  1. I live in Natomas and work in the Rancho Cordova area, and those are the places I spend most of my time. I'm currently with Verizon on 3G with unlimited data plan. Once Sprint's 3G is cluster launched in the Sacramento area (which I assume includes Rancho Cordova), is it worth becoming a Sprint customer at that point, figuring that 4G LTE service is right around the corner? Or should I wait until 4G LTE is live in the places where I'll be most of the time?
  2. I appreciate the North Natomas experiences - thanks for sharing the frustration. I'm not yet a Sprint customer but am waiting for "liveness" before becoming one. In the meantime I'm on Verizon with a getting-lousier-by-the-say 3G phone, but at least I have unlimited data and thd 3G service is pretty solid when out and about. On occasion I wonder if it would be worth it to jump ship early and just wait like the rest of you, but posts like yours make it clear to me that I should continue to wait.
  3. I live 2 miles from the arena. We are on Verizon right now but are planning a switch to Sprint when Sacramento goes live on LTE. It's worth noting there is a Sprint cell site at the arena property.
  4. For those (few) of us who are not Sprint customers (yet), or who are customers but for whatever reason have not gotten the text (yet), could someone who received it transcribe the text? I'd like to know what Sprint is finally saying officially about upgrade progress in this market.
  5. This just in, from a connection I have on the project... "I don’t have a specific timeline to provide, but I will tell you that you should be really close. Really close to seeing that 4G/LTE light appear on your phone."
  6. I think it's fair to remind folks that those on this forum in the void between being on the teams who actually know what is going on and the general public that has been given little specifics about what is going on beyond "it's in the works." A lot of the information shared here is solid. Some is based in supposition. And some solid facts shared at one point may have suffered the effects of changed circumstances over time that make those supposed facts no longer accurate. What I do know, or think I know, is that Sprint is on the verge of something quite spectacular here in Sacramento. Having been on and withnessed many large technology projects in my career, I can say there are many things that can get in the way of crossing over the finish line. I have seen projects go live before they were fully baked just to meet a deadline and suffer horrible post-live problems as a result of the rush to "git 'er done," projects fail to launch due to funding insufficiencies, projects delayed due to technical and resource constraint issues, etc. Those who are suffering the obviously deficient services being delivered right now have every reason to be impatient. I am thankful for their testimony because it probably stopped me from becoming a Sprint customer yet (I'm still on Verizon with unlimited data on a deficient 3G device). I like they are hoping things finally come together in Sacramento soon because I would love to get me some unlimited tri-band LTE phablet goodness. I just hope I can limp along with my creaky 3G device in the meantime (and the wife is getting really impatient too).
  7. I took a good long look at the huge water tower on Peter McCuen Blvd. in Mather / Rancho Cordova today which I understand is a Sprint site. I believe it is also an AT&T site and perhaps another carrier as well. The tower was recently freshly painted. The antennas were taken down and hoisted up in the air on hydraulic lifts some weeks ago during the painting, and then they were reinstalled on the tower and superstructure and everything including cables were painted to match. There's also a new concrete block enclosure under the tower for the equipment lease areas and a new parking lot has been developed around it (I work for the company that is or will be leasing that parking area). The enclosure and tower is like a donut hole and the cake is the parking lot. Anyway, I didn't take any photos because I don't THINK there's any new stuff there, only freshly painted reinstalled stuff. And the vantage points for taking photos of the weatherproof cabinets in the lease area are fewer and farther between now due to the concrete block wall surrounding the site. But I can take some photos of the current state if they are wanted. It might make more sense to shoot a short video of the site. Let me know...
  8. According to someone "very much in the know" on this topic (I really shouldn't divulge the source): "I would say that estimate [towards the end of the year] is still valid. I don’t see many challenges that would affect your area [sacramento] other than the winter weather that could slow construction crews down a bit."
  9. Hi folks, first time posting and I donated. I work at 3707 Schriever Avenue in Mather. I looked at the tower behind our building and it still looks like techiegirl's photo from mid-july. I am not a Sprint customer yet but considering becoming one, but only after the issues are worked out and there is reliable 4G LTE coverage near where I work and where I live (North Natomas). I have Verizon now and am on grandfathered unlimited data with a 3G device that is on its last legs. Based on what I have been reading, it seems like a hellish experience datawise in this market due to a long delayed modernization and the growing pains that accompany that modernization unfolding now. I was really interested in Galaxy Note 3, but I'm now wondering if that would be a wise choice after seeing the conversation about it not being tri-band. Thoughts?
