Yes, the first map for every carrier shows three carrier aggregation but the maps below that show individual channel ownership and that is where the confusion is.Unless I'm not reading the same article that was linked as everyone else is or the article has been entirely edited since its first publish, I'm clearly seeing words like "Carrier Aggregation" used. The first map for each carrier is explicitly named to show off the 3 carrier aggregation spectrum availability. I don't like how the legend to some of the maps are cut off and I wish they would not show the highways. It's unnecessary information that clutters the several small counties/parishes (not sure if anywhere outside of Louisiana has parishes instead of counties) not much larger than the line size for the highways.

There has been some back and forth on Twitter this morning with Mike Dano, FierceWireless editor and Allnet Insights, the creator of the maps for the article.
Allnet Insights says that the maps only include the three largest channels of LTE spectrum that are, or will be part of a carrier aggregation strategy. Mike Dano feels like this was disclosed and I told him that I completely disagreed. The article doesn't even use the phrase carrier aggregation.
-
What does this sentence even mean? It seems like it circles back to stating the same thing that both is and isn't included in the maps.
"To be clear, these maps don’t show actual LTE deployments, only the spectrum that likely is used or will be used for LTE deployments."

TMobile is now ending Jump On Demand as well.

Yes, they have full building 802.11ac wifi deployments as standard with guest, student and faculty ssids. They've just never supported wifi calling of any kind before so we're looking at the density and bandwidth implications of doing so.Here is a simplified question for you:
Will the building have WIFI with specific ports open for guests/employees to use? What network bandwidth are you looking to install in said building?
This is a 36,000 student campus and we're not privy to their overall campus bandwidth but the building will have dual fiber entrances as part of a fiber ring.

and searching for voip codecs will provide a lot of material to check out.
Thanks for that Cisco link. That's very helpful.

Is that a public information source showing in that screenshot?a lot of spectrum

You can't really compare expected speeds across carriers when the utilization (number of customers) is different for each carrier.AT&T usually has more spectrum than anyone except Sprint, and much more of that is low and mid band. By this point AT&T should be close to having most of their customer base on VoLTE with 20x20 PCS over most of the country, and 3 channel carrier aggregation going. Yet they get beat by Verizon and T-Mobile on speed nationally when both T-Mobile have less spectrum.

We're starting discussions with a collegiate client who is building a new building, about supporting Wi-Fi calling and messaging rather than investing in a DAS. Can anyone point me to any credible technical information that would provide some guidance on the bandwidth of the compression schemes used in Wi-Fi calling and messaging?
-
Don't we already have those AT&T maps? Their coverage map has filters for 4G LTE, HSPA, 3G and Edge. It seems like they are being upfront about their coverage. My frustration with Sprint is that without S4GRU we have no idea where the pre-NV sites are because it's all advertised as LTE.Heck, there are still AT&T areas that are EDGE only. And many AT&T sites without LTE. If we had AT&T maps like Sprint, we would see they have just as many non upgraded sites as Sprint.
It's amazing to me the phenomenon that too often AT&T gets a pass for their network deployment shortcomings.

Happened every time to me when roaming in USCC territory. Only fix is to place a phone call which somehow registers you on their network. Hang up and data will be flowing. For the last several months when I've driven through US Cellular territory in KS and NE my GS7 will connect to USC LTE but I will get no data throughput. Reboots do not fix the problem.
Anyone else seeing this or am I all alone here?
Reboot, profile update and airplane mode toggle don't work.

That's a common way to save a tweet you want to come back to later.I did tweet something last night about no coverage in a particular area and the only response from him was he liked the tweet.

In my situation is was definitely roaming only.

I got the same screen shot with US Cellular in northwest Iowa earlier this month as well. It showed 1X Sprint and LTE with USCC and I had about 10Mbps speeds.

"Get something completed" WITH WHAT MONEY? They're basically in financial distress, improving slowly. They can't borrow. They are doing everything they can with the capital they have and the capital they can generate. Son can't throw more money at them without triggering the "you have to buy all of Sprint" clause thing.Monday morning qb? We all know about sprints spectrum. It's been years in the conversation. At some point sprint has to get something completed. The spectrum can't be used the way it's meant because they are still upgrading towers and fiber lines. Yes they have changed their management and so forth. Let's be real if son wanted sprint where he claims with urgency he would spend more on getting this stuff done. How is it everyone else seems to be moving faster? It seems like every step ahead sprint takes the others then take 2
They KNOW what they have to do. They aren't stupid. Previous management - yes, I'm convinced some were misguided. This group? I don't buy that at all. They need capital.

It's not backwards when your in the situation of not having enough capital. EVeryone wants to replace the roof at their house at 20 years too but when you don't have enough money to replace the roof, replace the windows and paint the exterior you prioritize. If the roof leaks, you address it if you have to.So last conference call Sprint CFO was talking about Capital spend. And I gotta, say Listening to his answer of Churn Infuriated me. I'm paraphrasing here. But he was asked about Churn and Network Spend. And he said that if Churn Spikes up he will spend more on capital. I'm sorry but I viewed that answer ass backwards. So hes literally saying we'll see how it goes. I really do hope Sprint has changed. I live in the Chicago Market but spend quite a bit in the Phoenix Market. Chicago service is satisfactory. Service in Phoenix is a different Matter. I wouldn't exclusively use Sprint in Phoenix. Even with the $50 unlimited trial they have going on. I still cant recommend them to my friends in Phoenix, Too many glaring holes. The tower that services my house in Ahwatukee still doesn't have 4G. So, Sprint is very inconsistent and that is what is killing them. And as of this moment they can talk about speed and all that fun stuff. I'd rather have a few megs of reliable service everywhere then islands of blazing speeds strategically located.
In that situation, why spend money you don't have on infrastructure that isn't causing you to lose customers?

Not being a jerk but we have heard that for what seems like years.
So take everything you've said at face value and as the truth. What should be done about it? Fire the CEO, get a new board of directors, and get a huge investment from a multinational owner? Oh, wait. They did that.
The Monday morning quarterbacking about Sprint is lame. They know what the problems are. We know what the problems are. They have a finite amount of capital and they are trying to save the company by spending what they have to spend. Pretty much end of story.

It isn't a matter of being distrustful. With a checking account if there's an error or a payment doesn't get stopped it's basically your cash getting deducted. If there's an error with your credit card you haven't lost any cash while the situation resolves itself.I didn't realize people were so mistrustful. Everything I have is automatic, online. But I also have automatic alerts if something unexpected shows up. (different part of the country, large amount, overseas, etc.) None of that has ever happened.

I realize that they use their own locations services as an input. I'm referring to the Google's use of AirSage. They Google doesn't need to buy the data... it's a "feature" of Android.

I was only using the word stuck since there are really only 2 decent map apps - Google Maps and Apple Maps. (Waze feeds google maps and I consider it a gps with gamifaction skin but each their own)
Completely disagree with this comment. The TomTom app is one of the better navigation apps available for any platform. If you want to go OSM then both the MapQuest and Scout are very solid as is the newer Inrix app.

HERE Maps has rapidly released updates after its acquisition by German automakers. There's absolutely no sign that it is end-of-life.Here maps is amazing but I believe it's end of Life after Audi and a few other automakers have acquired it and will be shuttering it.
Correct with Android you can enable any gps app to be defaulted.

I travel a bunch, all over the United States and I am always amazed at the accuracy of the ETA in Google Maps the last year or so. And I am talking about major metropolitan areas not just highways in the countryside. A couple of weeks ago I left the western suburbs of Chicago near Naperville at 4:55 p.m. with my destination at O'Hare and Google Maps ETA was accurate to the minute. I did a similar trip last month from San Francisco Airport down to San Jose and accuracy was just unbelievable. The anonymous cell phone data that they are buying from someone is just unbeatable in my opinion. With Apple your 'stuck' with Apple Maps as the default. On Android you can choose Google Maps, Waze, or even Here maps (was owned by Nokia) as default. Here maps is supposed to have the best offline maps.

NV is no where near done in Iowa either. Especially in eastern Iowa, Sprint is a mess unfortunately. Not in CT. Backhaul is still missing and tons of clear site haven't been upgraded.

I returned yesterday along the same roads that I traveled on Saturday and therefore came back into USCC territory. I again could not establish any data throughput. My wife's phone worked fine in the same spot.
A reboot did not fix it. I also tried to upgrade the PRL even though it didn't need it and did a profile update. Neither fixed it.
For some reason, I thought to try to place a voice phone call. The voice call went through and the minute I hung up I had blazingly good LTE data on USCC.
It seems as though I just wasn't getting registered properly on their network and by placing a phone call, that flipped the switch somehow.
