  1. If you're talking Eagle River I was there in January and was on 1x the entire time. You would think with as many people that go there and to Rhinelander (by hodag grounds and the scout camps easily 20k+ people in a summer that could all be serviced by a single tower location [granted high capacity]) they would have all their own LTE towers but noooo... Extended 1x.

  2.

How is the Iphone 5S doing around town?   My friend is thinking about jumping from AT&T.  I ask this because my friends with a 5S a few months ago was not able to pick up 4G with their 5S while I was picking up 4G with my LG G2.

I have a 5S and I am never on 3g except for a few areas where the towers aren't complete. I have LTE everywhere else and pull 20+ megs down and 8+ up. I have never had no service (even in basements that I never thought there would be any chance of service I had service).

    EDIT: Added the quote.

  3. Samsung will be done with their Network Vision conversions then. So every site will have Network Vision equipment installed, including LTE equipment. Band 25 LTE fire ups will occur on all Samsung sites that have had their backhaul upgraded.

There will still be Samsung sites that do not have LTE after March though. They will go live one by one as backhaul is ready and integration crews get back to the site. Band 26 LTE integration crews come around behind Band 25 integration crews. We are already seeing Band 26 fire ups in Minnesota and the North Wisconsin market.

    Thanks Robert!

And... Band 25 is 1900 and Band 26 is 800? And then the 2600 is Band...41 if I remember?

  4. Almost. As I understand it:

CDMA800 is 1x800SMR so that was 17 updates. Then the 3 LTE updates......the remaining that are unaccounted for 33-17-3=13 are 3G updated at 1900PCS band. There is no "800Mhz 3G", just 1x data/voice and LTE, but no one has 800LTE broadcasting yet, there are a few acceptances in Chicago area for 800LTE. And you are right, it would say 800LTE or something specific for it.

So then whats the difference between 1x800 and 1x800SMR? Are they the same thing or is there an actual difference?

    Thanks!

  5. I'm new here but honestly, it feel like Sprint just keeps tickling peoples nuts about going live in the Milwaukee area. I have to work downtown Milwaukee on occassion and I swear there is a force field down there that prevents me from getting over 1 or 2 bars regardless of tower locale and LoS. Sprint just plain sucks there no?

When 800MHz comes your problems will be solved (a gain of normally 2+ bars) [i went from no service to 4 bars when my tower got 800].

  6. I am a new customer (as of the 26th) in Baraboo.  I have been roaming the streets with Sensorly, trying to fill out the map.  Unfortunately, the 4G LTE coverage in Baraboo isn't all that great for a launched market.  There really are only two places in town where you can pull in 4G, downtown and on the outskirts of town by Hwy 12 and Cty. Hwy W.

I will take a ride out to Devil's Head sometime soon and try to remember to provide an answer for you.  I certainly wouldn't expect 4G out there, but it does seem as though the native voice network is pretty decent around here.

Give me a few days and I'll post some signal information and speed tests at the resort.

Just hang in there. Once 800 MHz LTE is launched (should be by Jan/Feb I think I read for Samsung completion) coverage will drastically improve. In my new house I used to have no service and had to get an Airave, but now that 1x800 has been launched I have 4 bars. LTE will be much the same when 800MHz goes live.

  7. Interesting, does 3g complete have anything to do with NV antenna finished also? Or is it possible to get that with just the lower part done.  I am quite certain the High Power line tower in Big Bend/Vernon has no NV antenna on top of the tower.  Maybe they snuck them in on me.. have not been past that in a week or two.. The strange thing is the 2nd last time I was out there the Samsung Programmer was parked under the tower. I thought that weird since there was no NV antenna up top.... Any help here?

This was covered like two pages ago. Some low density towers, such as this one can be 3g complete by only upgrading the ground equipment. I believe they call it GMO (Ground Mount Option)? In this case, they can be 3g complete, and the remainder of the upgrades (1x800, 3g 800, and LTE 1900 and 800) will come at a later time.

  8. I'm looking for some clarification on what's actually happening in downtown Madison. For nearly a year I have had reliable and fast 3G a at Broom and Washington. I was happy with everything until the 6th. On the 6th of November I have not had working data. I had elevated my hopes when I noticed the 4G icon on my phone a couple times, but I am sure I just picked up a weak signal from somewhere else. Does anyone know what the funk is going on? Is Sprint waiting for some ridiculous launch date to actually turn the network on? Hopefully someone here has an answer sans speculation. 3 years of paying for 4G and not having 4G should eliminate the awesome line about patience that Sprint loves to tell us. :-/

Also, your 4s cannot use 800MHz anything, so you won't have the performance gains from that. Most of my family is in the same boat, but 2 are getting upgraded this year, and the third will get upgraded next year (so contracts are offset and I can always have the newest iPhone  :P )

  9. Good news for Milwaukee people!! I went to Marcus North shore tonight and was bouncing in and out of 1x800 the whole time. THEY ARE TESTING HERE!!!!!!

I have a screenshot posted with all the tower information (i think?) Can someone please confirm if this was the tower right next to the theater, or the next one farther south (or if I'm just completely wrong, and which tower it was pulling from).

  10. There is obviously still work to be done here in the area.  Both of the towers I drive by around Delafield haven't been touched.

Sorry, I should have clarified. It's the last tower I'm aware of in the North Shore area that hasn't been completed. Plus Delafield is a little ways out of the city when you actually look at it. On Google maps you can see that the major areas are from Cedarburg south to  Franklin, and from the Lake out to Waukesha. So sorry to say, but you're a little ways out from the major city limits and may not see upgrades until the areas closer to Milwaukee are completed.
