  1. Which variant of the previous X are you referring to because according to Moto's website, neither of the two CDMA variants supported B26 or B41 (and as such Sprint obviously wouldn't have been interested in whitelisting them).

This happened last year. They were unsuccessful in activating it with Sprint. Apparently worked great on Republic Wireless using Sprint's network, including band 26 and 41.

  2. Plenty of international devices that are never sold here still pass through the FCC OET. In order to operate on W-CDMA 1900, for example, while roaming in the US, they require FCC authorization. Otherwise, they are technically illegal transmitters.

    Good to know.

  3. So, let me see if I have this straight...

    2015 Moto X: Moto X Play ≠ Moto X Style

I was under the initial impression that they were just different names, but they are all the same phone, same size, same specs, etc. The Moto X Play would be the international variant, not sold in the US. The Moto X Style would be the domestic variant, sold unlocked.

Now, I understand that the Moto X Play is a 5.5 in display with a Snapdragon 610, while the Moto X Style is a 5.7 in display with a Snapdragon 808. So, they are on different mid range and flagship tiers.

Are we sure now that the "UC1" and "UC2" variants at the FCC OET that we have been discussing as the 2015 Moto X are the Moto X Style and not the Moto X Play? I remember doing the math on the diagonal and projecting a 5.5 in display.

If the Moto Play is a worldwide phone (except the US), why then file with the FCC? Nevertheless, it was hinted that the Moto Play might be released in the US later in the year, although it might be thru a carrier (Verizon rebranded maybe?)

  4. http://www.androidguys.com/2015/07/28/what-is-the-moto-x-pure-edition/

"This means that Motorola’s newest flagship will not be available in carrier stores, only on motorola.com, amazon.com, and bestbuy.com. The only brick-and-mortar store the Moto X Pure Edition will be available in is Best Buy stores. Furthermore, the Moto X Pure Edition can be used on any carrier. Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, or any other carrier that sells SIM cards can be used with this phone."

We now know the Pure Edition supports Sprint's Network by the revised spec sheet, but why not mention the carrier by name?

I don't know if a Fortune.com article can be believed.  If this is true, I don't think it is good news for Sprint users.

At the end of the article states: "Will Motorola’s new approach work? It’s hard to say. Motorola made it clear after the event ended that it still has more devices left to announce this year, and it’s unclear if those devices whether or not those devices will launch with carrier partnerships." Hopefully, they announce something around the time the new Nexus 2015 arrives.

  6. Bands

    No band 26?

Phone looks good for the price-point, main concern would be the battery size to handle that QHD display.

No band 26, not for Sprint Spark then. Does those bands in the spec sheet coincide with the FCC docs?

  7. Looks like the Style starts at $399 probably for the 16GB version.

Definitely I like the idea of a Moto X option on Sprint this year. Waiting for an official confirmation though from Sprint that they will carry it, or at least allow it on their network.

  8. Keep in mind that the Motorola Mobility of old is gone. It now belongs to Lenovo. The 2014 Motorola X may have been the last true Motorola flagship caliber handset. Future products have to be considered as much Lenovo as they are Motorola. For that reason, I would take a wait and see attitude.

Related article about the Moto X with Levono. I agree with the wait and see. Hopefully, it will be worth the wait.

  9. Huawei Nexus 5 2015.

Was looking forward to a Motorola Nexus 5 in the absence of the Moto X on Sprint (which hopefully Sprint changes its mind on having the 2015 version within its lineup). I like what I see from Huawei. Don't mind it at all. Will like to see how its SoC matches Qualcomm's later on the year.

  10. My Nexus 5 is stuck on "Turning WiFi on". Factory reset, clean install, different ROM and kernel. Nothing. Nada. As it happens, the warranty expired a month ago. Bought it online in the Sprint Store. Called them and told me to go to a store to have them check it out. (Will take it during the week). Call LG and told me to mail it to them and once they have it inspected call me with an estimate.

Researched online solutions to this issue and most got RMA and a new device. Has anyone got RMA after warranty expired? Has anyone had this problem and solved it? Suggestions welcome.

  11. that could be a good point, I was having WiFi issues but I just shut it off unless I'm doing something big.

Just noticed that even though I have Wi-Fi off, in the battery data it appears on. a6917bf2d30111a68ab76a145f195736.jpg

Can someone confirm that if you have Wi-Fi off it wouldn't appear on the battery data?
