  1. Are any of y'all using nPerf?  I started using it more once they allowed mapping your trips.  It has several testing options and shows the best technology in the area on the map.

  2. Cleared cache/cookies and even tried on an incognito tab after the first attempt.  Got different ads each time I tried though.  I was surprised to see a new account activation offer before I cleared everything.  I think Sprint is starting to run several more offers now to see if they can get anyone to sign up on free service, cash offers, or reduced service and phone cost.

The only problem in Sprint doing this, as I've been saying, isn't so much Sprint's fault but that of Softbank, which really should be helping to fund this, yet they'd rather chase after a merger. Not to say I don't understand this, I do to a degree, but only if its another wireless company with existing infrastructure and spectrum. So unless Charter still is in this with Comcast, where there is a chance at integrating a Verizon merger someday, Softbank might as well accept the deal offer DT made for them, or else be ready to really spend on growing Sprint's network.

In many of your post you continue to state that Softbank needs to do more and fund these things for Sprint. It has been mentioned by many others that Softbank can't fund, hand money to, or pay off Sprint's debt. The acquisition of Sprint was structured in a way to make Sprint recover itself.

It has also become clear that if Son wanted out of Sprint he would have just accepted an offer and washed his hands of it. Son wants to turn Sprint around quickly and to do this a merge with another company where he has a controlling interest is the best option.

I will agree that some of the partners that Softbank and Sprint are talking to aren't the best, I am willing to see what comes from them. If any merger allows the debt to be moved over more subscribers it will help free up capital for growth.

Time will tell if anything comes of these talks. I for one hope Sprint focuses on network improvements while they wait.

  4. So instead of wondering if you have a bad phone you want to rant about it. I have none of the issues you are having. If my phone ever starts to lag I reboot it. If you can return it or swap it I would look into those options.

  5. If b26 is still overloaded in your area this would lead to call issues. At my house in Houston the only signal that makes it into most of it is B26 and it is still a weak signal and still overloaded. Sprint says that as little as 1 Mbps is needed to maintain a call but this doesn't mean it will be a great quality call. Outside my house I switch over to b41 3xCA and have no issues.

  6. well it didn't work any where else until I got home. Also the call with my mom was horrible. I can hear her great but she kept saying I was cutting out.

I had issues with call quality in West Texas. I could hear the other person but they couldn't hear me most of the time. When I was driving back to Houston calls got much better with minor issues with tower changes. They are crap again at my house, but LTE signal strength at my house is why I requested a magic box. I think what some of us are witnessing is why Sprint is slowly moving towards VoLTE.

  7. Well so far the call plus feature is a bust for me. But I blame that on the network in West Texas not being ready for it. I can hear people but they can't hear me. Hopefully I will have better luck in Houston when I get home tomorrow.

  8. If one of the 4 "national" wireless companies is removed by merger or other means prices will go up. Sprint has to find a solution that saves them and prevents the loss of a national carrier. If this means seeking a merge with a cable company so be it. While I wouldn't prefer this if it keeps competitive prices I will be able to accept it.

In one form or another all carriers have said that if competition of one company is removed they will all increase their prices. This will only hurt the consumer.

There is no way to correct what the auctions did, this was all free market at work. There is nothing fair in business and each has to work with the resources they have. As we have seen they are all swapping spectrum to make things work for them.

  9. While I travelled around parts of West Texas I noticed Sprint has been adding 2xCA on many sites. In Andrews county they are running 5x5, Ector county is 10x5 and Sterling county is 5x5. I didn't notice any CA in Tom Green county.

Speeds in Andrews and Ector counties were real slow with 5-10mbps upload speed equal or greater than the 3-7mbps download. One of the main reason for such low speeds could be microwave backhaul on many sites. Sprint isn't the only one guilty of this in the area. Even B41 2xCA was running between 21 - 44 down. Sterling county speeds were better on B25 2xCA than what I saw in other parts but was still below 20mbps down.

On top of the lower speeds large sections of the area are without coverage. East of San Angelo in to the hill country I spent most of my time on Five Star Wireless.

Overall the network is usable but Sprint will not win any awards or impress anyone here. This part of the state is very much AT&T and Verizon territory.

  10.

All of you are misinterpreting what HPUE is.

It does not increase RSRP levels as that is the signal it receives from the eNB.

Hpue increases the TX connection to the eNB so that it is able to keep an active connection both ways.

Whereas most devices would start dropping the signal around 115-120 at the cell of edge range where the UE cannot communicate with the eNB, Hpue allows the device to still communicate and stay connected even with RSRP levels reach ~ -130 dBm RSRP.

I have seen the RSRP reach -134 on B41 3rd carrier, and -132 on the 2nd carrier while the 1st carrier was at -126. I was wondering why the big difference between the first carrier and the other two.
