  1. I'm almost tempted to dump Marshmallow and go back to Lollipop on my Nexus 6 on VZW. Not only am I showing issues with SCP (missing/incorrect data, stale data) I'm having constant drops in signal strength and/or complete or partial loss of LTE (only connecting to a single band when B13, B4 and/or B2 is available at a site) or even CDMA at times when LTE is unavailable (network extenders). Both 6.0 and 6.0.1 suffer this same issue. In my area where signal strength on VZW is weak I'm seeing it constantly connecting to AT&T, of course failing. Never had any of these issues on Lollipop, other than the dreaded displaying CDMA/LTE bug. I've gone through three different warranty replacements, 5 SIMs, and stumped VZW. What really bothers me about this is that I'm not finding anyone else with this same issue. Completely stock/unrooted, rooted, custom ROM, doesn't matter. Same outcome on MM. The screenshots below are from my network extender when it wants to work. SCP shows "0" for BID while LTE Discovery shows all info. Both, including the system itself, is showing a weak signal despite being a foot away from the extender. Anyone else seeing this issue with their Nexus 6 on Marshmallow, too?
  2. My Nexus 6 had displayed both PCI and GCI on VZW, TMO, Sprint (Project Fi), and AT&T for LTE. I can only assume it will do the same on other carriers as well. What's nice is that ever since the Nexus 6P & 5X were released the 6's price has plummeted. Plus, it's a great phone, too. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  3. While it would be nice to have that feature on LTE or even GSM sites, sadly it's not part of the technology like it is with CDMA. The good news is that you can use the notes feature in SCP to manually add your own location to the site. That, of course, means that you have to locate it as well. Not that m6 carrier, VZW would use it as most of their CDMA sites don't use it, either [emoji53] Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  4. I've seen this on my Nexus 6 on VZW, too, but only in certain areas or when LTE signal was weak and/or switching sites. There is an area not too far where VZW roams on USC for 1X. VZW (or a partner) started putting up LTE sites separate from USC. When these LTE sites were first turned on my N6 would always display both 1X and LTE without GCI. While the signals would appear to be correct, the data reported on LTE seemed stale and didn't update. However, both LTE and voice worked without issue. Now, about a month or so ago this issue of both 1X/LTE displaying in SCP is no longer an issue as it seems VZW might have made a change on their side as nothing changed on my end (I'm still on CM 12.1 Lollipop). With this, I'm making a WAG that part of this issue is not just our phones but the sites as well. Since I don't use Sprint, is this issue happening on certain sites ? Just throwing this observation out there...
  5. That maybe with the Nexus 5, but I thought we were talking about the Nexus 6. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  6. While doing a survey in a nearby area I found something interesting that VZW is doing with the AWS/B4 sites. In most areas I found that when they add capacity they would use a different GCI on the same site. However, with these sites they're using the same GCI and PCI while using some offset of the sector. First I thought it could've been that dreaded Android bug where it would give false information when I first seen this a while ago while in the area since the sector part of the GCI looked 'off'. I guess not! I've attached a sample file with a particular site. So far this seems to be only on AWS/B4 sites and not 700/B13. Thankfully it's not really doing anything else to SCP other than not identifying the correct band. While I'm here, as a request, have you thought about adding a timestamp to the strongest lat/long? I would find it useful in areas I frequently visit. And also regarding the strongest lat/long, it appears the entry doesn't change unless the RSRP is stronger, but my concern is that if the device accuracy isn't good and I capture a reading that will probably not get any stronger, the lat/long won't be accurate. I have several entries where the device's accuracy is significantly off (thousands of meters due to GPS failure). Of course I could manually edit the strongest_rsrp value to allow SCP to correct it for the next time as a workaround. I'm actually not sure how this could be addressed. It's not that important as I know there are other issues to address, but maybe something to think about later. sample.zip
  7. If you're talking about the numbers not looking right my guess is that Excel is changing them, not SCP. Use a different CSV editor or better yet backup the database and use a SQLite program to edit. I'm away from the PC at the moment and don't remember the program I use. 8. I use SQLite Editor to view and edit the logs without exporting them. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.sqleditor Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  9. I guess my explanation wasn't clear enough or missunderstood, but what I meant to say is exactly what you said. Nevertheless, I have found some interesting results the past few days. I normally use my new Nexus 6 on VZW, which has given strange results with the both CDMA/LTE data showing. I also have TMO service and when I use that SIM in my Nexus 6 never do I see any duplicate (GSM/LTE), whether it's stock Android 5.1.1 or CM12.1. I also found out when on VZW and both CDMA/LTE info shows, while it seems to show proper CDMA data and LTE signals, LTE data (GCI/PCI/TAC) is stale and while it says LTE is connected the phone doesn't seem to be actually connected to LTE as data speeds are 2G. This is very apparent when on an extended network when CDMA connects to a roaming partner (VZW uses USC here in areas of Indiana), but also offer their own VZW LTE-only sites.
  10. I seen some info about the Nexus 6 on Mike's update post that might be about this very issue. I do understand the phone can't (or not suppose to) connect to both LTE and CDMA/GSM at the same time. I get that. What I don't get is why SCP shows both being connected with proper CDMA data and just signal info on LTE that refreshes normally like it did on my GS5, and LTE Discovery show proper CDMA and LTE data simultaniously. On the stock Nexus 6 ROM it would only show one at a time when I have "Enhanced 4G LTE Mode" turned on. When it's off, it would show both, but no QCI/PCI/TAC on LTE. On CM 12.1, which I'm running ATM, that setting doesn't change anything in SCP.
  11. Is it a bug of Android (CM 12 in my case ATM) or SCP? The data LTE Discovery is showing for both 1X and LTE checks out with past data collected from my Galaxy S5 other than PCI which it didn't display.
  12. I'm wondering if I'm having the same issue as some of you with no GCI/TAC showing in SCP but do show in LTE Discovery. This is on a Nexus 6 currently running CM12.1 (5.1.1). When running the stock ROM it would show all LTE data including PCI & Neighbor data which was nice but wouldn't go any CDMA/1X when connected to LTE. Sent from my Nexus 6
  13. The site broadcasts GPS coordinates. SCP uses Google to convert those coordinates to an address. Some of those addresses do not convert properly and you'll see addresses like that. There are even some that will not give you any street at all and just give you the city or township.
  14. That's my guess. It also makes me wonder if the tower actually identifies as Midwest Wireless or Verizon. I ask this because I have noticed a few towers in my area actually identify as Verizon Wireless at first but quickly change to Verizon, which I can only assume it gets from the SCP SID database. These also do broadcast a BSL, which is rare for VZW, so maybe actually broadcasting a carrier identifier is unique to these towers. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  15. Maybe in that region VZW uses Midwest Wireless as their roaming partner? Just south of me VZW uses US Cellular for CDMA for their roaming partner. VZW has been agressive and deploying LTE, though. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  16. Thanks for the update, Mike. By no means did I mean I was upset that the update hasn't been pushed, but more of an excitement. I've made it this far, I can wait longer. Now I'm still on the hunt for a phone that gets all LTE data. My GS5 doesn't display PCI and the recent HTC One M8 didn't display any useful LTE data other than signal strength on KK or Lollipop. I might try an LG next. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  17. I'm trying to be patient with the Pro update but I'm getting a little antsy (not part of the beta. Being on VZW barely any towers broadcast a BSL and the app won't log anything unless I enter a user note, and even then the log is filled with Null entries. I have a trip in a few weeks and plan on doing some data collecting along the way. Also, not sure if this is something you can add for us VZW users like you've done with Sprint is to include the LTE bands (4 & 13). Some towers I'm finding are broadcasting both bands which I found out using LTE Discovery. Thanks! Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  18. This is what I'm patiently waiting for. In my area we have three different markets for VZW, South Bend, Chicago, and Indianapolis. South Bend towers (530) do broadcast a BSL and it's actually fairly accurate. However the other two do not and the NULL entries can be a nuisance. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  19. I can't speak for any other carrier than VZW for extenders but mine broadcasts a BSL. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  20. I was just looking for a device that can use this app to its full potential on VZW. Since Samsung upgraded the S5 to Lollipop a lot of the features stopped working (no fault of yours of course). I'm willing to purchase a relatively inexpensive used device that works with everything so I can continue collecting data. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
  21. The latest update to Lollipop on my VZW S5 pretty much made this app useless. LTE no longer displays GCI. PCI never worked but I knew that. Are there any decent inexpensive phones for VZW that work with all features? The list on the site show mainly Sprint phones. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
