  1. So we're back to you telling me I'm a Sprint employee for the sole reason that I don't sit here and bash them? And I don't even live in a Sprint corporate market? Doesn't seem a bit odd to you? Of course not, you just told me who my employer is!

    '

Isn't it funny!!! Bashing them? Do you mean in a neutral manner and completely unbiased?

No one is bashing them. Quite funny when someone lives in Harrisburg and claims to be in Philly and do not even know about the status of Philly;s 3G. Odd isn't it.

  2. I was feeling rebel rouser-ish earlier and wanted to post that clearly now this thread is filled with Sprint employees. Turns out when I see upgraded NV antenna's all over the Philly market, it WAS a good sign that much progress was being made!

To be quite honest, you are a Sprint employee and S$GRU knew it.

I knew about these sites last week and the signals were turn on for many of these site on Sunday.

They are note quite to 4G speed yet, because the SouthWest and South Philadelphia 4G towers give below 1 MB down.

  3. Where is HappyHappy? He was so pessimistic about the rollout, I would love to hear from him.

To be honest, I was never pessimistic, I was simply telling what I was and gave my thoughts. I hypothesized it will take at least couple months to half a year on early January. It has since been two month.

Like I have said, I was with Sprint, if you do not like it. Just get that hell out.

This site is infiltated with lots of Sprint employees as far as I know, and like I said before it is marketing strategy.

  4. You didn't get me. I don't know if he is a Sprint employee or not. I wasn't saying that. And I doubt that he is. He spends a lot of his time in Shentel areas, not likely for a Sprint employee.

My point is that we don't treat known or perceived Sprint employees any differently. However, your aggressive and argumentative style is really starting to bother me. Your communication style is not very productive in a community like S4GRU. You either need to adapt, or find a new place to hang out.

Not sure where you are getting the idea that I am aggressive and all. Seems like whenever someone has a problem you would simply say this or telling them to leave the site because it is your site.

I have been reading a few of your own posts to S4GRU members, seems like you are a little more aggressive than I am.

  5. But if you violate the unlimited data Ts and Cs in your contract by tethering, running continuous speed tests, etc., you must now commit yubitsume -- the cutting off of your own little finger -- to atone for your dishonor.

You will get banned by Sprint wouldn't you by tethering?

I think a little tethering is fine but if you tether 24/7 and watch videos using the tethering function, frankly, what that hell.

  6. I've always been curious if this is tied to the heavy adoption of the MVNOs (MetroPCS, Virgin, Boost, Cricket) in the area. They piggyback on Sprint's network so it seems like that's potentially where the unanticipated volume comes from. I'm actually hoping that with SoftBank's big investment in Sprint (assuming it's approved) they won't have to over-leverage their network to bolster cash-flow. And I'm really hoping they don't lease out their LTE network the way they did 3G.

Boost and Virgin belongs to Sprint if I remember correctly. Virgin and Boost pretty much use Sprint's 3G network like all of us.

Sprint may have leased their network to MetroPCS and Cricket.

This definitely is one problem and could have caused extra volumes.

I also think that there are too few towers within a neighborhood, so tower cannot take extra traffics due to the fact that there is a huge population growth in Philly within the past few years (immigrants and others). I think there is usually 2-4 per neighborhood, with the exception in Center City and certain districts within the city (they get like 15 or more.

I think they are aware of this now and hopefully they get more towers within a neighborhood to better handle the extra network traffic.

  7. Pretty much everyone in the philly metro area has extremely slow speeds...heck more than not i cant download only upload and get network error on my screen. I have learned to deal with it i understand it takes time to fix issues and if doing without for a few months then thats what i have to do. Sprint i understand knows people are frustrated.....one things for sure unlimted 4g (when it goes live) is a much better deal than verizon, at&t, and tmobile throttle plans!!! I can hold off!!

So many people in Philly so the network cannot handle the usages. Sprint is actually adding more sites in Philly so it can handle the need of mobile data.

  8. To be fair, Boosted, you're sitting in Harrisburg BATHED in LTE while we're struggling to get 0.1Mbit speeds here in Philly. It is seriously not fun.

    Hey Steve and everyone else,

If you are experiencing terrible speeds please address these issues to Sprint's Customer Care as well. A lot of people twit or post on blogs saying how terrible the speed is but the customer care would not know until everyone starts complaining to them through the phone.

The most effective way is to call Sprint and say your concerns to them.

    Thanks.

P.S. I mean nothing negative. I simply am stating truth on every post. Honestly, we cannot bath in obvious lies so either accept it or move on.

  9. I called in August about a tower by my house in the Art Museum Area and they said there was an existing ticket from July with an estimated resolution of October 19.

It is typically true. Sprint do not address issues fast enough. There are tickets all over Philly and they do their least to satisfy customers in one of the biggest metropolitan city in the country.

You know, I guess people do what is best for them. Cheap Sprint unlimited data or go for costly AT&T and Verizon.

I bet it will take them another 4 months to get LTE ready.

  10. Sprint started putting 800CDMA voice in phones well over a year before it started showing up, and LTE 1900 phones were released over 3 months before the first LTE enabled tower was lit up for public use, so LTE 800 devices could potentially be released in the coming months.

I still think it would not happen at least for another year.

  11. I'm betting I'll have to wait for the Note III in October before I can get a phone with 800MHz LTE. This Galaxy S 4 is coming out too quickly after the HTC One to support it and the Motorola X will be too Google Vanilla to have it (ala T-Mobile Nexus S not having HSPA+).

I hope Samsung proves me wrong!

I think they will not put 800 capability into phones yet. Sprint has no 800 LTE, so it will probably be another year or two.
