  1. It seems that the mediocre deals are all Sprint's offering.  Has anybody seen anything other than the 2 phones they advertised a week ago?

I chatted online trying to get a match for either the free S4 based on the bestbuy / amazon deals or an iphone 5s deal.  No go, just the usual SERO 2nd class citizen thing (and honestly, at $50/mo it's not like they're going broke on SERO)

Nope, I think I'm going to order the G2 Sunday night, and cancel/change if anything else pops up on Monday. I think I'll be happy with the G2, but if I'm not, I can always sell it for $400 on Swappa and pick up something else.

  2. so for us upgrade customers its only the s4 mini and g2? debating on waiting to see if any other sales come up or just order a case for the g2. upgrading my brothers line for him, hes coming from an evo shift.

I think there will be more, because they have a vanity page for thanksgiving, black friday, & cyber monday, and they each have their own individual countdown.

  3. There's a very good chance.  Remember, these aren't, "Black Friday" deals per se - they were announced in a press release a week in advance and extend well past Friday.  These are the usual, "Why wait until Black Friday when you can save NOW" junk deals may retailers are running ("Black Friday Presale", "Mid-Black November Clearance", etc.).  The Black Friday deals will appear on the Sprint website on Black Friday.

Last year Radio Shack had the Galaxy S 3 for $49.99 w/2-yr contract which is the same deal Sprint had.  Expect similar deals this year across the board to clear out the phones that aren't Spark capable.  If Sprint follows Radio Shack's lead, keeps their $50 price tiers and prices phones to maintain their relative positions (ie.  an S4 will have to sell for more than an S3 but less than a Note 2) BF on Sprint.com should look something like this:

    Galaxy S 3 $0 w/2-yr contract (Sprint's current deal for new customers)

    Galaxy S 4 $49 w/2-yr contract (Radio Shack's BF deal)

Galaxy Note 2 $99 w/2-yr contract (Radio Shack's BF deal)

    Galaxy Note 3 $149 w/2-yr contract

HTC One $99 w/2-yr contract (Sprint's current deal for new customers)

Moto X $0 w/2-yr contract (Sprint's current deal for new customers)

Can I ask what you're basing these prices off of? Is it simply due to Radio Shack selling the S3 for the same price as Sprint last year or do you have some kind of insider info?

All carriers tolerate their legacy plan customers with various levels of disdain.  Be thankful we haven't reached Verizon's, "You can keep unlimited data until you upgrade your phone" level.  Sprint has recently (last week or so) fixed their web store so that SERO customers can order phones without having change their plans so that's something.

I'm not sure what you're basing this on, but my whole family is on Sero and we've been able to upgrade via the website for at least a year. My sister ordered an S4 over the summer via the website, and I did the same thing in early October for a Note 3 (later returned). When you begin the upgrade, it does say you'll need to change your plan, but as soon as you hit continue and get to the next page, it says "Good news, no need to upgrade your plan" and you can check out without changing anything. It's been like this quite some time and you not being aware of this makes me question the pricing you mentioned above or at least assume that it's nothing more than speculation.

    PS - I hope you're right lol

  4. Getting my Nexus 5 tomorrow morning. Hopefully it'll come before my class then I can confirm whether or not it's possible to connect to band 41 as of tomorrow.

You guys said to activate via swap online? What about the sim card? I have the 3FF one but I haven't even opened it. Does it need to be activated? Looking to avoid the $36 fee.

Assuming you got it from the Play Store, there will not be a $36 fee, because that's for upgrades, not activations. I would use chat and swap it that way. They'll ask for the ESN and SIM card number and it shouldn't take more than a few minutes. My only suggestion is to have the Nexus 5 powered on, and when the Sprint person tells you to turn on the phone, this is when you insert the SIM and it will then prompt to reboot :)

  5. So this is probably a noob question and I'm just not looking enough but... Is the Nexus 5 you'd get from Sprint a special version with the Spark LTE bands, or could I buy one unlocked from Google Play and put a Sprint sim in it and it work the same?

    They're exactly the same.

  6. You are speculating just like me. Backwards thinking? Really?

All I'm saying is sprint might have a glut. Might not. I supported my speculation with an article at least.

The triband phone might come out next month. might not.

Sprint wouldn't surprise me either way.

I want this phone to come out just as bad as anyone.

I'm just trying to temper expectations.

Agreed, but if your speculating was correct, then I'd have to believe we'd have never seen a SPH-L720T pass through the FCC. That being said, I think we'll see the SPH-L720T sooner than later.

  7. They may not be stocking up. They may have been stuck with this stock for awhile. Slow sales were reported early on.

So maybe they've been stuck stock for awhile.

And who knows. Maybe they might make the s4 spark available in the spark markets only at first. Seamlessly sneak it in with the old stock.

The article is from June, which is months before SPH-L720T passed through the FCC.

  8. So he's just blindly accepting information without any sense of where the info is coming from? Also, didn't know how his own watermark got on the screenshot? I'm very doubtful of that.

Some shoddy journalism one way or the other. This has really struck a nerve with me because so many on this forum volunteer their knowledge and time and ask nothing in return. The least that can be done is credit them when appropriate.

Yeah I don't disagree with you. The watermark was removed and now it says via lilg740s4gru with a link to the site's main page.

I emailed them. They said it was a "misunderstanding."

    Thanks, but yeah hmmm misunderstanding

  9. Whoa that is not cool at all. Someone should start a new thread so this bounces to the main page. This needs attention and is not acceptable at all.

I just brought it up on their Google+ page and he replied with this.

"that's being fixed. I didn't know the watermark was there, and I also didn't know it was from S4GRU. It was sent to me separately."

Edit - Looks like they fixed it :)

  10. So you have to buy a phone at full price aka $100 more than Sprint retail no contract price? I guess the Nexus 5 would be the only exception to this price wise.

Edit - What I meant was that the Nexus 5 would be the only decent deal. Pay $100 more than MSRP and get a free year of service.

  11. Do you have any issues with other towers/areas with connecting to LTE? The strange thing is that I can connect to LTE at home and multiple other towers while driving around. It's only the one by my work which is where I have always used it the most with my Note 2

Exactly the same as you! I can see LTE connect elsewhere while drving around, but LTE from the towers near my home & work will not work unless I force LTE. The two towers near me, which are giving me these problems, are around Curry Ford & Goldenrod and Curry Ford & Semoron.
