  1. Slightly larger? You're underestimating the LTE expansion T-Mobile is currently undertaking. "Slightly" is an understatement in 2017.

Roaming agreements don't mean anything nowadays. 100 MB of roaming will dry up quick what we do with our phones today. Native coverage is more important than roaming.

And better voice coverage? No. T-Mobile wins that one. Sprint definitely wins reliability, but not coverage.

Why finance when you can bring your current phone? Or better yet, bring almost any cheap, mid-range, or luxury phone to MetroPCS. If you're with At&t or Verizon, chances are your phone will not work with Sprint but it will with MetroPCS.

There's a reason MetroPCS has seen success ever since they started going after the Sprint brand. People may not get the convenience of HD video or hotspot with MetroPCS. But for the savings and hassle free switching, it's winning a few people over.

If my company wants me to open files while I'm driving down the road in a conference call then they better damn well find someone stupid enough to do it cause I'm not doing that. Otherwise I'm at an airport or motel with WiFi available making the SvLTE a moot point.

  2. 2nd carrier :tu:

That's cool. I think there was a combo of 2nd carrier and stale Clearwire data in theengineering screen. Clearwire data I couldn't access before because I had a note 5 and it was a weak signal. Now with the G6 it seems like there are a few places I'm connecting to where I couldn't before.

  3. Thinking about it now it will be no interesting to see how much hpue helps with signal, the best I get in my house on B41 is around 94dBm, will the S8 get low 80's? Should be interesting considering I hardly ever see B25, my other question is will clearwire sites support hpue? If not probably won't be a change is dBm.

I don't believe you'll see better signal values per se, the towers aren't getting a power boost, it's the devices that are getting higher modulation power to push a clearer signal farther.

  4. I caught this along Bandera Rd near the entrance to OP Schnabel. It's the same earfcn that Rackhivee found on the east side. Y'all are saying this is just an added mini-macro and not a change out to the clearwire antennas? I will say I'm excited either way because I've gotten a Speedtest over 80mbps since these changes have been made. Now if we can get sprint to put antennas or small cells over six flags/la cantera 016ac8f171475699f0548c84dd46369f.jpg

That earfcn is indicative of the 3rd carrier being live. A GCI that puts out Sprint with no band indicator in SCP is likely a small cell or mini macro, based on other reports. Yes, Six Flags needs an upgrade. Last time I was there I could talk or text, but nothing else beyond that.

  5. A lot of those clear sites are becoming obsolete very fast. Hit some with very slow connections in the middle of downtown, it would be very easy to saturate those sites during an event. I don't know if they're able to do 4x2 or if they're only running 2x2. I got used to seeing single carrier clear sites running at 20 mbps in Denver, I'm dumbfounded that the clear sites here with 2 carriers timeout more frequently.

  6. I wasn't aware you could change your server on the speedtest app. I've noticed some good speed increases lately so maybe there's just some new installs or optimizing going on. Will keep a lookout through the week to see if it's persistent

I finally saw the 3rd carrier downtown today. That might be why you're noticing faster speeds. I'll post a screenshot when I'm home.

  7. I recently read that T-Mobile would rather merge with a cable company (like Dish), thus possibly ending any Sprint-T-Mobile merge, I wonder if a merge with Charter Communications/Spectrum/Time Warner would be a better mix. I'm curious of the pros and cons.

On a side note, I always thought a while back that if Sprint were to rename itself, that Spectrum would be a perfect name, butl TWC took it.

Either way, I'm curious, if not T-Mobile, then who would be a good merge fit for Sprint if Masa indeed wants to unload the company or merge it with someone else.

    TS

I think this would be better overall than merging with another wireless company. Spectrum just acquired TWC's cable division so they expanded their footprint, this might help Sprint with backhaul in a pretty good portion of the country, you just have to wonder how willing Spectrum would be to take on Sprint's debt. In return they gain a lot of potential, like being able to provide fixed wireless over B41 airwaves to rural areas where neither of them is yet present. Pure speculation though.

  8. Well, so far in El Paso.. we have only 10 permits requested as of march.. all have been approved only 1 site has new equipment on it. No movement on the other sites... El Paso I believe has roughly around 80 tower sites... if I don't see a huge spike in permit requests in the next month .. I don't see sprint finishing a good percentage of band 41 in El Paso this year .. it will prolly go run over until next year (2018).. with still no band 26 or any small cells in sight here in El Paso anyways

I only see 5 permits from November until February.  Could you send me a list of the permits you're seeing?

  9. What is the reason for Sprint requesting permits for microwave radios at existing sites?  Will they be using this for backhaul to small cells or backhaul to the site?  The address cited in the permit is 11920 IH 10 W.  Couldn't really locate it in Google Maps so I'm not sure if this is a NV complete site, which should have fiber.
