  1. So... I've only ever updated radios when they were part of a ROM.  How do i update to .15 (that's a radio, right) only?  And how do i flash back to my current radios if i have problems?  I've done plenty of tweaking of my phones in the past, but i've never actually updated the baseband only...

  2. I concur.  The only geolocation issue I have had is that my compass was practically ass backward.  While driving down the road, it would show the heading pointing the opposite direction.  But calibration of the compass fixed that problem.

I think perhaps my compass needed calibration.... i just did it, and it seems to be behaving better...

  3. I've had similar issues unless i turn on wifi while using GPS. It's odd, but i've just learned to turn on wifi if GPS acts up...

yes. I don't know if it is related to the LTE launch in my specific area as we are not fully deployed, but in gMaps and others that depend on GPS I will find it jumping all over the place in the last few weeks

  4. Thanks for the info

I can't seem to see what the power output is of each. I may decide which Nokia model based on that.

Those of y'all with them, are you seeing normal (3-4 hours) charge times that are generally equivalent to USB powering?

Also anyone know the amp output of stock wall charger? 1.0?

Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk

Seems roughly equivalent to charging on USB, yes.

  5. Did u see 910 model there?

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

Nope.  But they didn't have the 900s out either.  I had to ask, and then ask again about matching the online price ($25 per charger plus an extra 10% off for buying 2).  They had to call the manager who approved selling them to me for less since their in-store promotion was $20 each with purchase of a phone.  They let me have them at that price even though i wasn't buying a phone - or even an AT&T customer!

  6. Anyone here using the Nokia 900 charger ?

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk

Yup.  Got 2 of them from my local AT&T store for $20 each.  Love love LOVE them!  One on my desk at work and one next to my bed.  I always thought wireless charging was a silly luxury that i'd never take advantage of.  Now i can't imagine not having it!

  7. The best car mount for phones,GPS is the Mountek MT5000 from meritlin.com for $16.99 (with code) .The one you hook to the car vent  ruined the vent blades on my RAV4

Where'd you find the code?  I can't find a current one online anywhere...

  8. I just picked up two of these Nokia DT-900 wireless chargers.  ATT has them on sale for $24.50 and you get 10% off each one if you buy two.  I think the percent off goes up even more if you buy 3.  Free shipping as well.

So far it has worked fine.  It isn't picky about placement at all.

I saw this deal the other day, but (being the instant-gratification type of guy that i am) i stopped in my local AT&T store to see if they had these in stock and if they could match the online prince.  The in-store deal they were running was $20 per Nokia wireless charger.  It was supposed to be "with purchase of a Nokia phone", but the manager said he'd sell me 2 for $20 each, so i'm a happy guy.

I've never tried wireless charging before, but with the battery life not being as stellar as my Note 2, i decided that having a wireless charger on my desk at work would make a lot of sense, and having one next to my bed would make wrestling the charger away from the phone when i get an early morning phone call or email no longer a problem.  So far i'm very happy with these, and they work with my Nexus 7, too!

At $20 per charger, how can you lose?

Hmmm.. called my best friend and my mom.  Both said i sounded no different than usual... Maybe i'm always "broken as all hell"...

  10. I'm eagerly awaiting my SIM card's arrival today.  I'm wondering if anyone has found out if we can manually activate all 3 of the LTE bands and get tr-band working now.  I live in the Chicago area, and it's my understanding that tri-band has been turned on here, so i'd like to try it when my SIM arrives this afternoon.  If there's a way to turn it on, how do i know which band i'm using?

  11. I don't want to try to activate it without the SIM in case something happens, I need my phone in the morning.

I was just going to use the website tomorrow. It already shows up on my account to activate a SIM, that wasn't there until they shipped my SIM card.

Where are you seeing the SIM to activate on your account?

  12. Everyone seems to be saying that without the SIM, the N5 is a Wi-Fi only device. But people also seem to be saying that the N5 needs the SIM to access Sprint's LTE network. But what about good old CDMA? I'm getting my nexus tomorrow and my SIM in "3-5 business days," but I figured I'd still be able to use my nexus until then. Am I wrong?

Well... there's also the point about the 32gb version isn't in the Sprint database, so activation isn't possible for these even with a correct SIM...

  13. What exactly did you do to get that to work. They told me no last night.

I just told them that i purchased a Nexus 5 from Google and i needed a SIM. I told her i had contacted them yesterday and they sent out the wrong SIM (a 2FF) and i needed to get the correct one (a 3FF).  She said no problem and put through the order.  The only thing that made me slightly unhappy was she said it would take 3-5 business days and wouldn't overnight it.  But, i have received a shipping confirmation, and i'm expecting to get it on Tuesday anyway...

  14. It seems clear to me that Sprint its not ready to support this phone until November 8 which is there official release date. That seems to coincide with what date Google Play customers would receive theirs by shipping as well though it seems like some customers will get theirs a day or two sooner than that. My guess is starting on Monday there's going to be some crash training going on at Sprint in preparation for the 8th. Everybody on the internet, clamoring to try to get information before the 8th is just too early for Sprint to be able to react and support. I can't criticize sprint for that. Now, starting on the 8th if they don't have answers or adequate sim inventory, then I think that is a whole different issue.

What you're saying jives with what i experienced and what the rep who sent me the correct (i hope!) SIM today told me.  She said that even with the SIM, I may not be able to activate the phone until the 8th since that's when the Nexus 5 will be added to their system.  It will be very interesting to see what happens next week...

  15. Well, with a little advice and support from my new friend Aerxx, i was able to get a Sprint rep to send me a 3FF SIM card.  I'll have it by Wednesday.  Unfortunately, my Nexus 5 (and the incorrect 2FF SIM) will arrive on Monday...  Still, at least that part of the nightmare is over!

  16. Same thing happened to me. I'm going to be driving around trying to find a SIM card Monday afternoon.

I'm hoping the dude in the Willowbrook store who took down my name and number will call me Monday to say that he's holding a SIM card for me, but i'm not holding my breath.

Aerxx - since it looks like we live in the same neck-of-the-woods, please let me know if and where you find a SIM, and i'll do the same for you. :)

  17. Mine has made it to the local UPS hub.  I'm tempted to go into UPS My Choice and change the delivery to "Hold for will-call" and see if they call me to let me pick it up today.  However, i'm afraid i'd screw myself over and end up having to wait until after-hours Monday or Tuesday...

Does anyone know the answer to this questions: assuming the Nexus 5 doesn't come with an activatabe SIM and Sprint repair centers don't have SIMs when the phones start showing up on Monday, would there be any harm in activating the device online?  I'd assume it'd work over 3G and with voice, and when a SIM is available, it'd turn on LTE, right?

  18. Sprint says since the order has reached the warehouse, they cannot cancel it, and won't ship me the correct one until I receive the incorrect card.

    Beyond pissed at this point.

*Sigh*  I guess i'll wait and see what comes in from Google and from Sprint and if the guy at the store calls me back.  If they can't/won't correct your order, I'm sure i'm in the same boat.  Here's hoping that Google actually ships these with SIMs that Sprint will activate...

    NOT holding my breath.....

  19. I have been on hold for 20 min waiting for them to cancel my 2FF order and get me a 3FF card. ugh.

This is a complete cluster****.  My order is also for a 2FF.  I'll be watching intently to see what happens with you before i proceed.

I wish Sprint would have people ready for this. If I wasn't a much of a tech-geek, i could see ordering this from Google and assuming that i could just activate it easily on Sprint rather than planning ahead with the help of this site.
