  1. Yes. I signed up 2 weeks ago, and the Sprint site says I'm upgrade eligible as of 9/1, so I can preorder, or walk in and get it. You're upgrade eligible on iPhone forever every time there's a new model. Say you get the 6S in 2 weeks, and apple decides to drop the 7 in March. You'll be eligible for it.

Perfect. I just didn't want to sign up, and then go to preorder but I'm not upgrade eligible until the new model is "officially available" after official launch day. Thanks for clarifying!

I was thinking about doing this. Does anyone know if you can preorder the new model when it comes out if I get on the iPhone forever now?

  3. Best Buy did a promo like that sometime last fall, I don't remember much about it but I remember the "free service from Sprint for a year" plan.

  4. Hey everyone! Some updates since I was last on here, as you all know I am attending NM Tech this semester, so moving to Socorro happened to be so much easier now Sprint has LTE. Actually, this past Friday they were adding b26, making the entire network unstable and unusable throughout orientation/move-in weekend (which completely sucked). I still get no service through several buildings and my dorm, but frankly I don't think any network could get past these walls.

I traveled to El Paso with my father on business, and it made me so happy to be back on the freeway home, as it was torture down there having no service indoors, all of Sprint's low band issues down there can't be solved any faster. I have been to a bad market for Sprint, but this was on another level.

Also, I will be doing several internships and CoOps throughout rural NM, so I'm going to have to start a line with Verizon, because Sprint's roaming hard cap isn't going to work with me being gone weeks at a time. My parents are keeping this line open for me, so when I return to Socorro or ABQ or wherever I can still use our network. I'll still be on here, since Verizon has LTE almost everywhere, and they don't limit roaming, no excuses to not keep with S4GRU! Wish me luck!

  5. I'm not so worried about the site malfunctioning, but more so my timing. I don't want to be too late, and end up in that dreaded "ships mid-October" group, or worse. I want to get in the first shipment group for once.

I've preordered through Sprint, and always had gotten my iPhones with the first group, whereas Apple had the expected ship dates far later then with Sprint, lucky me! Also, never had any issues.

  6. That area is a mess, phone always goes crazy with flipping signal. Sometimes my phone will beep on signal check pro like 25 times before latches on.

I thought that 3G tower that was accepted a few weeks ago would help the problem at Los Poblanos(where I am at a lot), but honestly I haven't seen a difference. But it's just that area! Ugh.

  7. I sort of want to agree with you, but I was in OAK today for new hire stuff and only for a few hours, but when I was there calls were bad and I mean bad - dropped calls, static noise, and even muffled noise. (Was on 3G, B25, B26 and B41 in a high volume area) I wanted to come back to ABQ! <= Never thought I would say that. Would be nice if they would hurry the heck up and finish the left over sites, but I can at least wait little bit more now.

Yeah overall, ABQ is pretty good. Calls are amazing, and even SMS and MMS is perfect. Even in group MMS with other carriers, I have never had a problem with delayed or missing messages. Also what is nice, is the tower spacing is generally the same across the city, and I almost always have LTE in non GMO areas. (With the exception of Rio Grande between Montano and Paseo, it's never pretty over there)

  8. Crap, does living against the mountain suck sometimes! During this time of day where I live 3G and LTE struggle. Like 3G is below 0.02Mbps. Then again Sprint's call quality is still so amazing. I feel the one carrier of B25, B26, and the 3G we have really isn't enough in some parts of ABQ. I hope some of those new sites or small cells come to Albuquerque. We're late for everything.

  9. Yesterday, 6/1/2015, CABQ approved a permit for the tower that is already NV complete and is broadcasting B25 and B26.

Interesting the value is for $10K. I wonder if they will be replacing the panels for tri-band. The contractor is MASTEC NETWORK SOLUTIONS LLC. Permit #201590702.

I was driving by this site a few minutes ago, and there is a couple of people there. The fence was open and they had a tarp covering all of the cabinets and they were all eating lunch. I didn't have time to stop other then to drive by, but it was the MasTec engineering truck, with a trailer that had tons of equipment in it. I'll try to stop by again, but I might not be able to today. Good news hopefully!

  10. Dropped my phone in water today. Fully submerged. Put it in a bag of brown rice and put in the sun for a half hour. Hopefully it'll be ok. I don't have the $79 to replace it right now.

  11. Jut got back from a day trip throughout northern NM with my friend on T-Mobile. I am really impressed with T-Mobile there. Consistently there was 4G and Edge in places like Mora, parts of Angel Fire, and even LTE all over Taos. Everywhere else, (between towns), they had roaming on Comnet 3G. Sprint had Extended 1x the entire time. Speeds were okay for him while roaming, (3-1mbps), whereas 50% unusable for me. It is a little better for me, since when I did have data, my roaming limit is 300MB and T-Mobile is 100MB. Just what we experienced. We both have iPhone 6's, so T-Mobile's b12 didn't apply here, even though I don't think they have any deployed here. There are so many old Nextel sites in the area, hopefully in the future Sprint will take advantage of those spaces.

  12. Has anyone downgraded from 9 to 8.4? I restored last night, deleted that public beta profile, and I have a stuck notification badge over settings saying "iOS 9 is available." It's annoying, and I have no idea how to get rid of it. Google was no help.

I downgraded, but had no problems. Did you set up as a new iPhone? I restored to my previous iOS 8.4 backup.

  13. I think one needs at least a triband device too in order to get 800. I don't know if an iPhone 5S meets that criteria or not. Your location says you're in Seattle which is within the Canadian IBEZ too. I also reside in an IBEZ affected market and 800 of any flavor has only been found at sites at the southeastern fringes of my market which is Cleveland. It was briefly turned on at 800 accepted sites inside the IBEZ zone here, but hasn't been found since in over a year. :(

He said he is in Atlanta currently, and also yes, the iPhone 5S is B26 compatible.

Looks like a tower I'm going to start really paying attention to!

  15. It sure would. Just be careful in the border area manzer. I know Tamaulipas/Nuevo Leon got pretty hot last month with Cartel activity blocking most of the major Mexican highways near the border. I know Juarez and the area around New Mexico has quited down, but it's still pretty bad.

After further reading, I haven't found anything that says that the roaming is exclusive to only Telefonica. As far as I can tell from the official Sprint statement, all indications are that ALL 2G roaming and SMS is unlimited. I'm assuming that Sprint will just make Movistar their prefered roaming partner and Telcel/Iusacell will fall in afterwards in areas Movistar isn't available. Only way to find out is for one of us to travel abroad, reach a Telefonica/Softbank dead zone and start texting and using data. T&P to the brave hampster willing to test this out.

Yes. Thank you for the notice. Being grown up around here, partially speaking Mexican Spanish, and traveling there I've learned where some safer places and towns are. But if/when I can test it, safe will definitely be the way to go!

  16. I can't wait to hear when people actually start to take advantage of the International Value Roaming data feature. I am curious about the process of such as things below to confirm that you are under the International Value Roaming data feature and not some of Sprint's more expensive international plans.

    1. Do you need to setup your Sprint phone before hand in order to use the 2G data?

    2. Will you receive some sort of text message from Sprint confirming you are under the International Value Roaming plan. (I know that with Tmobile my friend says he gets a text message that confirms that you get free international roaming data.)

I live in Albuquerque, so this may require a weekend trip to Mexico! Nice to know I won't really have to pay extra for my phone with this plan and Wifi Calling!
