  1. First off,  :welcome:  There is a lot of good people here with a lot of knowledge providing a lot info ALL for nonprofit.

(*hint *hint *donate* hint* hint*) -get access to more forum sections with additional info and progress of Network Vision and coverage maps.

To activate on Sprint you will need a Sprint sim and call/chat/in-store to get the phone active similar to Verizon. On T-Mobile all you have to do is pop in your active T-Mobile sim and you should be good to go.

thanks and will donate when I can

all my $ went into this N5 actually, I am going thru a divorce so funds are almost non existent

  2. What's interesting is that when active Verizon SIM is inserted in Nexus 5, you can only toggle LTE Only, and 3GPP technologies. It will not allow toggling 3GPP2 at all. But then again, I'm not successfully attaching to Verizon which could explain this behavior carrying over previous (T-Mobile) settings.

It's extremely frustrating not to be able to utilize this great Cat 4 UE on Verizon's 20Mhz B4 that's active here.

wait, what ?! I thought Verizon wouldn't work on this phone at all.....

holy carp, my brain is mush from all the searching and reading and now even more ? yikes

  3. I am glad to have found this thread/website. A LOT of good info and peoples here  :tu:

I received my shipping email from Sprint at 1:10am 'today' for my Black 16g N5 ordered on Nov. 3

It shows as UPS 2nd Day Air® and had a Scheduled Delivery: Monday, 11/11/2013, By End of Day at 6am this morning when I checked again

Now it shows Scheduled Delivery: Friday, 11/08/2013, By End of Day !!

    w00t!!

Nothing like being able to play with a new phone over the weekend.

I will be comparing it to my Droid Razr Maxx HD on Verizon LTE

I happen to live in an area where both Verizon and Sprint show a low to medium, 2 to 3 bar coverage for LTE

I will be deciding on many factors on which phone and service to keep

The Maxx has done very well for me in all areas except screen size is a tad small and tapping and touching is hit or miss sometimes

Call quality, speed, build, wifi, 4g, camera, 32gig on board and 64gig sdcard, and of course battery life are all amazing.

BUT the desire to have a much 'nicer' phone, bigger screen and whatnot just may negate the 'shortcomings' of the same: 16gig on board, no sdcard, charging once a day vs every 4 or 5 days, paying Verizon $40 a month for service on our family plan, or switching myself to sprint for $90 a month. In some ways it seems like a no brainer but it is actually going to be a tough decision :-/

btw.....does anyone know if I can slap a Tmobile sim in at anytime and it will just work ? 4g too ?

or do settings need to be tweaked ?

and do I need to activate the phone thru sprint first or will a Tmo sim work right outta the box ?

    Thanks in advance

  4. omfgggggg

  5. Not sure if it is 1 or 2 but it is full integration. I only have 1 number, my sprint number is my google voice number.

I no longer use the google voice app, hangouts for SMS & MMS and have the voicemail integrated into the stock dialer.

I still use the gvoice app to text from my tablets/computer though and no MMS there obviously.

    sweet, looking forward to this

  6. was there a case on your one? I know for my s4 the signal would drop when I had a case on it, noticeable enough for me to risk not using a case

yeppers, apparently a sammy thing, happened when I had a case on my GS2 and 3 ! My callers would say I was muffled and very choppy, take case off and voila, perfect connection. Was a bummer as they were very nice cases too.....$$ *flush

  7. So I had a full day to use my new nexus 5 and I am loving it so far.  Using this and my One side by side, I would say that battery life is about the same on both devices.  This device is so snappy its unreal but honestly when I go back to the One it feels just as snappy to me so maybe all this talk about high end specs can finally be put to rest.

As far as camera, honestly I think the One owns the nexus 5 in every conceivable category, in my opinion its not even close.  I probably took 200 pics/videos today using both devices and to me the One just beats it.  Speakers are great for what they are but this is something else that the One is far better at as well.  I also think that the One still has the best screen thats out right now.

As for 4.4 kitkat, I love the google integration, it makes everything so simple and easy to use and easy to get to but what most important to me though is rf performance.  Now when it comes to 1x/3g/lte it straight up kills my One.  The rf differences between both devices on 1x/3g aren't that significant to complain about but the difference between lte is ridiculous.  My nexus was easily averaging 10 to 15dbm's better than my One in every situation I could put both devices in, it was shocking to see in all honesty and to be quite frank I am totally impressed.  The rf performance alone is worth the $350 price tag.

thank you for the great mini-review, means a lot

  8. Hi, I ordered a new Nexus 5 with new service through sprint.com on Sunday, November 3rd.

The website said they will do their best to have it delivered by Friday November 8th, the launch date btw.

So I am curious if anyone has received their's yet ?

If so how long did it take ?

    Shipping carrier ?

If NOT do you have a tracking number yet ?

When you do get yours please comment here to update myself and others.

I am getting pretty anxious to play with this screaming little beauty !

I got on chat today with a sprint rep, and they said it could ship without a tracking number and should be here on Friday or earlier.

Hard to believe with all the hoopla over this phone lol.

    Thanks
