouTube, Application updates from the play store, Web sites all pretty much worked like my home Internet connection.

I guess the app downloads were the most 'work'. As fast as I could click they would download.

For once it didn't feel like a Boa Constrictor trying to eat a Sheep. The information flowed like a highway not a dirt road.
