  1. Hmm.. Then there is probably something wrong with your phone. I have heard about a few issues with iPhones connecting to CDMA networks... don't know much about it though. You may want to get your phone checked out. There is no reason for it to drop the connection while looking for LTE, unless it is erroneously thinking there is an LTE signal, trying to connect, and not finding anything.
Yea i think thats what happening because it only happens when i have LTE turned on, i heard some people were experiencing the same problem but i don't think there much they can do about it, only fix is to turn LTE off until we get it, and i hope transitions from LTE to 3G are that bad on the iphone when the network arrives.
  2. Your phone wont drop the existing CDMA connection while searching for LTE. It doesnt work that way.

What do you mean it "keeps trying"? If you have your phone in CDMA/LTE mode, it will occasionally scan for LTE, but it won't try to connect to a nonexistent network. If you phone keeps dropping the connection, either you have a weak connection or there is something wrong with your phone.

My phone doesnt have a CDMA/LTE mode like the android do it only has a LTE switch and whenever it is on the phone is always changing from 3G to the little o and then the bars go down to no service and then it connects again to the network. This happens usually every 5 minutes or so until turn off LTE.
  3. It doesn't affect the network in any other way than to aid with the handoff to LTE. It will be needed everywhere, so they might as well do it. It will not affect that data connection on your phone.

I know it helps the transition from 4G to 3G but my phone keeps trying to connect to the nonexistent 4G network and when it tries the phone disconnects and connects again but in that process if im sending a text it fails also with calls and data.
  4. eHRPD is a software upgrade that can be applied remotely, it is available now in most markets, even markets that do not have any NV work going on. Normally large clusters or even entire markets are upgraded at the same time. It has little to do with speeds or anything else, it just helps the hand off between LTE and 3G.

But why do they do thats software upgrade if they dont have LTE? thats is probably why my iPhone loose connection every time i turn on LTE.
  5. My 3g has been absolutely terrible the last 2 days in the elmwood area. Almost unusable. Like 15kbps bad. Strange because I have been running ehrpd for a while in this area so not sure what could be going on. Just thought I would share and to see if anyone else in then area is seeing the same thing.

That is weird because i always get really good speed in the elmwood are, but last time i went there was 1 week ago, hopefully is because they are doing upgrades, one question is ehrpd only available in NV upgraded sites?
  6. I was in Wichita Falls, Texas over Thanksgiving weekend. The experience was so awesome, I even had fantasies of moving there. I was last there on Labor Day weekend and they had no upgraded sites. The 3G network was unusable. Now 3/4 of the sites have been upgraded. LTE was around 4-7Mbps with a weak signal and 25-37Mbps with a strong signal. 3G was 1-2Mbps on upgraded sites.

Outdoors LTE blankets approx. 90% of the city, except a small patch in the Southern part of the city. Indoor coverage was only available within 1.5-2 miles of a site. But will be more uniform when all the sites are complete. Sprint LTE outperformed VZW LTE and Tmo 4G in every test I performed.

I cannot wait for NV improvements to come to my area.

Its good to hear NV will do what they advertise, the thing is i dont think they are taking care of the network the currently have thats why is performing so bad, so wile we wait well have to use the slow unreliable network. The only thing keeping me with them is knowing those improvements are coming someday, and that combined with the good price and plans is awesome.
  7. Houston while one of the first markets isn't anywhere near 70%. Houston is around 35% complete but there is very little 3g upgrades in Houston. I have been able to get as high as 28 down but normally get around 15 on any given day. Coverage is starting to fill in up north not sure about the south areas.

Chicago is by far the furthest ahead as far as build out.

I read that online but its weird that even tho its the furthest ahed Sprint has not launched it yet, its depressing to see how slow things are going here in the west, here in new orleans theres not even testing signals and service just keeps getting worst. Also is HD voice active?
  8. I live in Austin but i've been in Houston a couple times recently. I don't think they have turned the new 3G backhaul on yet. LTE uses the new backhaul, but they may still have a majority of their 3G sites on the legacy network. I wasn't getting great speed the rare time I was on 3G, but LTE speeds were great and almost everywhere I went in the city.

If I go to Dallas anytime soon I'll probably stop in Waco for a little bit to experiment with the 3G there. I believe it's the only place in Texas where all the towers have been completely upgraded (according to the sponsor maps).

Well they've only done about 30% LTE so far and almost no 3G. I've gotten as high as 20MB

Houston was one of the fist markets announced thats why i thought the upgrades were at least 70< completed, if one of the first markets is in this conditions, i dont think im going to get upgrades anytime soon.
  9. It's in most of the city, but there are still lots of patches of 3G. I average 5MB down in most areas.

How is the network quality? is 3G faster whenever there is no 4G, has coverage improved? and 5MB is good but i hope you are getting that because the network is congested or something because thats not good for brand new network.
  10. Well, based on that, it looks like Sprint is indeed the top of the tower. If it is as you said, and the top panels are gone, they may be doing a complete swap which would definitely affect service!

If thats the price for better 3G and 4G LTE i really dont care if i get service or not, and yea i dont get how 3G wouldn't work even when i was standing next to the tower.
  11. Ok, that's one way to check too. Just know that only a fraction of towers are on that site.

If you can get a picture of the tower, we may be able to tell you which part of the tower is Sprint.

Thanks I will try to get a picture but the only good camera i have is the one from my phone, this is the tower on google maps 30.002812,-90.03759
  12. Are you sure the tower is Sprints? You may know this already, but if you become a sponsor of this site, you gain access to maps that show you exactly where every Sprint tower is in your market, and which towers have been accepted by Sprint with NV upgrades.

I know its sprint's because it was showing on their sprint.com/network website
  13. In some cases they do have to remove legacy equipment, but this is usually with the base stations, not the panels on the towers. However, anything is possible, right?
Right, i just hope it is NV coming to the tower. Not relevant but funny, I got full bars and really good 3g speeds the other day,:rofl: stated jumping because i thought it was because of a NV upgrade. Next day i found out my neighbor got an Airave <_< <_< <_<
  14. Usually the new panels are mounted on an empty space, sometimes they do move the legacy panels around a bit. 95% of the time the installation process does not affect current service.

I went by one of the towers close to my house today and the top part of the tower was completely empty, im not 100% sure but i think they had some panels in there before, also, 3G was useless even when standing right next to the tower.
  15.

This is not accurate. The New Orleans market is in the second round of network vision deployment.

Our members have identified some places where work is under way. Also Sprint has admitted to it as well.

How can I acces the sponsor map? And does it show every tower upgraded to network vision in New Orleans?
  16. Ericsson markets are way behind in 3G upgrades at Network Vision sites.

What do you mean, 3G upgrades are different from 4G? I thought when the go to upgrade a tower they do everything voice, 3G, 4G, brand new everything. Also is HD voice calling available as soon as they launch the market? Or is that coming in 2013. How much spectrum is sprint using here in New Orleans?
