anyone know if you can take a "Sprint prepaid" galaxy s3 new in package and activate it on your "regular" sprint plan?  wife's s3 is almost completely dead, and she's got a few more months to stagger along before cheap upgrade...

Trying to pick next phone, I am leaning towards the s5 sport for the rubber grip and water resistance.

(I've been caught in the rain very often on my bikes)

The LG g3 looks real nice though.  They are all the same price with how I get the phones.  Any chance the sport would not get the OS upgrades as fast as the regular s5 or any other issues with it?

All seem rootable, (probably more of an issue to make sure I don't have under armor quotes on the s5 sport?)

Anyone got real world experience comparing the radios between the three?

If anyone is having the persistant notification bug that shows old jpg downloads. Just do a clearall in the downloads section.

hmmm. apparently it was just the 23423 time hitting clear that seemed to take?  

in the meantime, t-mobile has launched LTE this week on 2 towers in Wake Forest... in areas where I couldn't get Sprint LTE.

 

Still, the only LTE players in downtown Wake Forest remain Verizon and AT&T... *sigh*

 

 

I have an extremely strong hunch that Sprint are going to abandon the Wake Forest water tower, and move its LTE antennas over to the nextel tower next to the WF police station/town hall. Otherwise I cannot understand why there have been no installs yet. Another thing that puzzles me, is that just a month or so ago... they wired the water tower with a fiber pedistool... it can be noted that cricket also leases space on the tower... just don't know exactly what to think at this point.

 

 

So is there currently an LTE install on the water tower, it's just not on? Sensorly has strong LTE mapped all around that area, but I've never had LTE downtown. Must have been short lived.

Amusingly I get lte in the Subway, but not usable outside in the parking lot at gateway....

They really are doing this migration the worst possible way to keep customers..

still no LTE in downtown wake forest, but im not really surprised.

My favorite is that you get ZERO signal at the sprint store by the factory.. That's got to help sales.

Does having a bad 3G signal kill the battery? Charging stops or even declines while plugged. I now just turn off data connectivity in order to successfully recharge the phone.

That tower rocks, but the rest of WF is complete crap. Great signal and can't even load Google.com

I forgot to map most of it but had lte from Jones dairy down to inside of 540 on 401

Working downtown Raleigh at Halifax Mall as well.

Looks like they flipped on some more in wake forest. Going down Jones dairy farm road has lte now. Once I'm out moving around I'll map it on sensorly

Get it fairly often at Capital square and yesterday was at Moore square

 

Yet to pick it up in downtown here... Still drops as soon as I hit the edge of downtown... And from southern tip of downtown to Crabtree seems to be non existent... Sprint has some spotty coverage on gleenwood ave going from 5 points to 440 crossing... Esp 5 points and the country club area...

I get the fake 4g all the time when I'm downtown.

Drives me nuts.

Ericsson employees work at the main Morrisville switch too. So I'd assume they are involved in this data dropping fun somehow.

I spent most of the day with no friggin data no matter where I was. Grrr.

I had the same issue when in cdma only mode. And since switching between requires a reboot, I wouldn't know if it's the switch or a reboot that fixes it.

So, does anyone else get the stupid network "stuck" that I get all the time on my s3?

It shows 3g, decent signal, and just sits with the green upload arrow busy. It's not actually doing anything. Usually going into and out of airplane mode won't do anything either. Only a full restart will help. Sometimes, going into airplane mode helps though. One odd thing I've noticed when it's like this, the signal strength doesn't appear to change? But maybe I just get bored and reboot before it changes. (Although I was driving towards the tower, so it SHOULD have changed I think)

85db should be a good enough signal to "work"

Turning around, pulling into spots, going back and forth from the fire dept, church and old graveyard?

I probably go by there about 5 times a day now.
