  1. Desnfiication will be required.

There are many clearwire sites to convert (Davis has far outgrown the Sprint network) and definitely small cells to deploy. Think the city also constructed a DAS network that Sprint hasn't hooked into yet so that's also an option. Coverage is half decent but speeds are nothing to brag about. Just usable which is quite a vast improvement from before so I won't complain about that.

Nice, I'm glad to hear there's room for improvement. Are those clearwire conversions and small cells being deployed as of now, or are they still waiting to start work? Any timeline as to what we can expect around here?

  2. Haven't been here in days (last time i visited, the Warriors weren't even champions). Anyways, I upgraded from a note 2 to a note 5 and the difference as far as data goes is pretty substantial. Living in Davis, my note 2 was more or less unusable during 2013 and only started flirting with 4g in late 2014. Some parts were 4g and rolling, other parts were trash. As of now, it seems like there's LTE everywhere, so that's a great sign. Speeds seem pretty amazing from what they once were. Is sprint done with the Davis area, or is there still more work to do?

  3. At the same place an old phone will have say a - 100 rsrp lte connection whereas a new triband phone like the note 4 will have a - 92 rsrp connection because of new technological advances.

Lte is very signal dependent for speed so it'll translate to a better speed at the same spot due to superior reception.

Hmm okay. So far, at least on my note 2, the LTE is pretty streaky here in Davis. Has there been any work on adding more LTE area or am I gonna have to get a triband phone to survive here?

  4. You'll get access to band 41/26 where available and have a much stronger reception compared to older phones thanks to the single radio setup and more advanced modem.

Bear my ignorance, but by stronger do you mean that I'll be getting LTE in all the places I used to, but faster? Or will I simply be getting more LTE in more places than I do now? Will the 41/26 have good reception indoors?

    Thanks dude!

  5. There is not any expected difference in coverage between the Note 4 and iPhone 6, as the iPhone 6 is Triband and the Note 4 is expected to be. As for the difference in coverage between a Note 2/3 and the Note 4, there will be some coverage differences inside the City of Sacramento.

But the big difference will be with performance inside coverage areas. Band 41 tends to run 10x-70x faster than Band 25 only. There will be many areas where the Note 2/3 would run at 1-3Mbps on Sprint Band 25 LTE, but the Note 4/iPhone 6 could run at 40-70Mbps on Sprint Band 41 LTE in the same spot.

Not to mention that the Note 4/iPhone 6 will have Band 26, which when enabled around Sacto Metro will allow better in building penetration and further coverage from towers. It is far too late in Triband deployment to consider a Uniband device anymore, unless you have no choice.

Got it. Thanks a bunch. Now, will I be seeing these changes right this instant or are they still setting it up?

  6. No. I would not, could not get a Note 2 or 3 in Davis...in Yolo County...in Northern California. If data performance is critical to you, you must get a Triband phone. Band 26 and Band 41 are a necessity in California.

Hmm okay, but how would I see coverage I would get with a note 4 or iPhone 6? Is there a proper coverage map for either one? I'm only asking this cause my contract ends in November and want to know if I would get constant LTE here in Davis.
