  1. I really can't reliably answer the question about signal levels as I was in church and was just trying to make sure the phone was on silent before Mass started. I do believe signal check was showing -111 dBm eHRPD on the G2 at the time though, just briefly glancing at the upper left hand corner. I didn't cycle airplane mode. When I went into the parking lot after Mass, the G2 switched back to LTE. The church is an old brick building.

I no longer have the GN3, but the few times I had it in the same building it was receiving a few bars of LTE. I didn't have SignalCheck installed on the GN3 at that time. As to what towers I was connected to ...?

I do notice however, that when I go into my basement the G2 loves to switch to 3G. Once I saw it happen at -118 dBm and lately around -113 dBm. Now whether or not there was a fleeting moment of even lower signal that didn't get displayed before it switched from LTE to 3G, I don't know. I do know that my GN3 in the basement really had to be pushed to make it switch back to 3G. I literately had to go into a storage room under the front porch to get it to drop back. The G2 doesn't take that much effort to fall back to 3G. There is a high probability in this instance that both the phones were on the same tower. When I had the GN3, I didn't think that it was an exceptional RF performer, but in hindsight it was probably pretty good... I do believe the GN3 was actually better than my G2 just from use. I have no data to back that up though.

The possibility also exists that, as you asked, what tower I was on; there may be non NV towers around me that I am connecting to causing me to fall back to 3G. At least the scenario of reception in my basement should be coming from a NV complete tower for both phones.

I've been trying to get a short video for AJ, that shows wildly fluctuating LTE signal strength when I am standing still, but today it is only varying by about 10 dBm. I did find that holding the phone in my hand causes the received LTE signal level to drop off by at least a few dBm. I would assume that's normal though since I'm probably shielding the antenna.

Sorry for the misquote on the "modem" *.img. I knew it had to come from LG and it was nothing a user could initiate from the menu system. I quoted you rather poorly.

So non nv towers make the phone go back to 3g? Does this include the error for LTE no data connection?

  2. Has anyone found a way to enable LTE only mode on the G2 yet? I hate that LG blocks you from doing so but there must be away around this.

Yes but you will have to flash carbon rom....

  3. How do you do a screen shot.. I've gotten 32 and 34 maps down a couple of times.. Lte is strong in livonia, la surprisingly to me... I haven't done anything to mine as far as enabling the other bands, so it's just straight 25..

Same button combination for recovery power and vol down

  4. Ahhhh...Carbon ROM.  The test ROM thus far.  Do you get these same types of speeds when you run stock ROM or only when you run Carbon ROM?

Hmm thank you will post screens later.

  5. Are these screenshots from the Note 2? I see a custom CM ROM that was flashed.

Carbon ROM for the Sprint G2. I use this as my stable rom, GPS works great except on LTE only, and native WiFi tether works great

  6. Have you stood near a confirmed LTE tower and did speedtests? What were your signal levels when you did your speedtests? I mean you have to keep in mind that there are a ton of B25 LTE devices out there so does it really matter if you don't get 20-30 Mbps speeds? Being in the heart of LA, I wouldn't be surprised until more sites get upgraded to LTE.

Same areas that I've been with my note I got LTE everywhere with the n2. Not the same with my g2. Not really for the 20 or so, but in places where I had -70 and a little below I had horrible speeds I'll take a speed test after my orientation today

  7. It varies with me depending on how close I am to the tower. On my way to work I don't get encounter LTE until I get to work and inside my office I don't get LTE. Its only when I go eat lunch that I can do speedtests and what not. I am not too concerned about it since we have a triband LTE phone. Once we get the Sprint Spark firmware update, I am hoping stability of B41 and B26 as well as signal thresholds for all LTE bands are fixed in the phone.

Its just apparent I'm starting to think I have a defective radio I get the exact same rf performance that I had with my note 2

  8. Signal trumps all. That is the only difference between now and before.

Have you been able to pass 20mbps frequently I've tried many places in LA, but I only get maybe 9 some days 19mbps or so are extremely rare.

  9. I've gotten up to 33mbps on band 25, so I wouldn't necessarily bet on it being band 41, but very impressive speeds none-the-less.

Oh I've seen b41 that wasn't it. It was just 25

  10. Fastest speeds I've seen on a mobile device in my possession near USC I have no idea if its b41. I'm on Carbon so yeah, I have no more doubt's about my device -107. And for the guy that bought the G2, sorry to hear that hope the second device is much better. Its a great device so don't give up on it yet.

  11. You got my Galaxy Mega a couple of days ago.

I have some concerns while playing with it hopefully S4GRU has some insight on the matter.  Keep in mind I live in Orange County, Southern California.

    1) I've noticed everytime the 4GLTE signal lights up, my phone signal bar drops to 1 bar.  While when the 3G signal lights up, the bar goes to a normal phone signal range.

    2) Lately people are unable to make direct calls to me.  I usually receive a voice mail inidicating the missed call.

I was hoping someone inside S4GRU can share some thoughts.  I haven't spoken to a Sprint representative as of yet as I entrust that S4GRU usually provides a direct answer.

What was your last phone, and if it was with sprint did you have issues? If not, you may have a defective device. Many GN3's have been reported to have issues with signal.

  12. Must be a hell of a performer. My G2 after messing around with some settings is besting my old GS3 now. It's hard to imagine an even better RF performer out there.

    Sent from my LG-LS980

Messing with what settings i need to know my G2 is the same if not worse than my old gn2 at lte speeds and signal

  13. I already read it, I wasn't asking for this information for myself...I saw the article and read about carrier fallback and enhanced carrier fallback. But these issues will be seen no matter what new tri device people buy...so they might find it easier to have a brief summary in the first post or something. JS.Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk

For that then idk maybe someone will but generally it doesnt happen. I would but id mainly rehash info like look at the reviews im not that technically detailed other than this is an amazing device that has

superior build quality than what Samsung's devices.

    Better rf performance.

So it pretty much is better all around. Now will i create a thread about reasons you should get

  14. Can we sum up a bulletpoint style list of things someone should know when they consider getting the G2...maybe not listing problems, but the possible scenarios one might encounter...so someone who's considering it can get an idea of what they would be in for once they get home...I think that would be a great help. Seems like some people are seeing issues, and some aren't...but without reading all 68 pages of posts to find out, generally it looks like 2600 might be a culprit? I still get confused on which is 41 and which is 25..41 is 2600/clwr, 25 is current 1900 and 26 is 800? is that correct?

The issues some of the users are having trouble are ecfsb and csfb there if you look at the post on the wall about the g2 and nexus 5 you'll get more understanding. Now yes you are correct about the band part. Now take my advice i gave you earlier and go to a store and check them out. I doubt anyone will give you bullet points we all did the research. For me that was reading alot

  15. Good thing the GN3 doesn't have Triband. I am missing the screen size, I had the N2 and loved the screen. The first at my job and not the last. The N2 was damaged easily. I dropped the G2 three times, no dents, or cracks. I may need to replace my phone though the rf performance is about the same as the N2's. Though I had B41 connected even in a building. Anyway I'm glad I have the G2 now, the best build quality since..... Droid 2? Well out of the phonesthat I have had. Battery is good gets me throughout a days use. Cyanogenmod messed up my rotation, so for now I have that off, but everything works, except for GPS(on the rom).
