  1. A lot of towers in my area have been upgraded to NV. When the upgrades were happening at these towers there was a lot of activity going on. There were Ericsson trucks pulling in and out at different times,120' booms being unloaded, loaded, crews of people sometimes 5 at a time doing their thing. Needless to say,it was pretty exciting. About a month and a half ago this all stopped because all work  that could be done had been completed. My question. When the backhaul is installed, what kind of activity will there be at these towers?

  2. His vague points are meaningless. The New Sprint will have a mildly high debt ratio...whoopdeedoo. Compare the debt burdens of the old Sprint..they used to be in a much worse position related to debt. Also, SoftBank can further capitalize Sprint at any time with more money. Additionally, the New Sprint can start retiring a lot of its outstanding debt with much cheaper debt on the Japanese market.

It's not going to be a cakewalk for the New Sprint. But it's a better position for the future than VZW and ATT. They will be seeing their margins reduced. Sprint has nowhere to go but up from here.

  3. I've been around... assisting where I can and when I can. Sometimes being corrected by the wealth of knowledge here... hehe

I just got off the phone with Ticket support and they said they would completly wipe my subscription and rebuild my network or something like that. She made me turn off my phone, wait 1 minute and turn it back on. She said OK evrything is fine now. I told her that nothing changed on my phone, It just restarted without any reactivation, updates or anything. She said this was normal. My question is, is this the normal procedure for rebuilding your network or line. Also, thanks for the info on service Tender
  4. What are you talking about? First off, don't respond to me as if I know all your past posts and follow your personal history. Because I don't. We have thousands of members. I cannot follow you guys to that level.

Second, I personally am sorry to hear you are having problems. But we are not Sprint. So please have reasonable expectations from us. We have a lot of knowledge here between us and can often help you. But sometimes we cannot, or don't have the answer you want.

Third, there is no secret here, or anywhere for that matter that Sprint's legacy network has major problems. It is discussed throughout our site.

Last, I don't much appreciate your tone. Admit what? What do you want me to admit? I'm not hiding anything from you. I'm being honest with you. I do not have problems with my GS3 anything like you have. And I can tell you the dozens of people I know with the GS3 have never complained of issues like that either. That's a fact.

I never dismissed your complaints or said what you are experiencing isn't real. I just wanted to make the point that I don't think it is a widespread GS3 issue. It is either your specific device or something else. And that is a valid point and not indicative that I won't admit something.

I understand your frustration. However, we are not Sprint nor Samsung and we are in no way responsible for your problem.

  5. I wish it was but unfortunately it is not. I have posted here several times about my device issues, about sending it back to Samsung only to be told the device is fine but noted "No PCS Service", about going to a Sprint service center where they replaced my device and I am still having these issues, even with full bars. Please lets get 1 thing straight about Sprint. For the past 2 months in my areas of California which are not yet seeing the NV rollout, for whatever reason, their network has become very unstable and unreliable. Sprint won't admit it and it seems just because you have no issues with your device, you won't admit or should I say permit the possibility of their network not being a viable service.

did'nt mean sound like a a hole. My apologies

  6. I have not had issues like that with my galaxy s3 ever. It could be related to your specific device.

  7. I just got of the phone with tech support because of my issues with my S3 not recieving 50% of my calls and was informed that they checked my specific number with software they use and was told I only had one dropped call in 3 months. This I argued till I was blue in the face was false because I have missed and dropped at least 60 calls in the last 2 months. It was a pointless argument because I have no report or log of my missed and dropped calls etc. on my part. This leads me to believe that their software has not been upgraded or does not recognize the Samsung S3's bandwidth. Could I be right?

  8. When your friend called your phone did it ring on his end the normal amount of rings 40 seconds for CDMA or did it go straight to voicemail? Are you using a custom ringtone or preload (out the box) tone?

I see you have a stock sg3, is it rooted? Software up to date? Any app like task killer memory managers? Have this phone been factory reset and used in the areas you have issues in without restoring your back up ( test with a clean device)?

His phone rang about 6 times then went to voicemail. No custom ringtone. This was after a factory reset.
  9. Thanks for the clarification. I missed that. However, in our 9 device testing, the GS3 was right up there with the best radio performers. Including the Motorola Photon.

I guess I am the only one in an area with the population of 212,013 who owns an S3 that is having this problem. My associate and I both use Sprint for our PCS service. Standing right next to him I can have him call me but my phone just stares at me with a blank screen. I then call him, no problem, I can make calls 100% of the time, and his EVO 4G lte lights up after 3 rings. This after Samsung has declared my phone to be 100% functional. I don't know what else to do. I think I'm gonna be sick. It's friday night. I'm gettin hammered. This sucks.
  10. I am having problems recieving calls on my S3 in areas I never had problems at with my HTC EVO. I sent my S3 back to Samsung hoping there was something wrong with it but it passed all functionality testing. In other words, there's nothing wrong with it. They also stated: Problem Solved, No PCS SERVICE. While my phone was being "repaired" I broke out my EVO and had recieved 100% of calls in the same areas that my S3 would not recieve them. I know I sound like a freakin broken record but whats the real truth?

  11. My issue is I recieve calls only 50% of the time. I can call my phone sitting on my desk from the office phone and it will just ring and then go to voicemail while my phone on the desk just sits there and does not ring. Sprint gave me some BS about overburdened towers etc. I told them really, at 5:00 AM there are overburdened towers at five different locations around San Bernardino County? BS. They gave me a $75 credit for the issue I have been having for the past 3 weeks. Go ahead and call them to get your credit. Today I will send my S3 back to Samsung for a replacement. This will at least let me know if this is a Hardware or Network issue. What do you think?

Here's an update. I jjust recieved a tracking # from Samsung for my phone I sent in for repair because of not recieving calls randomly. Here is what they reported: Passed all functionality testing. Problem Found,No PCS Service. I was so hoping there was something wrong with the phone. Now I have to go back and play Sprint's customer service game again Sheeesh.
  12. LTE sites in the San Bernardino/Riverside market aren't scheduled to start going live until January at the earliest. However, according to network.sprint.com, both towers close to those cross streets are due for data capacity upgrades in the next 6 months. It could just be overburdened cell sites, like I experienced 2 days ago in Tulare, CA where everytime I tried to make a call, all I got was a fast busy.

  13. Could you post some screenshots of that? I haven't seen such a thing here or in other forums, but I have seen several examples of wildly inaccurate "tower" plots by Open Signal Maps. The developers even warn about errors on their own Google Play page:

So there may be such a unicorn as an accurate Open Signal Maps plot of Sprint towers. I just haven't seen one.

And if you do post a screenshot, could you explain how you confirmed that these "tower" sites were correct?

Using apps that track the broadcast CDMA coordinates, I have always been able to discern which tower I was connected to and where it is, even if it takes some work in the case of the many towers near me that squawk offset coordinates. But for this exercise I also have an asset you probably don't have, since I notice that you are not an S4GRU sponsor. I am, so I have the Rosetta Stone -- Robert's authoritative maps of where the Sprint towers actually are.

boomer, I'm sorry the app does'nt work for you, it does for me where I live. There are 2 3G Sprint towers towers in the exact location that Open Signal Map identifies. 1 is 3 houses from my house on the corner of 30th & Mt. View and the other is on Electric Ave and Pershing in San bernardino Ca. I also know because when I call Sprint to report dropped flippin calls, they always tell me those 2 towers are being serviced and blah blah blah. And whats the deall with being a sponser and having access to those top secret maps! Why not open them up to everyone.
  14. Understand first that there is no app known around here that will map LTE towers directly. Some apps purport to do so, but they are misleading.

There are some apps that will map CDMA sectors, each with its own BSID (Base Station ID) from the coordinates broadcast by the tower transmitters. Sometimes those coordinates are the actual tower sites. But sometimes [sponsor-only link] each sector on a given tower squawks coordinates that are offset some distance away (maybe even miles). We don't know why that is. But since you as a S4GRU sponsor have available to you maps of actual Sprint towers, you can usually tell be trial and error which case is which: Either the coordinates are exactly at a tower site, or they are grouped in a triangle pattern around it, with BSID values that are sequential.

As for which app to use for that purpose, I don't like Netmonitor because I don't trust its permissions for privacy reasons. I prefer CDMA Field Test, which will only map a single BSID at a time. But is does support capturing all the IDs and coordinates in a log, which is exported as a KML map file or as a flat file you can use to build maps yourself.

One of the worst apps for "tower" mapping is Open Signal Maps, which really just computes a guess about tower locations by trying to triangulate crowd-sourced signal-strength data. This method can be wildly inaccurate. I have never seen it pinpoint a real tower.

Thats not true what you say about Open Signal Maps. It is not "one of the worst", it is actuall one of the best. It pinpoints 6 tower locations in my area to the exact location.
