  1. How is this possible on the iphone 5?

I find this hard to believe. I have had the Iphone 5 and a hotspot and never been able to get more than 2 meg down. Most of the time i have to turn off LTE and only use 3G. Have not had much success all over st. pete.

  2. There's a crane at the tower on 66th just north of park Blvd installing nv panels. It's the tower that has what looks like a Doppler radar on it.

Just went by that site, looks like they have some panels up there was another built and on the ground.

here are 2 photos from this morning.

  3. And note that BSIDs are diff from serving cell.

No way to determine. Just have to use your LTE Engineering screens to find them. Depending on your phone type they are grouped together by the 3 sectors. What type of phone are you using?

  4. Kinda just have to figure it out for yourself. Stand in front of the tower and take note of what the BSID is. Typically I have seen a range of three depending on which section of the tower is broadcasting your way. So if you noted a BSID of 8511, drive in a different direction and see that it has changed to 8510, you are still connected to the same tower just a different section. Make sense?

I know the BSID's of two nearby towers and use it to figure out which tower is serving me at a given time.

Thanks, i just was not sure of the tower id was part of the cell id or how to determine without driving to the site.

  5. That's your 1x BSID.. And it may not even show correctly. Only ground work and serving cell IDs figure out where a site is at.

How can you determine the tower based on the serving cell ID. I have done some searching and found no results.

  6. What tower are you taking about? If your talking about the one on the radio tower between park and Brian dairy that's not up yet. I hope it comes online soon though as that would be the closest tower to where I live.

Yes this is the one the Feech is talking about. All their equipment is there and backhaul was just installed. The company i work for has equipment on the tower so i have access to site. It is interesting to watch the progress of the different components get installed having access. I will check the progress later this week as the other day the fiber backhaul was just installed and not connected to any of their equipment.

  7. I'm tempted to say the Starkey site is up..I drove by today. Usually I lose the 4G signal from another active site when I am slightly north of it. Today I held the signal quite a bit further along with some spotty hits on Brian Dairy.

I will be out at that site this week, i will check and see if their fiber has been connected.

  8. i drove by there yesterday because things were lighting up in Tampa so I decided to take a look. There was a SUV there looked like a Dodge Durango with the gate open.

That belongs to a guy that works for Clear Channel, they are installing a low power FM. The tower crew that has been there over the past few days has been our crew working on our equipment. A subcontractor came out and pulled fiber from the telco to the sprint equipment. It was is now waiting to be connected to the equipment, i would assume based on testing ISP's that it should be active within 30 days.

  9. Yup that's the one. I didn't map north/south but if you look at the sponsor maps you will see the handoffs for this tower in all directions. Right now though I don't think there is any down tilt at all on it. I was able yesterday to carry the 66th at site all the way and hand off to 49th. It was impressive

are you talking about the sites complete map?
  10. Mike the 49th st guyed tower is live now. I also think they did something to the downtilt on the one on 54th and 66th because my coverage changed yesterday

Are you talking about 0900 tower at 49th and just south of 70th ave? that must have great distance.

  11. Today I noticed LTE at my home in pinellas park, either they have changed the tilt or another tower is live. The ones closest to me at * however the only one that i is in progress is *. Does anyone have an update that it is operational? None of them show in progress. Just for a reference i am at 58th street and 94th avenue area. Today i was able to get LTE along 94th from 49th to 66th street.

  12. I'm all the place over here and can't find it. Looking at the sponsor map from my phone is useless damn near. I had to toggle because the 3G there is pretty strong. I had the signal on Gandy right until I got to about 19N I am thought maybe it was coming from Mainlands but it wasn't. Sensorly shows a strong signal but I'm thinking not. It fell off pretty quick when I started heading north on 19

It is not the tower at mainlands, they do not have the panels yet, neither does the one on gandy by the dong track.

  13. I have been by there a few times looking but haven't seen anything. You're right though that space is tight and you may miss what you would be normally very visible as a Sprint site.

The permit you got pictures of sounds like the AT&T install that was done a while back on that site. Usually the crows nest would refer to the upper most site on a monopole.

When I saw that site sometime ago they had a crane and we're replacing the panels. It was New Tech but it was at&t they were working for. It was one of the first sites I saw and was just about the start of this thread

Yes we must have seen the same crane. i thought it was only a few weeks ago, time flys

  14. This is the site at 19 and mainlands blvd. There was some working going on there setting new panels with a crane, i can not tell if they were for at&t or the sprint panels I have attached the tower and photos of the permit.

Also has anyone seen permits for the site on gandy near the dog track? i have seen activity at the site some days as i drive by to goto work but cant tell the writing on the trucks.

  15. Mike did you take a look at your signal strength? That tower over by the Largo Mall throws a signal and the one by 54th does the same. I wonder if you picked up one of those..

Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2

That is possible, my signal strength was only 2 bars. I thought it would not be that strong being under the base of the tower. See the screen shot on the link for my signal strength and speed test while that that site.

  16. I am currently at the starkey road site and looks like their work is compete with the exception of their backbone. I do not see any fiber, they currently have several t-1's there is a new cabinet that is hanging on the back of their telecom interconnect and the LTE cabinets are powered on. I have LTE signal however the speed test from here is nothing more that a couple of meg down and 1.5 upload.
