Is this program ( thinking mainly of US Cellular ) affected any at all by the 9,000 site expansion plan? Desperately need some US Cellular coverage..

What thread are you referring to? Is there some action starting in Omaha? It was brought up on another thread, so I'll continue the discussion here:
I almost wonder if the Omaha T-Mobile thing will be dealt with this year. Since T-Mobile has most of their CapEx also going to rural modernization and expansion, maybe they could build more capacity in Omaha to handle the whole metro then let a TPR partner like Wireless Vision come in and market the service.

Viaero Wireless covers rural Nebraska wonderfully with a WCDMA PCS network. One of the best rural networks in the world. And it is a large geographic area, larger than the five smallest states combined.
I love using Viaero when I roam off AT&T. You will have to pardon me if I disagree. And Viaero does not have tens of millions of customers to spread its costs across.
And they have to compete directly with Verizon and USCC. And in some of their areas AT&T. But they win market share by beating out competitors in high quality coverage. Even though VZW and USCC have low frequency spectrum.
It can be done. If you decide to do it, and you do it right.
I can confirm this I got just over 18MB down on a rural HSPA Viaero site not long ago. They have excellent rural coverage.

Can existing band 4 devices make use of this spectrum?

Just seen this on Twitter.
@WaltBTIG: RESULTS FOR @FCC AUCTION OUT

$VZ- $10.4 bil
$DISH - $10.0 bil ($13.3 B gross)
$TMUS - $1.8 bil

I have been watching the new antenna structure applications on the FCC website and Verizon has always had by far the most new applications for new towers then anyone.

If they get a LTE roaming agreement with US Cellular how many more pops would that get them? They still have both Dakotas and Montana to deal with.. Huge areas of land.
-
The VoLTE incompatibility is expected to remain in place for the foreseeable future, because the ecosystem is basically now driven by U.S., Canadian, and Japanese operators, who relish lock-in. Perpetuating the model across Europe and Asia is good for them, because unbranded models are "crippled" against carrier-bloated models.
This is disappointing to me this VoLTE situation. We're finally starting to get rid of the CDMA problem but now the VoLTE thing brings back the "locked in model" again. Are all carriers supporting the same VoLTE standard? What is proprietary with each carrier regarding VoLTE? Is there some kinda apn that is not able to be edited?

Is it possible to see band information on the new iPads?

Current Totals from 5/28/13 - 12/3/14
205 new sites
102 iDEN conversions
37 new DAS sites
0 Clearwire conversions
0 Clearwire B41 only conversions
1 new COW/NASCOW
1 new Pico Cell site
30 deactivations
For a net total of 316 new sites.
Feel free to check my math, but it appears that we have passed the 100 iDEN conversions mark! Hopefully they continue, there are many that would still make great infill sites. Additionally if my memory serves me correctly about a 1000 sites that served areas where iDEN was the only Sprint service offered, maybe we will start to see more of these sites converted as well...
Is it possible to see where those 316 new sites are?

That's odd.. I always have great call quality on AT&T but horrible quality on Verizon, very compressed.

This would help in many markets.
Sure would..No matter how cheap they get I can't switch until they get coverage in the area's I frequent
-
I would switch ASAP from Verizon if they had the US Cell LTE roaming agreement in place...

Is this new roaming coverage going to be available to prepaid?

An interesting tidbit about Commnet. They are doing a huge expansion in Nebraska. They are operating under the name of "Tisdale Nebraska LLC". They just renewed their Nebraska area lease with AT&T 1900 the end of 2013. I've been trying to figure out if the new towers are CDMA or GSM. Also can't figure out why they building out Nebraska because it's covered well with CDMA from VZW and USCC and GSM/HSPA from Viaero Wireless. There's some speculation on Howard Forums that they may be doing this to sell to AT&T.... It makes sense because they building out only in areas with no AT&T network and their doing it under this new LLC.
But maybe it could be for Sprint? Sprint wouldn't really need anybody in Nebraska if they would team up with USCC...

This Cellular One site is right by Interstate 90 in Hardin. It was raining so didn't spend a lot of time outside lol. Going to Billings later might try to get some more pics of sites in town if the weather and family permits

Well I'm heading to Montana right now but I don't have a Sprint phone with me. I find this Cellular One stuff very interesting as I was a subscriber of their's right after they switched over from CDMA to GSM. I know most of their tower locations in the Billings Hardin area

Double post, thanks tapatalk :/

50 LBS? Didn't realize they weighed that much. Then again I always see them on top of the tower so they look smaller then they are. How much do the antennas weigh?

Would a 5mhz band 5 have similar range to 10mhz band 17?
-
I think it's going to largely affect their WCS and CA deployment if anything. It doesn't seem to be impacting their initial deployment of Band 17/4/5 nationwide. I came across my first Band 5 AT&T site this weekend in Kadoka, SD.
Robert
I'll be going through there in a couple weeks definitely have to schedule a fuel stop there. I've never been on band 5
