Would all users see an immediate benefit from the shutdown? Even those of us who do not yet have a capable device for carrier aggregation on b41?
-
I am now having less b41 connections where normally I would have either Clear or Sprint b41. It's not everywhere but in a hand full of places. I updated my prl n everything else. I strongly believe some b41 went down too. I'm seeing more Sprint b41 but many places fell back to b25. Like I stated before, even my wife at work that had LTE, now has 1x. She updated and now it switches between 3G n 1x...but never again LTE.

When was the shutdown scheduled for your area? Mine was yesterday. I should have elaborated that my signal has been jumping around from SprintB41 to SprintB412 to even SprintB252. So if I had to guess there has to be some additional optimization if the Clearwire gear can now broadcast b41.

Can someone explains what happens now that WiMAX has been shutdown? Within the last half hour here at my house I no longer see Clearwire B41 in SignalCheck but now Sprint 412 with the same GCI that I saw for Clearwire B41 yesterday. Was this to be expected with the shutdown?

Yeah, I agree since having an additional carrier (2xb41) will give you a boost in speeds. I just did a speed test with Tmobile and I got 13.79/16.37 with a 60ms ping here at the office vs 3.86/0.74 with a 158ms ping on Sprint. I sure hope they fix this tower soon.

I would agree if I were using a device that supported it but my old nexus 5 does not.

I'm on the far west side of town. I ran a speed test on b41 by vance jackson and 410 and got 0.93/2.23. Ran the same test when I got home on b41 and got 16.3/12.5. Maybe with wimax shutting down after tomorrow we'll see more consistency.

Well currently my phone is parked on b41 which is great but I think the tower by my office is really bad. I have consistent pings of 400ms or more. I am at the point where I'm considering switching to either t-mobile or its mvno metro pcs. Speeds used to be great on sprint but it's gone downhill the past several months.

Has anyone noticed slower speeds and texts not being sent? I've been having this problem for over a month now especially at work. I reported the tower today so hopefully something will be done soon. Also, I've noticed my phone jumps around a lot among the 3 bands a lot more than it did in the past. Is this to be expected as certain bands on towers get crowded?

I can't say I've seen the clock issue you described but for the past several months my phone will drop to 3G in the 410/fred area. I drive that way nearly everyday and it happens all the time. The worst part is that my phone ends up being stuck in 3G so I have to toggle the radio to get LTE. I've also noticed my phone jumping around alot more between the three LTE bands. I'm seriously considering leaving and going back to T-mobile.

Occasionally WiFi will cause a massive battery drain but a system reboot will usually fix it. I haven't tracked down the issue yet but it is annoying. Does it happen when your on a WiFi connection?

Great overview Cletus and I agree with you on all points. It seems that our issues are similar with WiFi not wanting to connect to certain networks. Doze has greatly improved standby time and I do feel my SOT has improved. I can get over 2 hours now with 25%-50% brightness. I know others have gotten more but 2 hours is OK for my use. I would like to he 5x but I'm just hesitant to purchase one since I want to see what issues there are with first gen handsets. As it is my GPS is ridiculously flakey and takes over a minute to lock on which was an issue with the first nexus 5 handsets.

But why? I don't think I ever saw this happen on lollipop. At first I thought it was something I did since I decided to enable location and location history but even after disabling that I still see it.It still does intermittent WiFi scans, even when turned off.
Mine is doing it too.

Since the update battery life has been great but one thing I've noticed is that I see my WiFi appears on every so often in the battery history. I have WiFi, scanning and location completely disabled. Has anyone experienced this? Also my phone seems to get stuck in 3G alot now and has a hard time making its way back to LTE.

I'm considering doing the same. I recently broke the plastic clips on the right side when I attempted to remove the back. I've seen a few replacements on Amazon so I will more than likely replace the battery when I replace the cover.I grabbed a new LG OEM battery off eBay recently and did the replacement myself.. certainly do-able if you have some basic tech skills, but man was my original battery glued down well! Took quite a bit of gentle prying to get it out of there without destroying its outer shell. Enjoying the like-new battery life!

Would you say it's stable for everyday use? Also, notice any benefits of doze yet?Just installed M, pretty nice so far.

So I've been noticing that my battery life has gotten significantly worse. My usage isn't heavy at all but as of now according to the stock android battery menu I have 81% left with 4 hours left. I also noticed that 2 of my cpu cores have no activity on them. I've been staring at cpu z for well over 2 minutes and cores 2 and 3 haven't kicked on once. I know they'll only turn on when needed but I've never seen this before. Cpu load is also fluctuating between 20-60% usage. Ideas?

Have you noticed any difference in radio performance?Just flashed the 5.1.1 image, installing apps now. Probably nothing different, although I do see that there is a new radio firmware .26.
-
I was hoping there would be something related to either WiFi battery drain or inconsistent battery life. For me at least it seems like every update fixes certain things but not completely. I still struggle with these two especially.

Any notable bug fixes?

So surprisingly a few hours after that post I plugged my phone in to charge and within a few minutes it magically locked onto LTE and was perfect after that. I know it was a coincidence between charging and getting a signal but I found it pretty comical. My wife had the same problem at work that day as well and a few other friends reported the same problem on Facebook. But the strange thing is that now I see my phone bouncing around a lot from b25, b26 and b41. I wonder what Sprint is up to.Mmh. I had the exact same thing happen in Houston on Monday as well. My phone kept cycling from EVDO, to just 1x, to no signal all day. No LTE at all to be seen all day.
I was assuming this was a Houston problem, but I guess it was more of a regional problem. By night time, the problem was fixed and I was back on LTE. Did your problems go away by Monday night as well?

Has anyone ever had the issue of their WiFi being reported as ON in the battery menu when you have WiFi disabled? I've never had this issue but I recently noticed it today and it seems to persist after a few reboots. I have location disabled so I'm not sure what's causing it since I also have "scanning always available" disabled.
-
So today my nexus 5 has had a hard time maintaining any sort of signal. My phone can't even lock onto 3G and when it does it seems to still be scanning for an LTE signal. I've been at home all day today so maybe it has something to do with the nearby tower.
IT'S THE WiMAX COUNTDOWN!!!

So what did the average speeds go up to in NYC? And non CA phones saw benefits as well right? I'm trying to hold out on upgrading to a new device.
