4) Haptic - It may be a faulty-loose haptic motor, but I can hear it when it activates. Not a huge deal, but I'm going to compare the sound to a device at the Sprint store to see if mine needs to be RMA's.
2) On the Gnex, when on 4g LTE, I was able to use data and voice. On the N5, even when it indicates "LTE" all data stops when I am using voice. Any ideas?
As to the first part, mine is also exceptionally loud, but the demo model at the Sprint store is as well. I've heard a range of vibration sound levels, so I think it's probably within their tolerances.
Second questions: No, cannot use voice and data simultaneously. Voice + WiFi will work.

Thanks, will try it.

Read the reviews and be aware of the ToS. They may be doing more with recorded messages than is necessary...

Ive been using google voice for mote than 2 years. Never had this problem on any past phone. Htc Evo, galaxy nexus.

Two things to try:
Clear all data and the cache from the Google Voice app, then open it and run through the setup and integration again.
If that doesn't work, reactivate you old phone, make sure voicemail is configured properly, then switch back to your new one.
I got a very similar message earlier, but a profile update and re-doing Google Voice seemed to take care of it.

Did that a couple of times. No luck. Factory reset my old phone and updated the profile on that one. Issue remains.

What are you using for voicemail?
-
Still having the voicemail/text message problem.
"//Android:${from} has sent you a sprint voice message. Call${callbackno} to listen..."
I tried everything that halcyoncmdr suggested and still having the message sent every 30 minutes or so.
After I cleared data, i went to unsubscribe from visual voicemail and I again got "Voicemail error".
"Communication with the voicemail-to-text server has timed out. We will continue retrying in the background and notify you upon completion of the check."
It's been trying to unsubscribe for over 48 hours.
Update your profile.

It works like that. The thing is I could have any number of voicemail and not be aware of it. That's the problem. No notification.

You could try something like this app, which should be compatible with Sprint.

I assume you mean shouldn't and I hope that is correct. But cornelious can't connect to yellow sites.
Was that in STL? Starting to have trouble keeping track of all the reports of issues.
Also, Robert said:
Markets that have NV 3G complete will be fine on Triband LTE devices.
-
From what it sounds like in non-incumbent markets, non-SVLTE devices cannot connect to 4G only sites. And in Incumbent markets we are not able to connect to 3G/4G sites. Seems very odd.
Not sure if the bold part is accurate. The Sprint document says:
- Incumbent markets – LTE 4G only sites can communicate with either legacy 3G or NV 3G sites.
- Non-Incumbent – LTE 4G can only communicate with NV 3G sites; so individual sites need both NV upgrades.
... which doesn't seem to indicate incumbent markets will have issues.
-
Actually Missouri Market should not be affected by this issue as we are an incumbent market.
That's my understanding as well.
-
Do you have any issues connecting to 3G/4G sites? The closest one would be MLK and Kingshighway. Anyone else with Tri-Band devices experiencing issues connecting to either purple or yellow sites with consistency?
Can't tell yet. Will update if I notice anything. Thankfully there aren't a ton of yellows nearby.

In re lilg740's post above, that was me.
Device: Nexus 5
Issues: None - Quality LTE signal
Location: St. Louis, MO (Central West End area)
-
Awesome! We needed that PCI. This was standard connection correct? I mean no forced LTE or anything?
Correct, I'm stock and unmodified.
-
Ok. That makes me feel better? Here in St. Louis? They are saying that the Tri-Band devices will only connect to 4G on sites that have both 3G and 4G upgrades.
Apparently depends on whether STL is an "incumbent market." I've connected to to the towers in the Central West End with my N5 and am getting great speeds, so it's looking OK here...

How loud is your vibration motor? In my current N5, it's noticeably loud. On a previous N5 and another one I've played with, it was far quieter.
-
In your experience so far have you been able to connect to a 4G only tower?
I have been able to on my N5, yes.
-
PSA: If you got your Nexus from Sprint, don't forget to do the rebate to get $50 back.

Ok, got my original N5 (preordered from Sprint) replaced at a corporate store due to a faulty LCD. I had to be persistent, but they eventually let me exchange.
Sprint-purchased N5s come with the SIM card installed. The store I went to said that in order to issue SIMs to Play Store phones, they need to issue a ticket, and they've had problems getting those phones activated.
Activation can take a very long time - mine took somewhere in the range of an hour. I'm getting great LTE reception right now.
I'm probably not gonna be modifying mine at all, so if you need a Sprint-purchased control to compare against, I may be able to answer some questions.

chances are they dont have refurbs yet... Doesn't sound good about the screen Sent from my HTC ONE from Tapatalk 2
Yea, plan B: Gonna go to a Sprint corporate store tomorrow and try to do an exchange. Aggravating.
-
When you turn the screen on after it's been off for a while, does anyone's screen "shimmer" for a half minute before stabilizing and looking normal? Thinking I'm gonna have to RMA this unit.
Pre-ordered from Sprint. Think it's better to go through Sprint or Google? Do not want a refurb already...
-
Ok, both my Sprint pre-orders, placed at the same time, have now shipped...
But here's thing - one shipped two-day ground, the other is overnight. So I'll have one tomorrow and the other Friday. Sprint had to re-order both phones due to some problem with their system, so that could account for the difference. But note the weight difference as well...
Odd.
-
Just got my Sprint pre-order shipping notification for one of the two I ordered. They're going out!
Pre-ordered 3 minutes after the pre-order site went live, although they screwed up my order twice for the next day, so not sure when the final pre-orders went through.
Edit: My UPS tracking says its going out via UPS Ground with no estimated delivery date, so who knows when it will arrive...
Edit 2: Although UPS says Ground, the Sprint E-mail says "Overnight: Next Day PM." Hoping that's the case. Still haven't gotten notification on the 2nd of my pre-orders.
Edit 3: UPS now says it will arrive by 11/8.

Well I got notification that my sprint upgrade Nexus 5 was shipping today, overnight for tomorrow evening hopefully.
Also haven't gotten notification. When did you place your preorder?
-
My question is can it compete with the G2 in the battery department?
No, and nobody's claiming it can.
-
Hearing battery life is mediocre at best according to android central. Not up to par with the G2 or Note 3 in that respect but I didn't think it would be anyway. They say its up to par with the Nexus 4 or slightly better.
Posted this in the earlier thread - Gizmodo actually seemed to think the battery is pretty good...
While it's only been a few days, we're happy to report that battery life has been solid thus far. Naturally, it's nowhere near the Droid Maxx, but even with fairly heavy usage I typically made it to 1am with 15-percent left in the tank. We'll continue to test this and will update if there are any significant findings. Reception has been solid (testing in and around L.A.).
The Verge thought it was inconsistent.
During our time with the Nexus 5, it's been hard to get a real grip on how its battery truly operates. One day, it lasts less than eight hours of only moderate use. The next, more than 16.
So far its blowing my brothers Nexus 4 away..and slightly better than my rooted HTC One with modded battery saving kernel. All stock.
Awesome

Don't confuse properly calibrated and accurate with washed out. Most phones, especially Samsungs with AMOLED, are extremely saturated to the point of complete inaccuracy. You may very well be seeing a phone with an accurate panel for the first time. Granted blacks could be blacker, but the Nexus 5 screen is really very good. See this review of the screen.
