  1. I knew that NFC antenna would be moved to the top of the phone (ala Apple) with the finger print sensor on the back.  Wouldn't make sense to use it that way otherwise if it were more center placed as they are now on most phones.  Too bad it won't have wireless charging (or Sprint WiFi Calling).

I'm not buying any phone with a fingerprint sensor on the back, tried that already with the HTC one max.... I use the phone as a GPS in the car all the time with a car mount, you can't access the stupid finger print sensor when you are driving and that thing is in the back of the phone.... having to type in a backup password is not ideal while driving.

having it on the front like apple and samsung is the way to go

  2. What kind of speeds are people seeing in these markets? I'm thinking of switching back to Sprint from AT&T but the phone I'm looking at online isn't on the list, but if speeds are worth the extra cost I might grab one of those phones instead. I can't believe the deal right now on the LG G3, $12.50 a month on easy pay brings it to $300 for the phone which is absurd for that device. Through the cut your bill in half website I'm getting an offer of $25.50 a month for unlimited everything and with the G3 I would only be paying $38 a month plus tax. I almost feel obligated to pull the trigger.

now that CA is more widely deployed in Chicago, i've been getting 20-40mbps regularly along i-55 and i-290, with occasional 60mbps and these are all during morning and evening rush hours.

on an idle tower in the burbs i have pulled 110mbps before, but that's not a typical result

  3. Capacity wise (# of client served) how does 2 5x5 compare to 1 10x10?

Of course speed wise 1 10x10 would basically double the speed of a 5x5

Is there any tell tale sign in the GCI that would denote a 10x10 carrier? something similar to different sector ending denoting the 2nd B25 carrier?

My new S6 doesn't tell me the DL channel in SignalCheck Pro logs anymore :(

  4. S4GRU Member in Indianapolis market found 2xCA and just hit 119Mbps.

Confirmed CA in Chicago Market.  See post linked below

Note my S6 had CA disabled when i brought it, had to enable it myself luckily the activation email contained the MSL so I didn't have to call Sprint at all

  5. Thanks for the links.  I see where you are coming from now.  In context, I don't think it should be interpreted that it cannot be anywhere else as the same time as Chicago.  It really is discussing how Chicago will be the first showcase city.  The preeminent example.  Likely meaning that B41 deployment, backhaul upgrading, and additional B41 carriers are so much farther along in Chicago, and Sprint is pouring out more resources there than anywhere else.  It will be the prime example, and will be the first to be a compehensive example.

I wouldn't interpret it to mean that markets that are ready to have 2xCA ready will be held so Chicago has exclusive bragging rights.  Anyone reasonable would allow 2xCA to go live anywhere and everywhere it is ready, as soon as possible.  Regardless of how ready Chicago is at that moment.

I didn't mean that Chicago should have the exclusive on this, I was just surprised that this was confirmed elsewhere first if Chicago was "likely" to have this feature in testing first

  6. I don't recall it being said in any official capacity that Chicago will get 2xCA before anyone else will get it.  But even that being said, this could just be a part of testing and not a formal fire up.

Additionally, I would offer, if Nokia gets farther ahead of their Samsung counterparts in Chicago, would you hold them up from getting it going in Atlanta because it was originally planned to be live in Chicago first?  Absolutely not.  Sometimes some teams get ahead.  And they deserve an atta boy for that.

But really, here, we are lacking lots of details.  We don't know the extent of all this currently.  I have not seen any other reports from anywhere else yet.  And I haven't even heard if the Atlanta 2xCA is still live today.

Here was where i got that impression

Double checking, seem the press release did not specifically said CA but the articles mentioned it :/

  7. The ERP/EIRP numbers looks not so good, espeically B26... of course B41 doesn't hold a candle to the new iphone 6......  I'll have to read the real life experience review on reception performance before deciding on this phone

comparing the purely the B26 to the HTC One Max, which is my current daily phone

    HTC One Max ERP/EIRP

    B25 21.85 dBm B26 15.11 dBm B41 15.80 dBm

In my experience so far, by the time the B25 signal degrade so much that the tower switch me from B25 to B26 with that kind of ERP/EIRP performance, I'm getting nearly the same RSRP on B26 as compared to B25.  which mean I maybe getting a little bit more extra reach/coverage, but not any speed/performance benefit when being bumped to B26.

at this stage where the B25 to B26 hand off happen, I'll usually be lucky to pull in more than 3mbps download

The Note4 B26 ERP/EIRP only seems to be a little bit better than the One Max in this regard, with similar ERP/EIRP figure to the Iphone 6 B26 and HTC M8 B26 (both in the 18 dBm range).

Is there some reason why B26 ERP/EIRP seems to be consistently worse than other band?

  8. If the Sprint Galaxy S4 has a removable SIM with worldmode, I will upgrade to it. If it does not have a removable SIM, I won't get it. In fact, I will cancel Sprint and go with a carrier that does. It's a deal breaker for me. I am going to be researching on Saturday when people start revealing their findings.

It does, just confirmed in Anandtech's review
