How about this? I will do Sacramento and Norfolk tomorrow morning. I have some data already but will need to double check a few licenses. No matter, each metro should take no more than half an hour, so that is very doable.

Metro or Market? I am an hour away from Norfolk in the outer banks (Elizabeth City, NC)

Article or doctoral dissertation? I kid, I kid. And I appreciate the interest.
I have produced several dozen documents/spreadsheets that rundown particular carriers' spectrum holdings on market by market bases. But I have never done so for all domestic carriers in all markets. Such would be a Herculean task that would require massive data mining and human review.
I wish that I could focus my energies on geographic and/or engineering based wireless issues full time. (Anyone reading, I am available.) But the fact is that I can do so only in my spare time. Teaching/tutoring pays the bills and buys things like spectrum analyzers. Then, I do what I can to satisfy my own curiosities and, hopefully, a few of yours, too.
Now, if you have a specific request -- one that I can answer or research in a few minutes to a few hours -- I am all ears. Fire away, and I will do what I can do.

Have you done anything that possibly just has Sprint/Clearwire holdings? I would also be interested in the Norfolk/eastern NC/Outerbanks holdings by the carriers. That said don't spend hours on my account.

My pleasure. If you ask who holds what spectrum where, I almost cannot resist the urge to answer from memory, check my charts, or research the info. I like to think of myself as the go to guy for licensed spectrum holdings. But that is inflating my ego a bit much.

Any chance of a future article with said information?

The network light is solid green, that means it is talking to the sprint network, it is an issue with provisioning, either a bad unit, misentered imei #, or it needs a potato.
-
Make sure to turn off all your phones, wait a few minutes and power them back up. Had this issue with a 2.0 device and that fixed it.
And if that doesn't work my best advise from years working in Dish tech support call center is "put a potato on it to absorb the negative energy"

Sometimes when I receive call from people that are stored in my contacts there names don't show up just there number. This has been going on for 3 to 4 months now so, its not related to jelly bean which i'm not running. I do store all my contacts with the area code if this matters. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
In my experience the number sent thru caller id needs to match exactly the number in contacts for the name to display however I have not had this problem with my EVO LTE. For example on some phones the inclusion of a 1 in the caller id made it not show the name. I have been told by customer service before (verizon) that the number calling is transmitted in the format sent by the originating caller and they had no control over it (I have no clue if this is true or not).

The FCC just does not get involved with the financial aspects of deals. Although, this latest argument from DISH is their best strategy to upset the apple cart. Saying that that Sprint/Clearwire application to the FCC is premature because there is an active counter offer that is in play, and Sprint may not even end up the final purchaser of Clearwire.
But if you think about it, that is true of any merger or buyout of a public company. Someone can always come along and try to offer more money, even after filings have been made with regulators. So DISH making an offer should not be enough in its own to stop the process. It would set a dangerous precedent. Now any company who just wants to delay and damage their competition, can just make a counter offer, even if there is no way it can possibly be accepted by shareholders and approved by regulators. But it could delay things for months, or even years.
The FCC should not concern itself with DISH's bid for Clearwire. They should approve or reject the Sprint proposal on its merits, and making their decision contingent on the closing of the deal. If Sprint cannot close the deal with Clearwire because a DISH offer is accepted, then the status quo can be maintained. If Sprint closes the deal on Clearwire, then the FCC approvals and conditions take effect. Pretty easy in my mind.

except dish is trying to get the Softbank deal put on hold not clearwire. This makes clear that Dish is just playing hardball. It's going to backfire.

I was top dog when I got my 300 baud with 450 turbo modem!
The world changed for me with just a few numbers. 1:3807 and my app I wrote on my 286 in high school can still be found around the internet today.

What app was that? The most programing I did was on Basic, tricks on my sister when she would try and sneak into my room to play jeopardy on my Apple IIe.

would they be separate though? both are in the same BTA which is why I was referring to the Norfolk market. I was under the impression that BTA's were the smallest that spectrum was divided into?
EDIT* AHH ok MSA were used for 850 so would prefer Pasquotank county. For Sprint holdings they would be in the BTA though correct? as they don't have any 850.
