  1. I can confirm I have seen my phone not switch over to LTE as quickly after losing it with ND8. I don't believe we can simply flash MK3 modem back on this build like you could previously due to Knox.

I've been on kitkat for a few days and am noticing the same thing. I have to practically force it to connect to LTE. Kinda disappointing considering how well the phone works overall with the new update.

  2. If you enable the vibrate alert, does that work? What is the default notification sound on your phone? This version does not play the chimes sound like version 2; it uses whatever you have set in your sound settings.. so if you have something quiet (or no sound) by default, that could be the cause. User-selectable tones will (hopefully) be working soon.

  3. been seeing it a litte in the Charlotte area, this was in Indian Trail NC

This has to be from the tower in Stallings, the towers start to get pretty spread out in Union County. I go right by that tower on the way home from work, Sensorly time !!

I think we're about due for a few more towers to pop online now... Would someone mind mapping Moss Road off S. Tryon and around to Erwin if they get bored or get a chance? If you're coming from 485, it's the next light after Carowinds Blvd, IIRC. TIA!

I plan to map this area today after work !!

I'll try to swing out there today after work, it's just a few minutes away from me.

  5. I really thought they were going to leave the 4g on this time... It's off again in Ballantyne.

They must be doing some work because EVDO is down too. Only getting 1xRTT 1498ms Ping and 0.03Mbps UL/DL.

I've had that same problem so far this week at work as well. I've been getting 1xRTT alot, not able to hold eHRPD, drops back to EVDO. At least we know they are out there banging away at it. :tu:

As a side note, I went and checked out the new tower that popped up in this weeks update out in the Unionville area but it was not broadcasting LTE :( I'll ride back out there in a couple of days and try to get it mapped on Sensorly.

  6. I have noticed that what ever you search for in the incognito mode will show up in the Google search function on the phone (hold down home button on S3,select the button in the middle). You can at least check out what they searched for if they were in this "porn mode".

  7. LTE handoff to other LTE sites is smooth as silk. LTE handoff to 3G EVDO is usually pretty good. 3G EVDO to LTE handoff is more of a problem. My device testing doesn't want to do that with an active data stream.

Have you experienced the device hanging onto a LTE signal and it not be useable ? I've noticed this a couple of times coming from the tower close to my work and leaving the area, it just seems to hang onto LTE even when it seems that there would be no way it could still be connected to that tower. In fact I pass right by another tower and am approaching a second one before it will let go of the LTE signal. I know going into the area in the morning it doesnt connect anywhere close to where it hangs onto it and when it does conect it is very usable. The S3 seems to be very good at aquiring and holding onto a weak LTE signal. Is this an early deployment issue or just a device issue ?

  8. I tried driving through the neighborhoods around Cotswald to "map" it, but the purple signal doesn't seem to have covered where I went. Is Sensorly an app that has to have confirmation before it updates the coverage?

Ive noticed that sometimes I had to zoom in a little to first see new areas I have mapped but after awhile it will start showing up at the normal viewing level when you first log on. Speaking of Sensorly, looks like somebody mapped a nice little run through Mint Hill on 51 up to Albemarle Rd. Its good to see LTE showing up outside the 485 loop on the east side of town, now if they would just swing by Indian Trail.... :tu:

  9. Has anybody noticed a new server show up when running a speed test? I would always connect to the one in Chester, SC by default as it was the closest but MI Connection in Mooresville, NC has just shown up. Related to NV upgrades for capacity or some other reason?

  10. It is such an obscure site, it almost seems impossible to be coincidence. Of all sites to begin of the 500 in this market. It seems unfathomable.

I would hope it's a "thank you " from somebody at Sprint. If it wasn't for this site I, my 4 other lines and $300 + a month would be with Verizon right now. I'm sure there are plenty of others like me who were ready to jump off this ship but this site gave them hope that better days are coming for Sprint !!

  11. Tower is back to broadcasting LTE at the corner of S.Tryon / Westinghouse Blvd and also at Ballantyne! Didnt get to check the one farther down S.Tryon towards Lake Wylie but I would assume it is as well. Just glad to see whatever issue they were having seems to be fixed and hopefully they will stay on now. :D

  12. Thats real close to the area I mapped on Sensorly a couple of weeks ago, I mapped it to S.Tryon/ I-485. Good to know that the tower is back up broadcasting LTE again. I think they had it operational long enough to get it accepted then it's been off ever since, hopefully they got whatever issued worked out and it will stay on.

I cant tell by your info if you have an android phone or not but if you do download the Sensorly app and you can map the areas in Charlotte you find LTE. It's a great way to track the progress of LTE deployment in the area.

    Thanks for the update !

  13. You can set certain numbers that have access. It comes wide open initially but you can lock it down rather easily.

Like pyroscott said it's really easy. Log onto your sprint.com account, my preferences , manage my airave click on the restrict access and enter the telephone numbers you want to be able to access it. Done !

I rarely lose data now. Voice, on the other hand, likes to come and go. I notice it likes to roam even when I'm suppose to be connect to my Airave.

I have the same problem with mine connecting to the airave as well. We have 3 LG phones and 2 S3's in the house and the LG phones connect perfectly every time, S3's are a pain to get connected.
