  1. Wow....no need for drama lol. I just wanted to announce my loser moment. I just upgraded to the HTC One, and I drove over to the 4G tower at Hartford & SE 14th and spent an hour downloading my apps and such. Used about 1 GB of data doing that alone! CanNOT wait for it to spread across DSM (airport and Woodland Heights neighborhood, please!) That is all.

  3. Sure enough, like I said, I went out to Hartford and SE 14th (I'm assuming the tower I saw just East of the intersection was the Sprint tower). I was impressed with the speeds while downloading games (just for fun, I uninstalled them afterwards) from the Google Play Store. 2MB a second down and a 50MB file was finished in just under 60 seconds! SOOOOO Excited! NOW they just need to get Jordan Creek area, Downtown and the Woodland Heights neighborhood live! Here are some pictures...enjoy!

  5. Ooooo Methinks I will head that way after work (I get off at 7AM) and check it out!!!!!!! YAAAAY! LOL@CubbieFan82 for the Goonies reference...overplayed movie, but it's appropriate!
  6. I've been 4G hunting unofficially for the past few days (after I heard the 30 minute long LTE story), and so far no 4G anywhere in DSM. I'm getting too anxious, and yes I lead a very boring life when I'm not working lol. I went out to Ankeny the other day and no LTE. Data was working decently in West Des Moines around the Jordan Creek area...

  8. Sweet! Thanks for the updated info! I was in Fort Dodge today, and it urks me that AT&T, iWireless, Verizon and U.S. Cellular all have 4G (GSM HSPA+, not LTE), but Sprint has only 1xRTT!!! I don't know why Sprint is taking so long! I'd love them to update the towers along I-35 as well!!! Even 3G would be a vast improvement!
  9. I'm at Iowa State Fairgrounds - @iowastatefair (Des Moines, IA) w/ 38 others http://t.co/ydEcFMj09Q

  10. Yeah I just got back from the fair, and I'm just happy they had the Sprint booth there! I don't think it was there in my 2010 visit. The rep there told me by the end of the year, but he says that the work they're doing at MLK and Hickman/2nd and Euclid is just outage work (yeah, right...). They seemed to be busy enough, fortunately. DAMN U.S. CELLULITE for having so much exposure...no signs of AT&T or T-Mobile anywhere, but did see an iWireless booth just past the Gate 10 entrance.
  11. LTE or HSPA+ on AT&T? As far I as I knew, AT&T just had HSPA+ here and not LTE.

  14. Very nice reporting! This is the kind of stuff I like to hear about the fair rather than the agricultural topics and butter cows...yes, yes, I know that is what makes the fair "the fair", but even though I value farmers' work and don't take it for granted, the topic bores me to tears, just like to farmers, mobile phone talk and retail bore THEM to tears, so it's a win-win. THAT said, by reading this, I think I'll drive along University and 31st tomorrow night after work to check out to see if 4G LTE is up and running (I have a sad life, don't I, lol?) On a side note, I wish T-Mobile would invest more in Des Moines. I am happy a few more T-Mobilie stores opened up over the past few years, but they need to update their towers on the Highway 5 bypass on the South Side of town, as well as in Altoona. Sure, texting and talking are fine, but data is slooooooooow (I fooled around with iWireless a bit, and get GPRS on Hwy 5!!!!) HSPA+ cuts out just before Altoona on Hubbell, and I get EDGE throughout town (Altoona), but HSPA+ everywhere else within Des Moines. As soon as I leave Des Moines and Ames, though....EDGE network all around. Even iWireless doesn't invest in 3G immediately outside Des Moines/Ames (Boone, Perry, Nevada, Marshalltown) at this time, nor does T-Mobile when it goes through Story City, Newton and Osceola.
  15. Just to let you all know that I'm getting 1xRTT service in my house and around town on my phone, my partner's EVO and my iPad with 4G LTE, so they are working on the towers around me! LTE before we know it! But just for fun I switched to my EVO 3D and the WiMAX tower by 8th St / 73rd St in Windsor Heights still works great...7.5mbps down and 1.5mbps up. Cross fingers for LTE by the end of the week!
  16. Okay, I drove up MLK and over to 2nd Ave. up to Ankeny and no 4G yet :-(. Got my Dunkin' Donuts fix, though!!!
