  1. Today I made a call to an nTelos user who has an iPhone 6s. When the call first connected I noticed how crisp the call quality was. It sounded kind of like VoLTE on Verizon but a little less crisp. I've read somewhere about HD Voice on Sprint before but have never heard it and let alone here in the nTelos market. It sounds great :)

  2. That site is the weak spot on my drive between my parents' house and here on US-15. The nTelos 3G service is better, believe it or not. The only places where it's worse are where I'm roaming or clinging to service before roaming.

I don't know why it hasn't been upgraded but it's the one I keep hoping for most.

I really have no issues with 3G in nTelos land. That tower is the only one I use regularly that is a Sprint 3G only. I took a trip to Fredricksburg two weeks ago and most of my drive was Extended 1X. A major pain if you use Spotify

I know Zion Crossroads is not in this market but being that is so close to my home it feels like it to me.

Does anyone have any clue when Sprint is going to start rolling out LTE to these sites from Zions on the way to Richmond. It doesn't matter what time I am in this Sprint area the speeds are almost unusable. The site on 64 has no new equipment so I'm guessing it's going to be a while [emoji24][emoji24]

I have been seeing this over the past few days. LTE roaming at my house at Lake Monticello. When I head into the basement and lose nTelos service this kicks in. It starts with 1X and switches to LTE after a few seconds. The speeds are not that great but it doesn't count towards my roaming bucket or normal. Very strange

  5. I have seen a great deal of improvement over the past two weeks on my drive home to Lake Monticello. I will say the iPhone might have one of the worst radios I have ever used.

This is from my house at Lake Monticello. This is usually the speed all the time. Never really any fluctuation. I'm beyond happy with nTelos's progress.

  6. Well that's good to hear. I know someone up there with Verizon and they hate Verizon. Mb I'll be able to compnvert them to sprint :P.

I came from Verizon. I had so many issues with their Band 4 LTE that I would have to turn LTE off. They have their phones prioritized so that the good 700mhz Band 13 is secondary.

I had nTelos years before that but I can honestly say I have had zero issues with Sprint(other than customer service) and have had a few people sign up with service.

  7. Can't connect in Wytheville either but my phone still sees it in lte only. Say "Deregistered Sub" in *#0011#. It must be a recent site software update that removed Sprint users. I will keep an eye on it today but I don't have high hopes. I reported it once to sprint zone. If it is still out when I get to Morgantown I will report it again.

I am back to having the issue of dropping to 1X since we cant authenticate. Wonder what happened...

  8. Make sure location services are enabled in SCP too. :)

I'm really curious to see if US Cellular's GCI matches up in any way to its site ID numbering system. So far, I've been unable to see even a single US Cellular GCI to even have a guess.

If you were north of New Canton, you were getting close to the Carysbrook site by the school, but there's no nTelos LTE there yet. (Just north of the school, though, I hopped onto one of the sites from the lake, and then the site at Troy has LTE.) If you were south of New Canton, then definitely in US Cellular territory. I'm not sure how much data, if any, Mike has about US Cellular, so it's entirely possible that SCP doesn't actually know the provider name in those cases.

I was a good ways past the Central Plains nTelos site. I'm assuming that is the last one broadcasting since that barely covers the town of Fork Union. My iPhone would lose service right as you are passing the pharmacy and stores but my galaxy hung on until I got to the bridge crossing the James.

    Do you travel 15 frequently?

  9. Do you have your SCP logger running? If so, any chance of sending the log dump my way? :)

    - Trip

I didn't have it on! It is on now so the next time I head out that way I'll have it.

I'm sure you know the answer to this question, is it normal for SCP to not know a provider or display an incorrect one? When I first looked it didn't say anything and somthing out unknown PLMN and then I saw nTelos band 25. I was nowhere near nTelos coverage so I know this couldn't be right.

  10. Just came back from a quick trip to Buckingham after I passed New Canton I picked up U.S. Cellular roaming LTE. Last time I was through there it wasn't working. Honestly you would burn up your roaming data in a matter of minutes but better than 1X! SCP didn't know what provider it was. I do know it is USCC though. post-61131-145323379376_thumb.png

  11. I switched to a Galaxy S6 last week, its only temporary but I am enjoying it! Anyways....

I have done a good deal of Sensorly mapping in the Lake Monticello area and from Fork Union to Troy. nTelos LTE has improved 100% from when it was first turned on. Where I would lose LTE for about 10 miles on my way home I now have it. EV-DO fall back is still not working right.

Also on a side note the signal quality on the S6 has been worlds better than my iPhone. I could hardly hold LTE on the iphone where the S6 is holding on with a decent signal reading.

  12. Well, I now have LTE at my desk for the first time. Pretty good signal, but download was only about 1 Mbps. Couldn't get upload speed doe to “network communication issues" X 2

I just spotted band 41 for the first time on my Sprint phone. Over where CFA institute moved into the old MJH. The speeds were pretty good actually

  13. I will occasionally stay stuck on 3G until I toggle mobile data, and the quality of music streaming has slipped a little the last couple of days.

I usually get 800, so I changed my LTE priority to 41>25>26, but haven't seen B41 yet.

Last year when I had nTelos the first LTE I saw in Charlottesville at Pantops was 1-2 bars of band 41. It caused major issues for nTelos customers because for the 3-4 weeks it was working everything you would connect and drop back to 3G you had no data until you restarted your phone.

When I asked my connection at nTelos about it he said they were testing in home LTE with dish and mobile users were never meant to connect. So band 41 did exist at some point

  14. What kind of speed is everyone getting on the new SheNtelos LTE?

Super psyched to see some sites poping up in lynchburg, but I am trying to find the perfect time to switch back while still getting all the sprint incentives.

I generally get about 5mbps-10 and at home regularly get 15-25 Mbps. It's all about the area

  15. I rode up US-15 yesterday and confirmed that of the six nTelos sites I pass, Carysbrook, Gordonsville, Madison Run, and Orange all do not have B25. Palmyra probably does not have B25. (I saw the signal on my analyzer, but not strong enough to have been on the tower I was passing unless it was just very weak for some reason. More likely I was just seeing B25 from a distant site.)

The tower at Troy, though, south of Zion Crossroads, did appear to have B25 according to my analyzer (got up to -65 dBm on it), but my phone would not connect to it. There wasn't a good place to pull over and tinker, and a profile update as I was going by didn't bring it up either.

I can also confirm that the Sprint site at Zion Crossroads also still does not have B25.

Finally, and off subject, but nothing pisses me off quite like dropping from B25 LTE at -105 dBm to Verizon 1X roaming in a matter of seconds, with nothing in between.

Thank you for this! I noticed the same thing about the site at Troy. Will not connect but my phone will hold on the B25 from the site at Lake Monticello.

  16. nTelos had lte they just did not open it up to sprint users. Now they are opening it up.

It should be wide spread now we just need to map it to find how far it spreads. I thought nTlos had a deal with someone to test home internet on B41.

Last year in Charlottesville band 41 was open for nTelos users. It only lasted a month and was very weak, but from what I was told they were testing with Dish Network.
