I was thinking this while I was at home depot this morning. So its possible for a device to get an lte signal from one tower but voice on another at the same time?
And be using both signals. Meaning I'm on a call and refreshing Twitter at the same time

Thats good info thanks. I actually visted one of the sites a mile from my job that is due to be a NV upgrade. Its only a mile away but lord know based on my covereage at my job I have never connected there. Do you know any other Apps like Opensignal that I can use to compare?

Does anyone know why a phone chooses one tower over another?

Hey are you LTE recipients seeing better coverage inside buildings than you did with WiMax?

I have a question. I see people throwing around 800MHZ and 1900MHZ in comparison to 700MHZ. Can someone explain to me what this means as far reception inside buildings? I have always been sort of jealous of my Verizon using friends because it seems like they and T-Mobile customers I know have great reception indoors at my job but I sit looking at my icon grayed out most of the day unless I'm in a exact location in my building. I wish I could tell Sprint they need a tower over here..

I agree seems to be a waste in most cases. Here's my follow up though. Does anyone think at some point we will see carriers start to tier speeds with gauranteed throughputs. 3-7Mbps -$20.00 a month unlimited, 8-10Mbps $30.00 a month unlimited.

Hey guys new around and i just want to toss something out there. I was talking to myself the other day (Yes, I do this quite a bit because no one I know cares about phones or networks) and was thinking what would I be happy with for speed with my network. That led me to what do I actually need for my speed to be to actually do the things I do. I know Verizon and AT&T are throwing around average speeds of about 14-17Mbps and maybe thats what we will get with Sprint but is it what we need? Just based on what I do which is downloading apps, watching some YouTube, and streaming music and internet radio what else are people doing that requires them to need 15Mbps and is what you need it for reasonable for a mobile network to handle?

Does anyone actually talk on the phone?

Goff Communications. I don't have that type of vision to see that on the trucks but I used to work for them when I first moved to Florida. I can tell you that I hung a buch of Nextel panels and ran tons of coax back in 1994. It would make sense for them to be involved. I can tell you guys too that if you see tower guys working don't be afraid to walk up and say hi. Maybe with a few Gatorades and ask some questions. Most of them are not hardcore phone geeks but they love job they do and love talking about it. You could get some real good info that way.
