Good news, my Nexus 5 is now on LTE in Shentel markets (mostly used in York). Bad news, it doesn't like to make phone calls now. I've switched from Global to LTE and after using that setting for the past day no improvement. I guess I'm glad that my Moto X will be here tomorrow.
Did you try making calls without an area code? That for some reason worked for me. I was able to easily duplicate it also, no idea why that would be an issue, but it was.

Well default is global, its not really a matter of why people do it, apparently Sprint/Google does it.I don't understand why anyone uses Global mode? Switching from Global mode to LTE/CDMA mode was one of the first settings, I switched on my phone. Its not like people are going to connect to WCDMA/HSPA+ anyways.

Yea Shentel!!!
Have you noticed you can't dial numbers with area codes? I switched from Global mode to LTE mode, and now I can, very strange.
-
Actually mine does too, unless I dial without an area code which is really strange. Try it out.

Ok, I fixed it by switching from "Global" mode to "LTE" mode in the Mobile Networks menu. Hopefully that works for you also.

Well that's good but when I try to make a call it says call sent then immediately says call ended. I can receive calls just fine. Lte drops and then when I hang up it reconnects just like it's supposed to. It's just making calls that does this.

Just wanted to let everybody know that LTE is on in Harrisburg PA. Apparently, the eCSFB update went through late this afternoon early evening.
Its on in Altoona also. I was worried for awhile

Same here in Hagerstown md. I saw lte on my n5. My problem is now that I can't make phone calls. It's like it can't get off lte to make calls. R u having any problems with making calls?
No that was the first thing I tried. I tested calls and texts. When making or receiving a call, LTE disconnects and then the phone receives or makes the call. Signal check only shows LTE connection also, and the engineering screen shows proper connection, unlike before when forced, it was emergency calls only.

Great news. Shentel LTE in Altoona PA is working on my tri band device . I happened to look at my phone this evening and its connected to LTE On my Nexus 5! This gives some hope to the people from Harrisburg.

Thanks, I really hope it does go rapidly. Everything is in place in the Shentel area I'm in, including the fallback switches, they just aren't active yet.
Let's just hope they are aware, which surely they are or will be.
-
Still no LTE for the Tri Band phones here in the Harrisburg Pa area. Every morning I turn the G2 on hoping that Shentel fixed the issue, but not yet.
I wish somehow I could find out their timeframe.

I live in Altoona, PA eCSFB is not enabled here nor is it in any Shentel Market I've been in yet. So there goes that list

I was just in State College this morning, it's a shame they don't even have 4G there yet.
-
Seeing as almost all of Shentel is upgraded on the 3G side, I don't think eCSFB should be an issue in their territories.
Something is an issue, must be software, I haven't had 4G unless forced since I got my Nexus.
-
We're not sure why things aren't working there yet. It's possible that the Shentel towers haven't received the proper software update yet. Very strange.
I can tell you both Green (3G/800/4G), and Yellow (3G/4G) sites are a problem. I tried traveling to a yellow today, just thought maybe it would pick up LTE, no dice only ePHRD connection.
-
Actually, you are Shentel. It appears no Tri-Band devices are playing nice with the entire Shentel network yet.
Thanks I was curious, didn't see anything mentioned about them. Guess its back to the HTC One for me!

I am updating incumbent/ non incumbent list to include exceptions and include if the market is 3G/4G as well as including an explanation of what it will mean in laymens terms.
I live in Central Pennsylvania, and can tell you that LTE is not working on my Nexus. All the towers in my area are 3G/800/4G.
Edit: Apparently my location is considered "Western Pennsylvania"

It's believed that a site with NV 3G accepted (a yellow or green site) that will not allow a Triband LTE device to connect is just in need of a software update. This is why some people report their LTE all of a sudden works. So maybe your site will be recitifed soon.

All the sites around my area are either yellow or green, 16602, but it is Shentel territory. I'm wondering what the chances are that they will fix them? I haven't been able to connect to any of them.

Nexus 5
Altoona, PA 16602
No LTE unless forced, which renders handset unable to make and recevie calls. 3G only in every part of coverage area surrounding city.

Are all people having LTE issues in Band 41 markets? Is it possible your device sees the Band 41 site and not allowing you to connect to Band 25 LTE?

No idea, but I really doubt it. Where I live i'm surprised we have any LTE. I can force connect, but I cannot make or receive calls while connected.
-
For those with LTE signal issues. Are you using a case at all? Could that be part of the problem?
No case here, no LTE since 11/5 when I received the phone.
-
Does anyone have an opinion on whether getting a new SIM would help with LTE connectivity issues? My local store has some extras on hand
I tried an old sim from my HTC One, and a new one. Same deal, no LTE. I've had my N5 since Tuesday.
-
I'm starting to think my LTE radio is faulty, it still isn't working even after a card swap.
-
My LTE just started working on my black 32gb!

Did you do anything in particular? I just received the above response about mine not working.
-
Just received this response from an online chat about LTE and Google Play phones:
Carter K: Officially the phone will be launched on Sprint network effective 8th of November. Once the device is launched directly through us, all the services of this phone customer will start getting, and the Google Play purchased customer too. So on the 8th of November your Google phone will also start catching the constant LTE signals like your previous phone.
Not sure if this is true, but not much I can do I suppose?

I've been having a weird issue where my N5's incoming calls come up "Unknown" even when they are people in my contacts. It's not people calling with private numbers as it can happen sometimes from the same number that does not come up "Unknown". Anyone else having an issue? Is this maybe related to the handoff to 3G?
