Has anyone in N. Raleigh (Near Creedmoor Rd & Crabtree Mall) been having issue with data? Ever since yesterday morning and this morning on my way to work, I couldn't get data. Only the upload light would light up and not the download light, so I couldn't get anything to work. Refreshing the Profile doesn't work, neither does restarting the phone either. When I get near downtown it refreshes itself and starts working again.
Yeppers
Something is wrong with a few of their towers
And some definite dead spots.
Take your phone up leesville to the four way stop sign at Mt Herman church.
You will have almost full bars, but will lose data.
Every time.
Tried with my s3 and the wife's evo 3d
They really need to "fix" things instead of putting them in this crazy stage
They turned 4g on at the ray Rd tower the other day, but had nothing setup to route the data.

From what I hear, there are going to be a lot of on and off of lte for the time being. So don't worry. Should only be for a brief time.
-
Apparently the LTE at beaver creek is being turned on and off sporadically
the tower covering Grace Park in Morrisville is on and doing LTE now.
-
Was just at Office Max in Apex/Beaver Creek and got LTE!
Just texted my buddy, and it works all over Hadden hall over there.
he's stoked. (amusingly, he works for Sprint, and I told him to check LTE. he's going going to try and get sensorly running)
-
Mapped some of the 4g on Sensorly over by 54/Maynard and Cary Parkway. Decent speeds too.
Also happened to have lunch with Sprint guy, and was talking to him about the backhaul crap.
Seems all the wires in the area go to the office on Weston. (I know in one of these threads someone was asking where the switch was)
And they are constantly upgrading/changing fixing etc. He overheard them basically saying what we've seen. Don't think anything is "final" for a little while. Where you see 4g today you might not tomorrow. Within a month or so it should settle down, and sites that get turned on should be able to stay on.
I'm hoping. It's nice when we actually have it to be able to use the internet. Now I just wish they'd get the RTP towers, so I can use my phone at work.
(My boss might be paying them off to do those towers last though)

there is an LTE site at page rd/tw Alexander. Don't think its live, but the equipment is installed.
Its not.
That's where I always ride my dirt bike
:-)
The 3g speed is actually pretty good there though.

So do I need to download sensorly or something? I live in SE Durham and work in N Raleigh.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
It's kind of cool to see where the coverage is.
And if you find new 4g to map it out. But it doesn't "help" getting better coverage. :-)
-
So off-topic question (maybe) Is it me or is something up with texting in the area? I get my texts on google voice but not on my cell phone.
I've had that happen several times in and around Cary.
-
I'm up at Massanutten right now and having 4g everywhere is great.
I can't wait for Raleigh to hurry up

So the tower on Six Forks is marked complete, but I'm not longer getting 4g at all over there.
is anyone else?
Do they do something silly like turn it off as they "complete" the towers so they can have a "Raleigh go live" date and turn on like 15 towers?

????? As far as I know text messages are not dpendent on data speed but rather voice connection. In other words if you have a signal you can send a text. If you had a signal and could not send a text then either there was a network issue(on going work or overloaded) or there is an issue with your phone.
That's very true
Sms is sent on the control channel
Sms mms are kind of weird how they are designed.
That said it's very much the network.
But I can use wifi and Google voice to send a text in that case trying to find a friend who decided to bury his jeep up to the frame and need someone with a winch to pull him out.
It has been getting so much worse lately it's sad.

I hope so
I literally have to find wifi to do anything.
I had full signal earlier today towards wake forest and speed test failed the ping. I couldn't call or text. I tethered to my vzw ipad to send a text.
-
Yep. I think they announced it as the market. So that implies the tiny towns.
But I can't even send sms on a lot of the towers in n Raleigh lately. I'm going on vacation a lot (snowboarding) but if it's not better soon I'm going to end up giving up. I'm not alone on this either.
It's ridiculous that I had to find wifi last night and Google voice to send a text.
-
How is everyone's speeds? I'm still not getting good speed, only once and and a while.
Nope. Unless I'm on 4g it's almost unusable.
-
I mapped up on six forks.
The 4g wasn't working by the rugby pitch. I just know they were working cause they keep leaving the sprint lock unlocked.
-
Yep. just past Hodge road on Poole.
Oddly, today my phone is connecting to the 4g up here again. Sat at Chick Fila at Six Forks and Forum with 4g eating a chicken sammich

Good for you southerners. It appears all the northern ones are turned off now. Or at least my phone won't connect to any 4g at places it was working previously.
Sprint's contractors are definitely working on the tower at the Rugby Complex on Poole Rd. They keep leaving the ()#()@()$@ gate unlocked, including this past Saturday left it wide open.
The funny part, when someone from our team called, the person he talked to said "We don't know of any work going on in your area"
Good to see communication working great.
-
Grrrrr.
So I think they are just taunting us with those few towers. Get us excited, then wander off to another market.
-
Nope. I had it driving around and at the home depot on Strickland and six forks. Didn't have it inside though. mapped some more with sensorly while looking for a new tire for the mower. Sadly coverage still hasn't made it to leesville.
-
I got some 4g further North. Out Mt Vernon Church to Norwood then Norwood over to Creedmoor. Good speeds too.

Nice. I was wondering, hadn't seen it anywhere else and I was hoping they'd migrate down the 540 corridor towards RTP.
Since the next two towers or so would get my house at Leesville.

Amusingly it appears to only be one tower. And within ~200 yards you not only get no 4g you barely get 3g. At the tower I roamed.
-
Since Fayetteville was named by Sprint in its 120 city list, I wonder if work has already started down there too, but no one is running Sensorly down there? Hmmm.

I actually ate almost in fville yesterday. I got ehrpd but no lte. But I didn't cycle airplane mode anywhere outside of the bbq joint.
I might ride through there again soon.
I've now found another reason for my wife to make fun of my excuses for going riding.
-
I can has 4g
Creedmoor to falls of nuese on 540
I ran and uploaded a map from sensorly. It auto connected to it as I was driving.

Yes
Then they turned it off for a while.
Now it's back on.
