  1. With KK you can now say "Ok Google" and google now pops up. Of course you can do that with your Nexus 7 since it has been on KK for awhile now. You just got used to it on your Nexus 7 but didn't realize that it was a KK feature. It doesn't work on JB for the "Ok google" phrase.

saying ok Google works with my g2 has since day one.

  2. Not presently. Eventually I will pull everything out of the boxes, set up my tower, renew my license, and get back on the air. I just haven't gotten around to it, way too busy since I have been here.

Just listening at the moment, Drake R8B with a long wire from end to end of the attic of my ranch style house (102'). Amazing what it picks up, really.

that's cool. I've been a ham for over 20 years. Have a ICOM 476 pro. Don't get on the air much tho.

  3. Yes and no. It works now on SVLTE and SVDO devices. It would still work on a tri band device at least as well as today, and probably better because they could be on different bands. There are other options, too. They could require the data and voice be on different bands, say use 2500MHz or throttled 800MHz LTE while on a PCS voice call.

Be careful with what you're calling in-band. It is very easy to tune the selectivity of a radio. We do it all the time on HF (Shortwave) radio on extremely closely spaced, very narrow, often SSB frequencies, running many times more power than a phone does. I know that there are plenty of issues there still, but it is doable.

Either way, we have this crosstalk potential on SVwhatever devices now, but tri-band devices have yet to show any significant signal performance improvements. I can tell you from experience that on PCS, the Nexus 5 doesn't have any improvement that I can see when compared to a Galaxy S 3 or Note 2. I know because I have a friend with one and it is no better than mine.

are you a ham radio operator?

  4. I also predict during March because the G2 on other U.S. carriers are also rolling out KK.

sprint did say by the end of March

  5. svlte is a non-issue. I have an ecfb device. Let me tell you unless you are trying to watch video and be on the phone at the same time there's no difference with an ecsfb device. The battery life is also much better due to not having to run as many radios at once. As much as i loved svlte or even svevdo ecsfb makes it a wash. Even if you don't have ecsfb the sv(insert type here) isn't that big of a deal. It really does help with battery life and i can tell you as a ham having all of these paths inside already..it's hard enough to not have them interfere with each other...sv(whatever) just makes it worse by either adding more signal paths(which introduces crosstalk) or having to shift between signal paths. Wiwavelength has this exactly right. SDR has nothing to do with not having crosstalk between the signal paths..wiwavelength is absolutely correct and it's not a Sprint BS thing either.

  6. How is hd voice on the g2? Regular call quality is probably the worst I've ever heard on a mobile device.

    Vince

I have the g2. And it's been great. Better then my note 2 even.

  7. What you are describing is a ground loop interference problem in using the 3.5mm headset Jack plugged into the stereo when phone is charging at the same time. Shielded cables with ferrite cores attached should help.

grounding the hood and trunk helps and the doors. Making a better ground.

  8. Probably because of time of day. Both my recent trips were from late afternoon until late evening, and both were technically outside the Loop (1 north, 1 south). I should also have made it clearer that I didn't get any band 41 east of 90/94. My speed and SNR observations were Band 25 on my GS3.

    gs3 is not tri band

  9. Google removed developer access to the radio starting in Android 4.2. Any 4.2+ device needs to be rooted in order to use the alternative Reset Data Connection feature I implemented. Unfortunately, this will not change unless Google changes their mind and opens up access again somehow. Keep an eye on the thread in my signature for more.

thanks. Sounds like Google needs to pull their heads out of their butts.

I get the same thing. Plus can't reset with the app button. Says needs root something.

  11. I don't think it changed anything related to smr though. I was just making the point that they removed smr from the prl intentionally.

I'm thinking after we get the 4.2.3 update they might have the fix in it. Cross our fingers.

  12. So I gave every modem a shot and nothing really came of it. I can still make a call on smr after about twenty seconds of connecting once in about five call attempts and can send a text to self occasionally. I'm determined to talk with someone at Sprint engineering as they have to know something or they wouldn't have pushed prl 2000.Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk

we are at prl 2006 now.

  13. I live in a Samsung market with 800SMR. I've been able to pick up 800SMR on digi's PRL and then updated PRL to 2006... looks like 800SMR is still blocked. Switched back to digi's PRL, 800SMR is picking up again. No fix yet. :td:

never should have bought this Samsung junk. Tired of htc. Wonder why the update then for the prl? I did notice tho better signal on this phone. And just before the update. I had no data.
