  1. Saw some spots of 4G, at MiMi's for lunch and had LTE but it went off soon as I started driving. Also by the Y downtown.
  2. I think it is off. I was near there today and did not get a signal.
  3. I mean the Sheetz near Holden not near Friendly on Market.
  4. I think they adjusted the antenna's so the coverage will be a smaller area. You need to be down near the sheetz to tell if it is off. I got some of south east area. The tower is between Millpoint and Kessee, between Thacher Dairy and Mcdonnell. Very rural down there so you can't go on to many other roads there.
  5. I think I found the tower that covers my house. It is just off Beeson Road, just off Hwy 150
  6. I go from Oak Ridge to Greensboro to High Point every day so if a tower is on I should see it at some point. I always have my Sensorly on so I will know if I have found anything new. Have been seeing LTE in the downtown Greensboro area but I think it is bleed thru from some where else. The signal does not lead to a tower. Also as Sprint switches its Clear wire to LTE there will be better coverage but everyone will need new phones since that is a different frequency. Rumors about tri band phones are out there but when where and how is still just rumors. Talked to Sprint tonight and they are still saying that they will be done by the end of the year. I get a strong 3G signal at home so if my nearest tower is switched I will know right away.
  7. So when a tower is first upgraded the transmitters are pointed almost level which gives you a huge footprint. After testing is completed they are adjusted to a normal footprint overlapping the 3G from that tower. That explains some of those spots where you get LTE and then it is gone the next time you go looking for it. So I think there are two towers on in High Point and the one we know about in Greensboro, three others outside the city limits in Guilford County.
  8. That 1 tower is covering about 25% of the city limits, maybe 20%. Still that is a lot from one tower!!!
  9. I thought Highpoint and Holden was an antenna near the mall. If it is coming from that far away I would be impressed.
  10. Sprint announced 34 markets today. None that would really affect us. I guess we just have to keep holding on.
  11. All quiet this week. Some sites that had been up were off today. For instance where Holden and High Point Rd cross. Have not seen LTE anywhere I have not seen it in the past. Just have to be patient.
  12. I know in NYC it can take a long time to get things done. Between permits and other obstacles things can be a mess. How long is the process in NC to upgrade a tower. Greensboro and High Point appear to be moving slower than Winston. That may not be factually correct.
  13. Heard a rumor that LTE will be launched in our area next month. No details, just someone heard from someone else.
  14. Mapped where 40 and 85 split in Greensboro near 840. Also while going north on 311 4G stayed on to just past 68. It normally dies just after Kivett Drive. Some of the spots I hit this morning were off this afternoon when I tried to get more detail.
  15. If you look at the map that sprint uses to show what they have done in an area over the last 6 months it is not as informative as one would like. At Wendover and Westover Terrace it says a data capacity upgrade was done. The tower that is nearest the mall says data speed upgrade. When they install LTE equipment does that mean speed upgrade or capacity? Nice to see that something was done but not clear what. It says speed on the north side of the airport but have not seen any sign that LTE has ever been available there. You would think that would be a priority but on the south side says capacity. I would think that it would not take this long if the change was made up to 6 months ago.
  16. I mapped it down green valley road and it cut out right before Benjamin Pkwy. It is possible that one of the 3 towers that are right at Wendover and Westover Terrace is on but at a low setting and that is why the range is so low. I don't know enough about how they tune the towers and what is the max capability of a full strength signal.
  17. Yes, I was on Wendover and when I got to the light at Westover Terrace it switched to LTE.
  18. Saw your LTE off Westover Terrace. Got off Wendover and drove up Westover Terrace then up Battleground with LTE then it switched back to 3G around the KFC. I guess you can't get LTE and original recipe in Greensboro. Maybe someday.
  19. Today my Sensorly froze. It stopped recording. Some of my mapping is recorded. Much of it is not. I had 4G from Romaine St down High Point Road to Aycock St. From Merritt down Patterson all the way to High Point Rd. Down Vanstrory from Holden to High Point Rd.
  20. If you look at Sprint's map of where they have towers and done upgrades there are often no towers near where we get small LTE hot spots. Any one know why? Also any idea why somewhere that clearly had LTE will not be there at a later date?
  21. That is great news. When I had my EVO I didn't have any problems getting a 3G signal in my building. Now that I have the GS3 I have a real hard time getting a 3G signal. Since LTE penetrates better I am looking forward to good reception again. Maybe next week it will be on all the time.
  22. Got LTE signal while in Costco parking lot. Stayed on LTE until I got on 40.
  23. I went to Jamestown after seeing a single spot. Found it and tried to ride it to see how big the area was but from what I could tell it is a very small area of main street less than a mile.
  24. I don't know if they are still in the early beta stages of Greensboro and around Greensboro. Some times I can get LTE and other times I can't.
