1. Was able to map out Kingsport and Church Hill today. 4G speeds were pretty impressive.

I think Sprint is blocking the LTE signal around Morristown and the Jefferson City exit.

I had to toggle airplane mode on my EVO to finally connect but I never could get my girlfriends evo to connect which is odd. She has the White evo and I have the black one.

  2. I stopped and talked to a crew here at one of the Knoxville sites I've been watching 2 days ago and they are about to finish the back haul of that tower within a week weather permitting. The NV cabinet is already in place as is the cables running to it I couldn't see if the ruus were in place yet but he said his crews were almost done with quite a bit of towers within this area of North Knox. So hopefully within the next few weeks we hopefully might see some of these towers coming online.

  3.

What part of town is that, mine has been fluctuating a lot, but I figure that the sun was out or that there is tower work being done.

The tower I'm connected to is the one on Hutchinson Dr next to channel 10. There is equipment and pulleys on site that has been there about 3 weeks. It's a multi site so not sure if it's att or sprint working there right now. But all the equipment is on and around the sprint cabinets.

Kingsport seems to have better 3G speeds than Bristol or Johnson CIty. Rogersville also has pretty decent speeds. Morristown is kinda weird, near downtown the speeds are ok, off the interstate you may have better luck with smoke signals. Elizabethon doesn't seem to have had any work done yet. Nor Jonesborough.

I know my 3g speed here in knoxville has dropped from about 1.4 to .60 the last 2-3 weeks I'm hoping that is a good sign for tower upgrades in progress.

  5. I mapped out some more area in Greeneville, it is showing in Sensorly now. Also near Jeff City, 4G is showing up, I don't know if I mapped that or not, since my phone was showing 3g but LTE Discovery was saying LTE.

Did you grab a speed test there off 417? I'll be out there Wednesday morning to check this if not. Keep hoping to see some in Knoxville come online soon I can tell its getting closer

  6. Someone is building a new tower at the corner of Washington Pike and Mall Road South in Knoxville. Not sure who it is though. yrasu9y4.jpg

I did some digging through the last 4 months of building permits and found that this tower is a new uscc tower. I did find that the sprint tower behind the mall did have a permits issued in October for antenna upgrades. I have also seen a lot of the permit sites with workers on the towers so February is looking good for Knoxville if we don't start seeing towers come online soon.

  7.

I do not see Network Vision panels or RRU's in these pics. The top rack looks like AT&T to me. Because what would be legacy panels on that rack also have an RRU attached. So that cannot be Sprint.

Robert
I posted a couple of pictures after those to show that this site is a sprint site. I checked on the network.sprint.com site, the cdma field test, and mapped the base station with Google maps. So your telling me nothing on that tower or on the ground looks sprint
  8. I'm currently with sprint just replied to the comment about maybe if we paid our bills sprint would pay more attention. I left Us Cellular over a year ago to switch to sprint and have since then moved my family over also. As for the Knoxville never launching WiMAX I know it was never officially launched in Knoxville and that was my point. I can get my EVO 3D back out and drive out to west Knoxville and connect to WiMAX but west Knoxville was as far as it ever made it. I've been to Atlanta and used lte with my 4g lte and can't wait for it to make its way up. I drive for a living back and forth between Knox and Nashville and Knox and battlefield ga. So I'm here to try and help users in this area Knox when and where I find lte sites that are live.

  9. Maybe if sprint was more competitive in Knoxville they would have more people paying bills. We have AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and US Cellular here all with faster 3g and Lte. And they all advertise alot more here then sprint. With both T-Mobile and US Cellular offering unlimited data please tell me why there's a reason for people to stay with sprint here.
