  1. I just got this text message from T-Mobile telling me that OnDevice is actually an improvement and that Hotspot service uses too much network resources. Just curious, I entered into an agreement with T-Mobile, okay month to month, but I an not able to alter the terms, why should T-Mobile be able to make them? I can't say: Hey I am going to optimize your bill by paying 10% less next month...

  2. I'm really curious where you had issues along I-10, at least from the LA state line to Baton Rouge.

It gets really thin near Jennings, and the site on the Basin Bridge near Grosse Tete is still GSM only, but I do not drop LTE between TX/LA line and Jennings, and from the drop in Jennings to Grosse Tete.

Also curious where you were seeing issues with TMo in BR/Denham, because even though its only 10x10 L2100, they've got tons of 5x5 L1900 on air, especially along I-10,I-12,I-110, and quite a few sites along/near Airline and Florida. No L700 on air yet however.

My only trouble issues in BR are near I-10/Seigen and downtown BR north of Florida, LSU's campus (and Tigerland). Just curious of the discrepancy in our two experiences. Not saying its perfect, far from it, but we've had two very different experiences.

I had Edge before crossing the river into Baton Rouge from the west but between the Texas border to Baton Rouge, there is a lot of area that is very badly covered. I had some massive problems around the Hollywood Casino in BR.

Denham Springs was pretty bad as soon you drove into sub-devisions and I got always NO SERVICE, no fall back roaming.

  3. So I took a business trip from Houston to Baton Rouge in I-10 and T-Mobile was not up to the task. My Verizon iPhone with Unlimited data was working without any issue 99.9% of the time while T-Mobile dropped down to EDGE several times. Even in Baton Rouge, LTE data on T-Mobile was extremly slow and not working at times. Ran several speedtests and T-Mobile was at or around 1MB down. Sprint was working well, not as well as Verizon but close and even into Denham Springs, you were able to see what a difference Sprint made in a year. B26 all over the place and areas that had 3G last year are now running B25/26 & B41.

  4. I have no idea about the status of the network in Jean. All I know is the relay chain starts in Jean, runs to Sandy Valley, then through the desert to Pahrump.

I just checked and according Sprint's coverage map, Jean is still 3G. I know the signal from Primm reaches quite far, almost to the Jean court house but not inside the Casino. I will be in the area during CTIA and I may do a drive-by after the show.

  5. We have no Band 41 equipment on the 2 Sprint sites in Pahrump, but they are full build sites so we will get Band 26 at least in addition to Band 25.

As for the Microwave setup, they are running it from Jean through Sandy Valley and then out to Pahrump. The sites on 160 between Vegas and Pahrump could feasibly get LTE B25 because the equipment is PCS with the GMO set up, but I'm not worried if it happens or doesn't. I just want it in Pahrump.

Jean has finally LTE? Last time I was in Jean, the network was just 3G and LTE (B25/41) was in Primm.

  6. You hate GMO's like I do. However, I have full build sites worse than many of the GMO's I've used in the last 6 months.

Trust me, I see this currently in NoCal at my office and I am not happy with the lack of speed. A tower has been down for over a month and Sprint does not seem to be able to fix the problem.

  7. I believe I also hit the second carrier, somewhere in San jose

San Jose, Fremont and Milpitas seem all to have a B25 second carrier.

Yeah that looks like second carrier in San Jose. Their GCI range is a bit higher than SF's (SF's always begin with 0A6 for B25 and B26).

If anyone has any SCP logs I will happily take them and process them for new finds.

We have a premier sponsor thread where we track B25, B26, and B41, but I never made a Sponsor map/thread because B25 was on almost all the sites already by the time Robert's source dried up. However, now that we're getting a second B25 carrier I can consider making a Sponsor level map if there's interest or if it will entice people to send me their logs. I just don't know how many active Sponsor level members we have in the Bay Area.

The only issue I have is the very slow speeds lately on B41 in Hayward which are really sub-standard around .05MB down and 2MB up

  8. I still go out and map as new LTE sites go live around here. Though the final site went live with LTE last month, so now I'm not sure what to do... ha

I hope that Sprint is still adding LTE sites because I know too many areas that still have 3G only while everybody else is running LTE. Sprint has really dropped the ball on some of the high traffic freeways, especially the I-15 between LA and LV.

  9. Well you just confirmed the 2nd B25 carrier.

It's a 5 MHz FDD B25 carrier located on 1855-1860 / 1935-1940 MHz in the 20 MHz PCS A block allocation that Sprint owns in most of northern california (1850-1860 / 1930-1940).

is there a possibility to see 10 Mhz FDD B25 in NorCal? How much spectrum has Sprint available?

  10. I've been experiencing slow network issues in sf for the last 2 weeks. Anyone else have any issues? S7E and connected to b41 and sometimes I get hangs or check apn settings message.

I have seen this too. At times B41 is not providing any data at all. Very bad and it seems Sprint is working on the network in my area.

Woah really? Can you send me your SCP logs? That's a huge deal if it's not stale/bad SCP data. Last I checked Sprint hadn't shut down enough CDMA carriers for a second B25 carrier.

No but I have attached a picture taken today.

Reportedly a 2nd B25 carrier was spotted in the lower central valley thread yesterday.

Possible end of month CDMA refarming and 2nd B25 carrier launch? :D

    Would be nice.

  11. Today for the first time I have seen a B25^2 carrier in Hayward, CA. Not sure how many other sites have been upgraded. Even B41^3 is very stable in the area and I hope my next phone will be able to make full use of the network. 2CA feels so 2015 :)

  12. I want to say that I was around Silverado Ranch and Bermuda.

Which CSN campus were you at? I've gotten pretty good service at CSN Henderson and CSN Charleston, not so much at CSN Cheyenne.

I was around CSN Cheyenne. There is a tower very close by but speeds are not really great in the area. Not sure what causes the slower speeds.

I was very disappointed seeing these speeds all last weekend inside casinos and walking the strip.

    Inserts immediate sarcasm*

I have never seen really high speeds in Las Vegas even on 2CA sites. Not sure why but Sprint never made it past 40MB down.
