Seems like a logical progression. In addition to email, Greenlight Hubs and, more recently, telephone, Uber has been providing Uber driver support at various Sprint stores ("Sprint Spot").

    LG V30

Because the V30 wasn't impressive enough? I'm not sure I understand the point of your post.

    Sent from my LG G6

Sorry. Actually, yes, the V30 wasn't impressive enough -- for our purposes.

Seems that we are very rough on phone batteries. My first and only phone with a non-removable battery -- the Motorola Photon Q -- eventually died because its battery swelled, tearing the phone apart. Eventually that also happened to my wife's Photon.

So, the Photons were replaced with Samsung S5s. The S5s did worse than the Photons by giving us multiple swollen batteries. However, thanks to their user-replaceability, we handled that. In comparison, our LG G5s have been great. Replaced a couple of batteries but the swelling was barely noticeable; only very slight distortion on the glass gave us a clue that it was happening.

We like the features on the LG V-series. Had the V30 surprised us with a removable battery, or even a non-removable newer-design solid state lithium battery, we would have chosen it over the V20.

  2. What did they tell you?  Did they say you definitely are getting one or what?   I signed up in June and only got a e-mail acknowledging my request.

They said I would be getting one. They confirmed my shipping address and some other things about my account, and said I would receive an email when it ships.

  3. After only about two months, I'm already seeing burn-in on my screen from SignalCheck Pro.  My S5 didn't burn in for more than a year.

One would think that the S5, being OLED, would be the one with burn-in issues. :hmm:

  4. No CAx3.

So disappointing. LG can no longer run with the big dogs.  Reduced to staying on the porch.  Samsung can prevent rooting with no LG competition on its S7/S7 Edge.  Without CAx3, the LG G5 will likely be a launch failure unless the VoLTE is actually implemented soon.

This morning, my speed test shows a better-than-average-for-my-area result: a ping of 38 ms, a download of 3.52 Mbps and an upload of 1.04 Mbps. Clearly, this is a bigger issue than CAx2 vs. CAx3.

    I'll trade CAx3 for a removeable battery.

  5. Wasn't Nextel using this band in Miami-Dade up until 12 month ago? What's the problem now? Why was it ok then and not now? It's not like this is a spectrum band that was never used and now we need to like build a lot of new infrastructure for it. I know that new equipment needs to be installed in many places, but the issue seems to be with the frequency itself, not the equipment, why wasn't there an issues when the Nextel phones were using it?

    Thanks.

Good questions; I have no idea. Let's hope that someone in-the-know will explain for us mortals. Otherwise, we'll have to settle for contemplating this B26 from the 1940's:

  6. Spark is making a nice difference in South Florida. For example, I just returned from Big Dawgs 2 in Davie, where just a few weeks ago, data connections were near useless. This time I got LTE on band 41 indoors, with an Ookla test showing a ping of 49 ms, 48.66 Mbps download and 2.84 Mbps upload. Glad I stuck it out.

  7. If Sprint corporate is not behind this, I would think it should be a firing offense no warning. That kind of unethical behavior should not be tolerated by Sprint gives customers a really bad view of the company.

I agree and wouldn't be surprised if this "policy" doesn't last through the end of the day. I did post the store's address & phone for a reason... :secret:

  8. Uh I would just go to the store, and say I am here to get a galaxy s5. And if they try and throw that 60 dollars in accessories crap, speak to the manager. I've never heard of that, ever. But it is Miami, lol. No offense.

Frankly, we're not desperate... we may or may not drop by, depending on how she feels. But whatever happens, at least this is not Orlando, lol. No offense.

  9. Really? Isn't the phone released today. Are you up for your upgrade? I've never had a rep tell me I have to buy accessories to get a phone. If anything, they offer free accessories if I trade in my old phone lol

Yup, no joke, and I never had an experience like this either. But, never before had we thought to buy phones on the day of release. Could just be a greedy store manager borrowing a page from the Sleazy Car Dealer Handbook. Thing is, we purposely picked a corporate store in the hope of avoiding such shenanigans.

  10. My wife and I decided that S5s will be our next phones. This morning, she, being more impatient than I, phoned the Sprint Store at 12540 SW 120th St, Miami, FL 33186, (305) 232-8362. She was told that yes, they have them in stock in white and black, but... they won't sell them unless we buy at least $60 worth of accessories per phone. Brilliant. Whoever thought that one up should have been the one to replace Letterman.

She and I are now of like minds. We will keep our trusty Photon Qs for a bit longer. Meanwhile, we'll entertain ourselves with stories from S5 early adopters.

     . . . I know tmobile not be whole lot better . . .

    [...]

Depending on where you go, T-Mobile may be worse.

For example, my wife works in an office building near Coral Way and 12th Ave. Her IT guy has tried to convert her to the Note 3 and T-Mobile. She stopped listening when she learned that he rarely gets a signal inside the building, while she gets reliable voice and LTE with Sprint. FWIW, she gave up on WiFi at work -- most of her coworkers, maybe in an effort to stay within their data plans, or they use T-Mobile, hog the WiFi, rendering it nearly useless.

Her phone is nothing magical -- just a Motorola Photon Q.
